I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ceylon Bake House, one of the oldest and most renowned names for biryani in Kochi. Their biryani had a distinct and delightful flavor that sets it apart from the rest, with just the right amount of spice.
But what really stole the show for me was the Alfaham paired with the heavenly butter nan. The meat was perfectly seasoned, and the nan was incredibly soft and tasty. To my surprise, they also provided a delicious gravy alongside the butter nan, which was a pleasant and unique addition.
The accompaniments, including kubbos, mayonnaise, and a spicy tomato and chili sauce, complemented the Alfaham perfectly. However, do be warned that the chili sauce is quite spicy!
For dessert, I tried the falooda, which was good, although not the best I've ever had. It came in a generous portion, easily shareable between two people. Thanks to my wife's help, we enjoyed every bit of it.
Overall, the experience at Ceylon Bake House was fantastic, and it's evident why this place gets crowded during lunch and dinner. To avoid waiting, it's best to go a little early. Keep in mind that there's no parking available, but you can use the pay and park facility opposite the restaurant.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a memorable dining experience with delicious food that's not overly spicy, Ceylon Bake House is a must-visit! ❤️ Thank you for the...
Read moreThe food was delicious. However, the behaviour of a staff member was impolite. I ordered a black coffee. But, I was served with a black tea and that too in a normal drinking glass (large size); the glass was not properly cleaned. However, I noticed that my fellow diners who ordered tea were given in a steel glass and saucer format. I asked the floor manager(the person who took my order) why I was given in a normal glass and that too an untidy one. The person replied, “Some people don’t like their tea being served in a steel glass, and maybe the waiter boys thought you did not like steel glasses, too”. To the person reading this, there are two things to be noted here. Firstly, my original order for black coffee was not ordered. And I never mentioned that I do not want my tea to served in a steel glass, nor did they ask me. Secondly, the floor manager did not take up the responsibility and did not acknowledge that a mistake from their side had occurred. He was, in fact, defending the whole event as if I am someone who is allergic to steel glasses. To the proprietor(s) of Ceylon Bake House (Since 1965), if they’re reading this, good food doesn’t matter if the people who are serving it doesn’t have the manners. I dined at your restaurant on 25 Feb, 25. I would never recommend this place solely because of the attitude of the people there and not because of the food...
Read moreCeylon Bake House - One of the oldest names i've heard when it comes to biryani in Kochi. They have a very unique flavor, which is not very spicy. For a change, this time I tried Turkish BBQ Alfaham with butter nan. The portion size was adequate.
The butter Nan was very soft and not rubbery, really loved the texture and taste. A gravy (without any meat pieces) was provided as a side dish. None of the restaurants that i've visited earlier have provided any side dish for butter nan 👍
Turkish BBQ Alfaham had good flavor. The meat had the flavors well soaked in. The accompaniments were kuboos, mayonnaise, and a spicy tomato and chilli sauce (really spicy).
Finally, had a falooda for dessert, not one of the best, but okay. It was served on a tall glass, can be had by two (I couldn't have finished it all by myself), thanks to my wife 😜
Overall, I enjoyed my evening here, which you might miss at some restaurants, however, delicious the food is ❤️ Thank you!!!
