Habitat Café works if you're seeking a coffee-and-snack spot on a pleasant day—not ideal for full meals or large gatherings. The awards and hype feel overstated given the cramped, stuffy indoor experience, but a few good bites and kind staff still make it worth a one-time visit.
Visited Habitat Café for an early Sunday lunch with family around 12 PM. We didn’t make reservations—no discounts visible on Swiggy or Zomato, possibly because the slots were gone by then.
Overall, it’s a good coffee and finger food café, but definitely overpriced if you're not availing discounts. The awards and buzz around it felt a tad much considering our underwhelming indoor experience. Also, do not expect proper meal options—apart from a couple of paratha variants and some Asian-inspired large plates, the menu leans heavily towards café fare.
Located on the 5th floor of a building tucked inside Banjara Hills—it’s not inaccessible but not exactly prominent either. Surprisingly, they only offer street parking via valet. Once you’re in, the waiting lounge is quite charming, but the actual indoor seating feels tight and stuffy. A double-height ceiling would’ve helped with the sense of space.
We were a group of 8, seated so tightly that our chairs touched, and anyone wanting to leave had to make a whole group shuffle. The indoors felt hot and enclosed—weather didn’t help, and the air conditioning was barely noticeable. To their credit, the staff tried hard to improve our comfort, even setting up air-cooling fans behind us, which made it somewhat bearable.
The outdoor terrace felt more spacious and could work well for solo breakfasts or romantic dates—assuming the weather plays nice. Can't imagine this spot being enjoyable during humid monsoons or blazing summers.
Menu-wise, it’s all about coffee and finger foods. Surprisingly, the veg options tasted better than the chicken dishes, which lacked juiciness and tenderness. What truly annoyed us was their digital menu: it was clunky, required WhatsApp verification to place orders, didn’t easily support group ordering, and hid coffee mocktail options once logged in. Many items were tucked under a confusing “more” tab—why make ordering that hard?
Staff were polite and helpful, but required prompting to serve items that should’ve come without asking.
With most items priced around ₹450–₹500 and portion sizes just average, you'd expect better ambience, smoother service, and easier parking. It wasn’t a bad experience, but for the hype and lack of main course options, I walked away mildly disappointed. Still good enough for a 4-star rating. Not a place I’d rave about.
We did eat well—the French fries and cheese balls are definite must-tries. I requested removal of the 10%/₹550 service charge from our bill, which I felt wasn’t justified given the overall experience, but left a tip for our server since she genuinely tried to help.
Check the bill for item-level details. Overall, worth trying once—especially on a breezy day—if you’re after a café vibe, not...
Read moreGreat in its own kind, the Habitat Café is outstanding due to an ambiance that is absolutely stunning. The setting on a rooftop makes the café have no other words to describe it, but great so as to ensure that each of its guests is treated to a wonderful atmosphere. During a recent visit, we showed up without reservations but were lucky enough to find ourselves readily ushered in as soon as we arrived.
The menu at the Habitat Café has a huge offering, and there is almost an impressive choice for everyone—local and international. It's amazing—the variety of newly baked delicacies and the maximum amount of "desi" (traditional) and "videsi" (global) cuisines. Admittedly, pricing is on the higher side when one considers portion sizes. However, this is easily justified by the quality of food served, which is nothing short of exquisite in taste. The ordering process is simple, and I must say, I was astounded by the speed at which our order was processed and served—quite literally minimal waiting time.
The rooftop setting makes Habitat Café an ideal venue for social gatherings, including intimate celebrations such as small birthday parties. It is befitting for people who appreciate a sophisticated and appealing environment.
Yet, I also observed a little drawback in the service. The staff was diligent but inhospitable and uncaring, as it should have been by the place. The best I got was just a seat and an invitation to scan the QR code on my table to make an order, following which no one came back to me to ask if everything was okay or if I needed help. So, this carelessness did leave a minor blemish on an overall great visit.
In short, apart from the small interruption of service, our experience at Habitat Café was thoroughly pleasant. The venue itself makes it a very recommendable site for socialization, particularly for those of us who are connoisseurs of venues. We will certainly return, and I would definitely recommend it to all looking for a remarkable meal in a delightful...
