We chose to have The Lazy Brunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were there as a family and were really looking forward to this meal of ours, as it was on a special day, and also our first visit to Mekong. Our first impression of this place was not great, as it looks nothing like a place offering a brunch, which is usually a lavish display of their spread to offer. We had booked a table prior to our arrival, and so the seating was hassle free. But we didn’t get the best of tables. The area where we were seated at, seemed to be more like an aisle, with no good view of the restaurant. The day’s menu was available for us to scan on our devices, and we were told that the food would be served at our table. Looking at the setting, this seemed to be a regular norm at the restaurant. The menu itself was not very elaborate, which was not very admirable for an overpriced place like Mekong.
Well, we waited patiently for our food to be served at our tables. The waitress at our table was the biggest disappointment, as she had a very indifferent attitude. She would only secretively whisper the name of the dish being served to the first person at the table, and then start serving hastily in all our plates. She was always in a hurry. So it was like you just let her pour whatever she wishes to onto your plates and let her be done with it. The serving was clumsy, and she would often drop food on the table in her haste with no regret for having done it, which started getting rather annoying. I wanted to complain, but then I didn’t want to ruin the occasion. We just tried to make the best out of our meal. The starters being served were stone cold. Prawns on skewers were served sparingly. One prawn per skewer, and one skewer per person. Then we would have to ask for more, and the same exercise would be repeated after a long wait, until we gave up on ‘em prawns, although they were delicious but tad high on salt. Ultimately, I managed to get the attention of the busy bee, to swiftly but briefly utter the words that the food was cold...and she left like a breeze with no response. Where was the courtesy? I felt like we were sitting at a ‘Langar’, eating free food. This was ghastly. I could see our special day being ruined...could we do anything about it? The only good side was that the taste of the food was good, which could’ve been made great with it being served hot, with a dash of courtesy. Anyone heard of customer delight?
Promptly, the service halted at our table. We now positively assumed that we were now going to be served some hot food...there was no communication on this. We waited for a while, and lo and behold! 🧚♀️...there was hot food on our plates! I almost cried tears of joy! This time, we were pleased to see a new waitress serving us, who was much more aware of her profession. Things went smooth from then on. The main course was delicious. The Burnt Garlic Fried Rice, Shanghai Noodles and Sliced Fish Xo Sauce were lip-smacking and delectable. Kudos to the chefs for their culinary skills...they are the real asset of Mekong.
The dessert was not very appeasing though. It was a platter of Fried Dates pancake with ice cream, and strawberry Baked Cheese Cake. We also expected to be served with some Chinese tea, as the cups were already sitting on our tables. But then we requested for some at the end of our meal when we didn’t see it coming even after we were all done and ready to leave...by then we had learnt our lesson the hard way and instantly took the hint that you got to ask. I was rather proud of this little achievement of mine. The tea was actually good. It was made to perfection, and it helped wash down the oily food.
Overall, the brunch was rather chaotic, with us spending all our time constantly asking for something or the other. I would perhaps want to visit them for a quiet à la carte dinner to enjoy their...

When we visited this place last week for dinner, it was fully packed and no reservations were left for the night. That speaks a lot about the place for the price tag and in such times!
Staff has ensured that safety precautions are followed right from you step into the place, to ensure it's customers that it's safe to dine in with them.
We started our dinner with Jasmine tea which was quite refreshing. Our soups had khow suey and lemon coriander with chicken. Khow suey made with coconut milk was one of the best I had in hyd. 😋 Lemon coriander clear soup tasted good.
Beijing prawns, to start with, tasted very good with Crispy outside and juicy inside. Crispy lotus stem and water chestnut from veg was a good pick. 2 dishes I wouldn't miss to order when having pan Asian. Khow suey and lotus stem. And both tasted wonderful. Edamame truffle dumpling and Tibetan chicken momo satisfied our cravings for dimsums. If I had to vote for one then I would choose Edamame for its exquisite flavor 😋 Momo will be a street dish for me to relish as a snack anytime 😋 Chongqing chicken, a popular chinese dish that comes from Sichuan region is supposed to be a spicy dish with lots of peppers. Though it wasn't as spicy as it is expected to be, it was very well balanced with spice and a little sweet touch for a wider palate to enjoy. After an eloberate starters, we decided to keep or mains simple.
Stir fried noodles with stir fried mix veg is surely a killer dish combo for vegetarians. Sliced Lamb with in house spl sauce was really good. We had it with chicken basil fried rice, but a simple fried rice would have made us enjoy the dish much more.
Such delicious food, we decided to end with a bang of desserts. Dutch chocolate truffle, Jaggery ice cream and fried banana with ice cream were on point and tasted really good. Water chestnuts in coconut milk was decent and date pudding was a little too sweet to my palate.
All in all, it was a wonderful pan Asian meal after a long time and we thoroughly enjoyed the night. Srikanth, who served us for the night did a stupendous job with suggesting and helping us with the dishes.
Most of the dishes range between 600-1000 with few averaging around 500. For a fine dine star rated place, they are priced good for quality, quantity and taste.

One standout dish that I simply cannot forget is the Pad Thai. The balance of sweet, sour, and savory flavors was simply perfect, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. It was like a party in my mouth! Another favorite of mine was the Green Curry with chicken. The creamy coconut-based sauce was rich and velvety, and the tender chicken pieces absorbed the fragrant spices beautifully.
