Its been a while I had visited this restaurant. So it was time for dinner and review. So let me start with the restaurant. The ambiance simple and beautiful as it has been for many years. Has a beautiful view of the City since this restaurant is located on the top floor.
When we entered they greeted us very well and since we were early we could select a good place. Couple of table were already reserved for guest. So suggest to reserve tables. When we sat they came with a beautiful basked with lots of Sandige. They were tasty, crunchy.
We ordered one of each from the below items.
Chicken Varuvel - The dish supposed to be spicy / tangy. But didn't feel like that. It was very bland and felt like the masala's were not put. The presentation was good. I would rate this 2/5
Chicken Malai Kabab - 8 chunky boneless pieces of chicken malai kabab. The marination was excellent and had the perfect blend of spices. Didn't overwhelm with he taste of malai and the green chutney given was the one which enhanced the Malai tikka and its signature taste. I would rate this 4/5
Lemon Coriander Soup (Non Veg) - We requested this to be without green chilly as it was for a kid. We did get a taste of it. It was really good, could feel the tanginess and the flavour of coriander. Also the diced chicken was soft and not very tough. My rating 3/5
French Fries - Perfect and crunchy. Were not over cooked neither were over salty. We requested for the non spicy version. I would rate this 4/5
Mutton Bamboo Biryani - This took the entire limelight. The biryani came in a bamboo. When the cover was opened and biryani was served it smelled amazing. The biryani was hot but it wasn't like you couldn't put it in your mouth. Mutton was well cooked you could feel the flakes. Raita added the taste and made it more awesome. Biryani rice had touched the flavours of ask the spices. It was very much like the dum biryani which had more earthy / wooden smell. A bit pricy on the pocket but perfect quantity for 2. Rating 4/5.
Overall, the service was excellent and good food. One of the good places for a weekend dinner. Suggest to book a table for a better experience. The only sad part was that the menu was given in a iPad (good idea for saving paper) but it was a struggle to go thru as it didn't have the correct sequence neither was easy to find what the restaurant...
Read moreThis is a fine dine restaurant specialising in coastal cuisine and located in Goldfinch hotel. The ambience is good with ample seating space for ~100 pax. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and can be reserved only via EasyDiner. We got a good seating having good view of the city scape. We had the following: Chicken Manchow Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Cream of Chicken Soup, South Indian Non Veg Platter, Paneer Satay, Sanadige Basket, Kori Kundapuri. In beverages, we had blueberry Lemonade, Butter Milk, Berry Sweet heart, Aamras, Kokam Kadi, Yelaki Nimbe Sharbat, Elaneeru Shunti, Sharbat, Litchi Surprise, Strawberry Chiller, Vanilla Ice Cream, Elaneer Payasam. We did try silver fish rawa fry but didn't like it as it wasn't descaled properly and staff took it back when highlighted. The highlight of the order was the South Indian Chicken Platter which had five different type of chicken preparation with portion size enough for 6 pax. It's originally has mutton and fish too but we requested to have all chicken and the staff obliged. The sana dige basket consists of appam, neer dosa, Kotte and pundi. The staff are courteous and Sachindra and Ganesh were really helpful in suggesting food items. While price is slightly on the higher side, the taste was good of all items ordered were good except the fish and quantity was good too. A good option to explore while...
Read morePart of a highly-acclaimed chain of restaurants, Sanadige specializes in the food of coastal south India, especially seafood. The restaurant is situated on the 8th floor of the Goldfinch Hotel, and is spacious, upscale, with pleasant live music on the (weekend) night when we visited.
The menu is extensive. It covers even popular North Indian/tandoori dishes as well as popular Chinese ones, but since we wanted to sample local dishes, we chose a crab karavali curry; an anjal polichathu (fish smeared with a masala and steamed in a banana leaf package) along with bendakkai sole (okra with lots of grated coconut and kokum) and neer dosa. As a complimentary starter, we were given a basket of addictive fried crackers, and a selection of four different chutneys and pickles (including an unusual one for me, made from back grapes: delicious).
The food was uniformly good, though I wish there had been less of a gap between the service of the dishes: the okra was served up well before the crab and neer dosa, and had gone cold by the time the crab and dosa arrived.
Still, nice enough. The ambience is good, and the food...
