A muted and unfussy open dining room tediously standard seating options at tables of four only.
A small selection of buffet dishes comprised both meat and veg, and each inoffensive; while the soups, one Continental and one Chinese style, were almost commercial in taste and texture. Bread rolls were freezer-to-oven jobbies. The pesto pasta was so plain it looked lonely and unloved. Plain basmarti and biryani rice was served, again toned down.
Meat dishes were tasty without being overly spicy (tawa fillets and meen fish curry), or tender (beef tournedos, dry as...). There was nod to Chinese flavours with an unencouraged live noodle station, sadly without a pulse. Salad choices were portioned Middle Eastern tastes, chicken coleslaw or a wet rice concoction, each indifferent or unimaginative, but with one thing in common: the labels promised more than the salads delivered – more cucumber than green mango, the chicken a garnish over the cabbage.
The desert selection was minimal but satisfying.
