Cocktails:
Monday Morning Breakfast – has some matcha. It’s a clarified drink, and I was honestly surprised by how good it was. Gongura 3. Bidri of Banjara – floral notes, my favorite. Smoked Pimento Pharaoh’s Fizz Gul Gulshan Zafraani Highball Guntur Gang Ru’s Golden Hour Shab-e-Malika – very interesting; it keeps evolving as you let it sit and sip slowly. Has strawberry sorbet. Sher-Ru-Shayari – if a whiskey sour lived up to the hype, this would be it. A beautiful mix of JW Blonde and wine. A dessert shot made with coconut milk, purple taro and vodka ( I think)
My least favorite was the one with tomato (I think it was the Pimento).
Food:
Pulled Jackfruit Chop – 9/10 – crispy on the outside, flavorful and melty on the inside. The jackfruit texture and spice mix were spot on. Perfectly done. Konaseema Kodi Vepudu – 7/10 – alright, nothing new or surprising. A safe choice for non-experimental eaters. Crispy Palak Chaat – 9/10 – not your usual palak patta chaat. It actually stays crispy. Might not look like much, but the flavors hit all the right notes. Balanced taste and texture, done really well. Reddy Wine Tawa Macchi – 9/10 – beautifully marinated, tawa-fried fish. Soft, flavorful, and easily one of the best I’ve had in Hyderabad in a while. 5. Zesty Avocado Popped Black Rice – 10/10 – a green mix of avocado and peas served with khakhra. Amazing flavor and texture. Perfectly crafted. Chicken Karaage – 7/10 – average, nothing special compared to the other dishes. Truffle Salmon Tostada – 10/10 – captures all the flavors of sushi (minus the wasabi), but not dry like most mid-tier sushi. Really good. 8. Jackfruit Haleem – 10/10 – as close as a veg haleem can get to the real deal. Spice, aroma, and flavor are about 90% there; overall experience around 85%. Really good and surprisingly authentic.
One of the best cocktail and food experiences I’ve had in a long time. Ru really lives up to its name with craft cocktails and artistic food. Every drink and dish was made with care and tasted great. The service was excellent, and the staff was very professional and friendly.
They gave us complimentary dessert shots with coconut milk and purple taro, which were amazing. We liked them so much that we asked for another round, and they happily gave it to us on the house, even though they were closing. That really showed how nice and thoughtful the team is. Amazing service by Lakshmi!
Although the place is definitely expensive, no denying that, but honestly, I didn't feel bad paying for the experience that I got, totally worth the money. Highly...

Read moreHad the opportunity to visit Ru for business lunch on a Wednesday noon. We were a group of five and we arrived in two cars. While they offer Valet, parking is likely to be a bit afar and involving wait times. Reservation isn't necessary for a weekday but it certainly could get busier during the weekend and reservation may be advised.
Upon arrival, we were impressed with the gorgeous ambience, the simple exposed brick wall exteriors, the richness in the interiors despite being minimal, cleverly using the tall ceilings and building the restaurant area around the hill that the building integrates into its construction. Classy, elegant and beautifully minimalist.
Coming down to the food, the spread in the menu pointed more towards South Indian, some North Indian followed by pizzas but it didn't have a full continental spread either. Interestingly, and to our pleasant surprise, all dishes were very modestly priced! Like 300 to 400 INR per dish, though we would have expected closer to 500 to 650 INR. The presentation style was unique but undeniably the portion sizes were small. In a way that's good because you can have more variety. Unfortunately for reasons I'm yet to understand, while the food was good, the taste palette left me desiring more. Definitely not memorable.v
The wait staff were professional and helpful, our orders were served pretty quick. I wish they did not play the music as loud as they did. Overall, The bill was reasonable and 5 stars for not automatically including a service charge.
Bottom-line: Definitely worth a visit, but don't expect the food to wow you as much as the...
