STEAM : After serving for more than decade Steam is opening up soon for lunch again, and nothing could have been more exciting that this, thus planned the outing to this place with my brother.
AMBIENCE : Though this beautiful and rich looking place hardly needs an ambience section on my review, but since I follow that then would update that this place has an option of sitting outside as well as inside. Inside also you get two options one has rich looking bohemian theme sitting arrangement with minimalist table arts, while the second section has red coloured checkered furniture.
FOOD :
I tried many but would review about dishes which left me awe struck and would definitely visit again to try any of them.
Burrata : This had tomato slice, pesto and grilled foccacia. : 4/5 Mumbai Local : This just like the name reminded me of the mumbai and its authentic food VADA PAV. So to be honest, I came to one conclusion after having the vada pav here that burger and all are bakwas, vada pav is JHAKAS. This is must try. This had dry garlic chutney also. 5/5 Verdura Pizza : Heard this to be the best pizza of this place, thus tried. This had broccoli, zucchini, asparagus and jalapeno. After having this thin crust pizza, I am pretty convinced with what people said and would continue saying the same that its one of the best pizza I can ever have. 5/5 Mushroom Rissoles : This was so tasty and cruncy that I cant describe on words, moreover saffron based chutney was making it extra delicious. What a rich and authetic taste it was giving. Warm Chocolate Cake : The brownie was soft and was garnished with choco chips while this was served with blueberry icecream scoop which was very authentic to this place in terms of taste. 5/5
SERVICE : The service was nice, the staff was and courteous. I loved the special service given by restaurant manager Chetan Sharma.
WHAT I WOULD RECOMMEND ? : I will recommend their Mushroom Rissoles, Mumbai Local and Verdura Pizza to must try.
WILL I VISIT AGAIN ? : Definitely, who would not crave to visit this place again. This place has got everything that one can...
Read moreI've had heared so much about this exotic restaurant by my Family, friends, critics and even Zomato. Everyone had to say nothing but the best words describing their visits and experience at Steam. I went there with really high expectations! This is where you get hurt if they don't match up to your expectations.
Let's start with the entrance and ambience, its something you'll only find in the créme de la créme heritage property restaurants and being maintained by Taj, Steam at Rambagh palace is surely one of the finest in its class. The steam locomotive (BK-4) and train themed restaurant is a unique experience to see and visit, seating options for both indoor and outdoor is available, obviously indoor being seated inside the first class AC train bogey which adds to the experience.
The hospitality is undoubtedly the finest you will find in this wonderful town known as the pink city. You'll be greeted and seated well and presented with a nice compact menu consisting the finest dishes designed to satisfy the royal pallets.
We were four people eager to experience the royal Steam experience we've all heard so much about. All aboard the Taj Express, we ordered for Barrel potatoes, Sampler platter, one vegetarian pizza and one non-vegetarian pizza. The freshness of the Sampler(Mezze) platter was just beyond expectations, very subtle flavoured hummus and tzatziki along with nice and crisp falafel and pita pockets.
The potatoes and Pizza were good but I felt the pizzas lacked that slight smokey woody flavor which it gets while being baked in a real wood fired oven, the oven at steam although looks like one, it isn't. This was really my only complaint. Apart from that, all is good about this fine restaurant.
Overall I would reccomend Steam to everyone who wants to have a fine dining experience at this institution. Keep up the good work...
Read moreRambagh Palace needs no introduction — it’s not just a hotel, it’s the Jaipur experience.
And if you’re visiting with someone new to the city, a stop at Steam — the heritage train-turned-restaurant — is non-negotiable. It’s part nostalgia, part novelty, and always a thrill.
Since our group had more kids than usual, Steam was the unanimous choice. And here’s how it unfolded:
Started with the Keema Pav — rich, dark, and aromatic. The keema was perfectly spiced, and the soft pav soaked up every bit of flavour. Simple, indulgent, and irresistible. A must-order.
Then came the Hot Dog — but this wasn’t your ballpark version. Topped with onion, fresh salad leaves, and slathered with house-made mustard and ketchup, it packed a punch. Familiar, but elevated.
The Chicken Drumsticks followed — nicely done, with a sweet and spicy glaze that hit the right notes.
The Mexican Platter? Comforting. Nothing memorable, but it did what it needed to. Same with the Pesto Pizza — not spectacular, but satisfying enough.
And then came the desserts. Unfortunately, this is where the evening dipped. We weren’t in the mood for Indian sweets, so we tried the vegan ice creams and the brownie. The ice creams were… just okay. The brownie looked promising but missed the brief entirely — neither soft, nor gooey. All show, little substance.
Full marks to Steam for ambiance and nostalgia. The food? Flashes of brilliance, but some misses too. Still, for first-time visitors and younger company, it’s an experience worth having.
