I didn't stay at this hotel but I am having the worst experience getting my advance money back from owner Ms Heena when I cancelled my booking well-in-advance as per the cancellation policy. Their property might be really good but their behaviour towards customers that follow policies and pay advance but need to cancel due to circumstances is really pathetic and I want to inform anyone looking to book this property to make sure you don't cancel your booking or else you will be made to run from pillar to post to recover your money.
Their booking.com profile doesn't say anything about advance payment but when I booked (attached the screenshot), the owner messaged me through booking.com asking for 50% advance payment or they will cancel my booking. I contacted booking.com to enquire why am I being asked to pay advance. I anyways made the advance payment to protect my booking, but my enquiry with Booking.com made Ms Heena angry (no idea why). Due to personal circumstances, I had to postpone my booking dates by 1 day but there were no rooms available at the property on new dates. She told me that once I cancel my booking from Booking.com, she will refund me directly. Once I cancelled my booking, she refused to refund my money directly and asked me to contact Booking.com only. Now she is giving all kinds of bureaucracy and saying that once she gets intimation from Booking.com then she will share screenshots of money transfer and then only she will refund my money. I made the mistake of first relying on the false advertisement of no advance payment, then making the advance payment trusting that they will refund if I cancel as per the policy, and lastly canceling my booking relying on the owner's false promise of refund once I cancel. She got me to cancel the booking so that it can be booked by others, and now refusing to return my money until she punishes me for complaining to Booking.com for false advertisement.
I want to inform anyone thinking of booking at this place that please don't choose this property if your plans are not final. And if you do, please think 10 times before contacting Booking.com for any queries because the owner doesn't like anyone even enquiring to Booking.com about them otherwise they will extract vengeance from you and make your regret even most logical actions.
Good luck to the people planning on staying here and I sincerely wish that the property owners get some sense of how to conduct business in a decent manner. It is businesses like you that we hesitate to pay advance payments, and not even 5-star hotels ask for advance payments but somehow you think you are better. Airbnb will soon ensure that these businesses learn their lesson...
Read moreOur stay here was a highlight of our month long trip through India. Heena and her family are so kind, welcoming and genuine. You feel like you're an extended family member!
The food was the best we had in India (in particular, we would recommend the Shai and Kadai Paneer) at very reasonable prices. Heena cooks it all herself and we can highly recommend the excellent cooking lessons she runs - just bring a notebook so you can write down the recipes to take home! We also enjoyed the option of western-style pancakes for breakfast.
Heena was always free to offer us advice, in particular where to shop (and where not to) and gave us helpful estimates on how much we should expect to pay for an item - giving us confidence to barter harder where we were getting ripped off. It's obvious Heena and her husband genuinely care for those who visit the beautiful city of Jodhpur.
The room was clean and comfortable, and earplugs were provided. It's located in a relatively quiet part of the old town, and the local street is comparatively clean compared to other parts of the Blue City. The location is just under the imposing Merangargh Fort, and walking distance to all tourist spots around the Old Town. The view from the rooftop restaurant is stunning, both in the morning and evening when the fort is artificially lit up.
We can wholeheartedly recommend this place, we left...
Read moreIf you read this post - you must stay here!! For a start, room was lovely - very clean and perfect size etc, location was great - 5 min walk to the fort and about 10 to clocktower where the centre of town is.
Secondly, the family who run the guesthouse are absolutely amazing. We turned up and they had a whole itinerary for us with what to do and when to get the most of everything in the city including organising a tuk tuk and zip line tickets for us. We did this plan and loved it. We also did the cooking class which we loved and reviewed separately - would recommend. Can pick 2 dishes, a rice and naans.
The family really go above and beyond to make you feel at home and happy. They offered us a late check out for free when they knew we had an afternoon train and Heena sewed up a pair of my trousers that had a hole in them when I asked about a nearby tailors.
Would 100% go back next time we go to Jodhpur.
Only (minor) problems we had: the room we stayed in didn’t have much of a view but the view from the rooftop was great and we didn’t need much time in the room anyway. Water and power was out for 1 morning but they quickly sorted this for us and were very apologetic.
Also be aware you cannot get taxi (car) to this guesthouse because of windy streets - NEEDS TO...
