*A Culinary Gem in Trivandrum: Asad Restaurants and Bread Factory
Located at Overbridge, Trivandrum, Azad Restaurants and Bread Factory is a good choice for food enthusiasts. With a rich tradition of excellent food service dating back to 1947, Asad Hotel has established itself as a legendary culinary destination.
Multiple Outlets and Varied Offerings
Azad boasts an impressive presence in Trivandrum, with four restaurants and four bakeries (including the renowned Bread Factory) scattered throughout the city. Their commitment to serving high-quality dishes at reasonable prices has earned them a loyal following.
Masters of Non-Vegetarian Cuisine
Azad is particularly celebrated for its exceptional non-vegetarian offerings, with mutton dishes being a standout specialty. Personal favorites include their delectable Mutton Fry, Mutton Chaps, and Biriyani (available in both chicken and mutton options). On select days, their Mutton Kuruma is an added treat.
A Recent Visit and Enduring Excellence
During my recent visit on March 20, 2025, I savored the delightful Appam, Orotti, and Mutton Kuruma at the Overbridge outlet. The flavors were, as always, outstanding.
This three-storied A/c restaurant also features a ground-floor bakery named Bread factory and take-away section, where we will get grilled and Kadayi items .
The staff are consistently well-behaved and cordial. Throughout my association with Azad Restaurant, I've noticed several stewards employed for over 20 years. This suggests a strong ability to foster long-term staff relationships. This loyalty likely contributes to the staff's excellent behavior towards customers.
*A Minor Objection and Wholehearted Recommendation
Convenient Good location near to main railway station. While parking at the Overbridge location can be slightly challenging, with limited slots available,Also interior Dyning table arrangements is little congested.
These minor inconvenience is far outweighed by the exceptional culinary experience Azad provides. With over 30 years of experience as a loyal customer, I wholeheartedly recommend Asad Restaurants and Bread Factory to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience...
Read moreWorst experience ever.. We visited here with family followed by a shopping in nearby textiles. Reached there by 2:15pm and there is a long queue on each floor of the restaurant. There is only a narrow passage to the dine rooms and customers are allowed to wait on that passage. We got a seat after waiting 25mins exactly. There you have to rush inside and find a seat for yourself and nobody there will help to find one. After getting seats you need to wait for minimum 10mins for someone to clean the messy table.
Once the table is cleaned you need to wait even more 15 mins for someone to take your order. You will definitely get someone with a rude attitude and having no patience for hearing your orders and you don’t get any chance to speak any thing about the dish you need to order. You can’t ask them about the quantity or anything like that before you order. Bcz they don’t have much patience.
Even though this restaurant is famous for biriyani, they will prepare our order only after placing the order 😆😆
We got our order on table after waiting for another 35mins after making them alert about our order.
This is not only our experience. People on another table went out without having food they ordered.
Finally our order came. They didn’t give glasses on table. We asked the reason for not giving glasses and one of them replied that they don’t have enough glasses for all the table 🙄
Biriyani is below average. Both chicken and mutton. Porotta and veg Kuruma was good. We have ordered lime juice along with the main orders.. so that luckily we got the juice 15 mins after completing our meals🫢, which is something like adding lil bit of sugar and ice cubes to water 🤮 Presence of lime was not there.
Luckily they gave the bill faster than anything. We will never visit here again. And won’t allow anyone who’s planning to visit here😜😜
Note: There is no fan there and AC there is not...
Read moreNot recommended. Don't fall for the brand name. Years ago, Azad was the best restaurant in town. Before moving to another city years back, I was a regular customer of Azad. However, given the current scenario, it is the worst restaurant in town. Customer service is quite terrible. There were two Malayali waiters who served us; they were unaware of their responsibilities and did not even bother with customer service. We went to the restaurant at noon time(9/02/24). We were thirsty, so we asked one of the waiters for a cold water bottle. We waited 15 minutes for one bottle of water. It was not a rush at the time; he was wandering around, and when we asked him for water twice, he replied, "Kondu varam," in a very arrogant manner. Both the waiters' attitudes were similar to what we come there for free food and they were paying for it. They both lack etiquette and do not understand customer service or their responsibilities, in addition how to communicate with others. In terms of food quality, the chicken biriyani was below average, and the pineapple juice did not taste nice. According to the taste and quality of the food, the price is rather high. The dining space is kept quite clean, with adequate lighting and seating arrangements. However, the restroom is filthy and foul-smelling. The non-veg menu solely includes chicken and mutton; no beef is available. We have a baby with us, so we provided them a water bottle to fill with warm water. This guy put boiling water into the bottle, and it burned. Parking is quite unsafe. There is street parking available, however there will be no space to park even a two-wheeler. As a regular Azad customer, I wish Azad will try to restore their...
