A budget hotel for short stay in Udupi. If you are visiting Udupi matta then its walkable to this hotel. The location is prime and its near to the highway too. The rooms are quite clean and well maintained. The room has all the amentities like fan, TV ,air conditioner and free wifi. Also the rooms are well light up and ventilated. The reception service is little inconsistent as some of the calls are not answered. All the complimentary from one litre of water, dental kit, Comb and fresh towels are provided. The food service is available for breakfast and the evening snacks. However the in house restaurant is only open from 8.30 AM to 1 PM and then from 3.30 PM to 9.30 PM. So Lunch is not available and it needs to ordered from outside. This is biggest shortcoming. There is no laundry service. So overall its an average hotel and it could have been better if the reception ,lunch and laundry service were available.

I heard about this place from my mom who's an long time fan of this restaurant. She highly recommend the place to me. Esp. cutlet and poori kurma. In my honest opinion, the fame doesn't really live upto the quality of the food served. What's wrong. 1. Vanaspati/Dalda: It's big red flag if when restaurants use vanaspati. Cutlet seemed like it was deep fried with Dalda. There're a lot of health hazards associated with Dalda. Google for further read. 2. Taste: I didn't feel the exceptional Diana taste in Poori or cutlet. It was overcooked in the outside and still moist/ undercooked on the inside. I did however liked the gatti chutney that comes with it. Poori too was undercooked and kurma was very basic and tastes like it was made for folks who are on medication. 3. Price: Overpriced for something that's this average. What could be right: 1. Bring back the old Diana taste and quality which our prev generation spoke so highly of. Bring back the legend that's now a myth. 2. Food: pay attention to what's served. Serving 1 bad customer will most definitely result in the loss or 50 more.

This place used to be so great. Back in the day we used to head to Diana (former place) just for the gadbad and the experience there (the spiral ramp to the first floor). It’s changed a lot. Even the gadbad doesn’t taste as good as it used to. My most recent experience was kinda bad. I had ordered a cutlet which tasted like it was stale and even had the stale smell. And when I called the waiter and informed him, he immediately jumped on the defense wagon and told me this was the first time EVER they received a complaint about their cutlet! (He said it in a nice way though). I asked him to smell the cutlet and he didn’t get the stale smell and even the chef apparently said it’s good (Ofcourse they would say what they prepared is good). anyway I returned it and they didn’t charge me for it. But still, Diana having such a great reputation seems to be just letting all our old memories down.

Not the Diana it once was. Used to frequent here while travelling from Mangalore to Thirthahalli and back. This time visited after almost 10 years, on a Sunday evening. When asked for menu card, they said there isn't one. The waiter said there were 3 sundaes available and we ordered all 3 along with masala dosae and cutlets. Ice cream sundaes were below par in quality. Tastes extremely sugary and the flavors are very very mild. Masala dosae was tasty and crunch, loved it! Cutlets had a burnt taste due to burnt spices, I believe. The sauce given with the cutlet was some sort of cocktail of ketchup and other sauces. Did not taste good. Shocker was the prices. Our total bill was 657. Ice cream sundaes cost 175 rs each except Gudbud. Really expensive for what they offer. 2/5 stars.

Hotel Diana Visited this place for Brunch during my visit to Udupi. Location: Located on the main road near Reliance point. Parking: Ample parking space available for both 2 & 4 wheelers Ambience: Clean and good. Food Taste: I have been visiting this place whever i am here for Cutlet & Gudbud. The taste has always been good, but this time the Cutlet was good. However the Gudbud was really bad for the price charged, the ice cream taste was OK and also the quantity was very less. The fruits were not tasting good. I think the management should maintain the consistency of the taste. Pricing: Price of all the items are very moderate & affordable. My Verdict: A good place to dine simply for their taste & legacy, but this visit was horrible..

Great service. Puri & paneer butter masala and the horlicks cake Ice cream are worth the money. The legendary Diana Restaurant Udipi - serves the best Cutlets and Gadbad Ice cream(Infact Gadbad Ice cream was first invented at Hotel Diana). And try thier bread masala.
