A Journey with Mahi MadhavA Journey with Mahi Madhav
A Culinary Journey Through Kerala at Rahmath Restaurant If you're looking to indulge in the true flavors of Kerala, look no further than Rahmath Restaurant. Nestled in the heart of our bustling city, this gem is a haven for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic dining experience. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance that instantly made me feel at home. The menu is a treasure trove of culinary delights, featuring an extensive array of dishes that highlight the rich traditions of Kerala cuisine. I kicked off my meal with their famous Fish Fry, which was marinated to perfection and grilled to a crispy golden brown. The spices danced on my palate, giving each bite an explosion of flavor. Following that, the Kerala-style Prawn Curry stole the show. The delicate balance of coconut, spices, and the freshest prawns left me in a state of bliss. One standout has to be their homemade Malabar Parotta. It's fluffy, soft, and pairs beautifully with any dish, absorbing the delightful gravies. Speaking of which, the ambiance is perfect for families, friends, or even a romantic dinner, with rustic decor that enhances the dining experience. The staff at Rahmath is another reason to rave about this restaurant. They are attentive yet unobtrusive and genuinely passionate about sharing the rich heritage of Kerala food. Their recommendations are spot-on! To finish off, I absolutely recommend indulging in their dessert, the traditional Payasam. This sweet rice pudding is the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. In summary, Rahmath Restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s a celebration of Kerala’s vibrant culinary culture. Whether you're a longtime lover of Kerala cuisine or a newcomer looking to explore, you will undoubtedly leave with a satisfied palate and a yearning to return. Chef Mojo, hats off to you!

The staff were courteous and attentive, providing excellent service throughout my dining experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu and gladly assisted me in selecting dishes that would suit my preferences. The food at Rahmath Hotel surpassed my expectations. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing the culinary skills of the chefs. The flavors were rich, authentic, and a true reflection of the local cuisine. Whether it was the aromatic biryanis, flavorful curries, or mouthwatering seafood specialties, every bite was a delight to the senses. I was particularly impressed with the quality and freshness of the ingredients used in the dishes. It was evident that Rahmath Hotel takes great pride in sourcing the finest local produce and spices, resulting in a remarkable dining experience. The restaurant itself was clean, well-maintained, and had a cozy ambiance. It provided a comfortable setting to enjoy the delicious food and engage in conversations with friends and family. In addition to the exceptional food, the prices at Rahmath Hotel were reasonable and offered good value for the quality and quantity of the dishes served. It made dining at the restaurant a worthwhile experience. The hotel's location was also ideal, as it was centrally located and easily accessible to popular attractions and transportation hubs. Tucked away in the heart of Kozhikode, Rahmath Hotel is not just a restaurant — it’s a culinary landmark, a place where flavors are passed down like heirlooms and biriyani is served with reverence. For decades, this humble eatery has drawn in crowds with a magnetic pull, and at the center of that attraction: its legendary beef biriyani. The moment you step in, you’re hit with the unmistakable aroma of spices — rich, warm, and nostalgic. There’s no pretense here, only the comforting buzz of people who know exactly why they’ve come. You’ll likely wait in line, but trust me, it’s a small price for what awaits. First up, the beef biriyani. This dish is what loyalists swear by. Tender, slow-cooked beef melds with short-grain Khaima rice in a symphony of flavor that speaks to tradition and mastery. The meat is perfectly spiced — not overpowering, but deep and complex — and the rice soaks up all the richness without turning greasy. Every bite feels like a story being told by generations of cooks. The chicken biriyani, though often overshadowed by its beef counterpart, holds its own with grace. Juicy, well-marinated pieces of chicken are wrapped in that same fragrant rice, creating a slightly lighter but equally indulgent experience. It’s a crowd-pleaser that caters to both seasoned foodies and first-time visitors. What makes Rahmath’s biriyani truly exceptional isn’t just the flavor — it’s the pedigree. The recipes haven’t changed with time, and neither has the passion. You can taste the legacy in every grain, every spice, every morsel of meat. In a city known for its love affair with biriyani, Rahmath Hotel doesn’t just serve food — it upholds a tradition. And if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out on a piece of Kozhikode’s soul. Rating: 5/5 — For anyone who worships biriyani, this is sacred ground.

Last week, I went to Kozhikode with a bunch of friends purely for one reason — street food! And obviously, when you think of food in Kozhikode, the first name that pops up is Hotel Rahmath. No second thoughts, we headed straight there.

Food

We went for the usual favourites — their mutton biriyani, chicken biriyani, and kada fry, along with a few other dishes. This wasn’t my first time eating from Rahmath, so I already had an idea about their signature flavour. But honestly, this time I felt the taste had changed a bit compared to my previous visits. While it still holds a nostalgic charm and remains a decent option for biriyani lovers, I personally feel it’s a bit overhyped these days. I’d give the biriyani a 3.5 out of 5. The kada fry was good, but again, not extraordinary. Overall, the food is good, but not something I’d call exceptional anymore.

⸻

Staff & Service

Rahmath now has a new building close to their original location, which makes dining in more convenient. We were welcomed politely and guided straight to our table by their staff. I must say, the staff is well-trained, polite, and makes sure you feel comfortable throughout the meal. No complaints when it comes to service — they were efficient and attentive.

⸻ Ambience

This part is a bit tricky. The place isn’t really about ambience — it’s more about volume and crowd. Since they are always packed, and business is booming, the seating arrangements feel a bit chaotic at times. They’ve maintained a decent standard, though — you’ll find enough space to sit and eat with friends or family. But if you’re looking for a calm, aesthetic atmosphere, Rahmath isn’t that kind of place. It’s more functional than fancy.

Yes, Rahmath still gives you a taste of Kozhikode. It’s worth visiting once if you’re in the city and want to try the food people talk about. But manage your expectations — especially if you’re going in with the hype in mind.
