Expect to wait a long time. We came into the restaurant when there were barely any customers. We ordered food and had to wait a long time just to eat. After 45 minutes, we had to repeatedly ask when our food would arrive, and they repeatedly told us it was coming soon. After an hour, they finally brought out our food. During that time, other customers came in, ordered food, received their food immediately, and left. The dishes we ordered weren’t even complex. They’re common dishes in Kerala. They must've been slaughtering the animals in the back since it took so long.
When we tried to order a few items, they weren’t available. Not sure why there’s a 25-page menu if we can’t even order the items on there.
We asked if a few of the menu items had peanuts in them, and the waiter assured us that there weren’t any peanuts. When we received the order, the dish was sprinkled with crushed peanuts. It’s not stated anywhere on the menu that there are peanuts in the dish at all. We ate the dish and didn’t realize until after that it was peanuts sprinkled all over. We brought this to the waiter’s attention, and he smiled as if we made a joke, and said that we only asked about the Mexican bowl. But when we put our order in and asked about the Mexican bowl, we let the waiter know that we were asking because one of us has a peanut allergy.
When we talked to the manager about it, he excused the mistake and stated that the waiter thought it was about another dish. If we ask if there are peanuts in a dish, why wouldn’t the waiter bring up the fact that there are peanuts in the dish we ordered? We’re not asking as a joke, but for our health. The manager said that he would check with the kitchen if the dish had peanuts in it. He serves this dish at this restaurant and doesn’t know the ingredients? You don’t have to taste a lot just to know that it’s crushed peanuts. When the manager brought the bill, he sided with the waiter again, stating we only asked about the Mexican bowl. It’s really just common sense for a waiter to mention peanuts in another dish if you just asked about it two seconds prior.
The food wasn’t good and didn’t have any flavor. The chicken curry didn’t have any salt and pepper. After an hour of waiting, they brought out the Beef Bae, which they ended up cooking in front of us anyway. We waited an hour just for them to cook a dish in front of us. One of the Turkish starter dishes had only one piece of bread for a whole bowl of food and was filled with mostly oil.
This place is a disaster. The service was useless, the food was flavorless, and they clearly don’t take customer safety seriously. Waiting over an hour for basic dishes while others came and went was insulting. And serving peanuts after being told about an allergy? Completely unacceptable. Save yourself the headache and go literally...
Read moreMy spouse and I frequently traverse between our urban abode and our ancestral dwelling in the village, covering an approximate distance of 150 kilometres. The journey, typically lasting 3.5 to 4 hours by car, prompts us to strategically plan pit stops for meals or refreshments, contingent on the time of day. Despite the plethora of dining options along the way, none have consistently met our standards in terms of service excellence and culinary satisfaction. However, during a recent excursion along our well-trodden route, we decided to venture into Koco, a restaurant lauded for its exquisite cuisine, rustic ambiance, and reasonable pricing. Our destination was CMS College Road, and the clock struck 1:30 PM on a Sunday. Securing a parking space posed a challenge, but after persistent efforts, we managed to snag a spot approximately 20 meters from the restaurant. Stepping into Koco, we were met with a lively crowd of youthful students capturing moments through photographs and selfies. The bustling entrance hinted at a fully occupied establishment, leaving us slightly uneasy about securing a table. To our pleasant surprise, a Koco staff member extended a warm welcome and ushered us to a snug table indoors. The bustling ambiance inside did not compromise the efficiency of the service. The extensive menu, resembling an essay of around 10,000 words, offered a plethora of choices spanning Kerala, North Indian, Chinese, Thai, and Continental dishes. After careful deliberation, we settled on the Chicken Steak with Mushroom Sauce and Beef Lasagne, accompanied by freshly squeezed Moosambi and Orange Juice. For dessert, we savoured the Banoffee Pie. Our beverages arrived promptly within 15 minutes, followed by the main courses after an additional 25 minutes. The presentation and flavor of both dishes were exceptional. Although the portions seemed slightly smaller compared to similar offerings elsewhere, the cost was approximately 10 percent lower. The beverages leaned toward the diluted side, and the Banoffee Pie could have been enhanced by a subtler presence of "Palayamkodan" bananas, allowing the caramel layer to shine. Despite the lively atmosphere, we were impressed by the exceptional quality of the dishes and the efficient service. The extensive menu did not compromise the precision of our orders, and although the restaurant was somewhat noisy, it exuded a cheerful ambiance. While parking and securing a seat proved challenging, the clean and dry wash area, hassle-free digital payments, and the overall positive dining experience have inclined us to return for future visits. The narrow and challenging road to the restaurant resembles the journey to heaven, but the delightful dishes and atmosphere make it worth the effort. We look forward to being...
Read moreI visited ko co today to celebrate my mother’s birthday, expecting a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disaster, mainly due to the extremely poor customer service.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority. Not a single staff member bothered to offer water or even acknowledge us properly. Their attitude made us feel as if we were there for a free meal rather than paying customers. Plates were left uncleared for a long time, and the overall service was indifferent and unprofessional.
One of the main reasons we chose this place was their strong social media presence, but after this experience, I can confidently say that social media is a lie. The reality is far from what they portray online.
To ensure that this wasn't just a one-off issue, I personally addressed my concerns with the person in charge. However, instead of offering any explanation or apology, they remained silent—likely because they knew the issues I pointed out were valid.
The worst part came after our meal when we went to the wash area, only to find that there was no running water in the taps. We waited for 10 minutes, and instead of fixing the issue, the staff simply placed a small kettle for all the customers to use, leading to a queue just to wash hands—completely unacceptable for any restaurant.
This experience was beyond disappointing. A restaurant is not just about food; service and hospitality matter just as much. I sincerely hope the management takes these complaints seriously and works on improving their service because, as it stands, I would not recommend this place to anyone.
I would definitely not recommend this restaurant for a good dining experience and would give no star for them on...
