If you’re looking for the best homestay in Jodhpur this is it! We absolutely loved everything about this experience! From the kindness of the staff to the amazing views and the delicious food, it surpassed every expectation. Upon our arrival, we were treated by Manu and staff to a lovely chai! From there we needed some time to recover from our travel and Manu assured us he would happily cook some delicious Indian dinner for us whenever we were ready! He showed us to our beautiful and cozy room. It was immaculately clean and the view was breathtaking! We felt immediately relaxed and at home. Later that night, over dinner, Manu asked if we needed any assistance in sightseeing, which we did. He suggested his childhood friend, Ravi to show us around the fort and tour the city. Ravi came to meet us to discuss plans after dinner at the rooftop cafe.
Ravi’s tour was perfect. He was so knowledgeable about the city and the history, but more importantly, completely willing to adjust the schedule, listen to our needs/wants, and never pressured us for time. He took photos for us, gave us space to explore and was there for every need! Highly recommend this tour!
The next day, after another personalized breakfast, Manu also arranged a safari for us to visit the Bishnu village. I also highly recommend this excursion as you are able to see the country side of Jodhpur and get a taste of the traditional...
Read moreThis evening I got in touch with Dev Kothi and had a discussion over the phone regarding my booking during October. On my enquiries the management clarified about the different categories of room with the prices. Then I also enquired whether we can adjust our children (3 yrs and 8 yrs) in two different double bedded rooms( standard king size and the heritage rooms). The management clarified that yes if the guests can adjust they don't have any problem with that... So the issue was only about adjusting the kids in the same room. Now when I went ahead and booked two separate rooms (standard king and the heritage) at Booking. Com, the staff at the property messaged me that we have to pay extra charges for the kids. Is this correct? And the staff compelled me to cancel my booking at booking. Com, because he said that the adjustment of my kids in the same room can be done only if I book through them directly.. Now this is a complete harassment for a customer from a different state who is planning to book a hotel 4 months ahead of his visit. This experience is horrible with a reputed Property like Dev Kothi. I would request the owner of the said property to look into the matter seriously and also request not to harass guests from other states like this which gives a wrong message about the policy and the ethics of the owner.
Horrible experience with the staff/management of...
Read moreI had nice stay at the hotel (2nd floor with balcony). The owner and staff are very friendly. Rooms are spacious with good wifi. Food is good. The view of the fort from the rooftop is amazing! The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I had a very disturbed night on the second day. Since the hotel is a “home stay” I expected it to be in a residential area. But unfortunately having a balcony meant that I had 3 windows and a door facing the other houses in a non-soundproofed room. First night was fine, however the second night there was a wedding that played music until 1am. Then there is a small Hindu temple that started a ceremony (only lasted about 5 mins) playing drums just before 6am. Also in the middle of the early morning there were dogs barking that interrupted my sleep. Maybe it is unfair to give the hotel 4 stars as all of the above reasons are out of their control and maybe what one should expect from a home stay. But I’m just rating my overall experience. If you do stay at the hotel, which is very good, maybe go for a room without a balcony as they are on the other side of the property with only one window. Also, the temple’s pooja I mentioned is not every morning. Thursday morning I didn’t hear anything. It was only Friday morning. (I stayed Wednesday-Friday). They do have a quick pooja every evening too, but that sounds nice because you...
