A Warm, Blissful, Ambient place settled within Vazhuthacaud that deliveres soulful flavours of excellent dishes. Each and every dish was met with a tingling burst of flavor that makes you want for more. Their strategy of a offering a balanced collection of Nadan and Continental cuisine does ensure that what is served is of quality with no exceptions.
Their starters of Broasted Fish (which we ended up repeating), Chicken Tikka Trio (which we almost repeated) were one of the best we have had in Trivandrum... Such succulent pieces that delivers impactful flavours were an instant hit amongst us. The Butter Garlic Prawns and Prawns is Mango Hebenero were equally good. If any, the issue was with the quantity...
And their main course continued to deliver as our expectations grew with the quality of starters. The American Mixed Grill Sizzler, Chicken Steak, Blackened Beef Ribeye were excellent and the Ribeye stole the show. Their Sufr and Turf that we had an earlier time was excellent as well.
So was their Local offerrings of Paalkappa with Beef Ribs (due to unavailability of Nadan Beef Curry) was nice as well, but I have to assume that their Nadan Combination that was unavailable would have been much better, 'coz their Paalkappa with Seafood Curry was a class on its own.
The North Indian dishes of Chicken Tikka Masala and Rotis were also a great feast to have.
After a satisfying indulge in such a flavourful feast, the desserts were up next and was no short of putting a smile on our faces. The Elaneer Payasam (though felt like a juice or shake) was excellent and so was their offereing of Belgian Chocolate cheese cake which had thick smooth chocolate the likes not seen elsewhere. The Creme Brulle was a standard offering though, however their Lotus Biscoff Cheese Cake was real good.
All in all a place that touched our heart with their food and has now come to be one of our favorite joints. Though not average priced, the place is not over the top priced as well.
But then why the 4 star instead of 5... Well, before we started off with their blissful food, there was a bit of disappointment when ordering. This, mainly due to some of the exquisite items not being avilable, which we were told only when placing the order or after placing the order. And these were items we were looking forward to have.. Like their Prawns wrapped in Chicken Bacon, or none of the Mutton dishes being available or the Nadan Beef not being available. And surprisingly, some of the items have not been there for sometime due to lack of order like their Octopus offerings.
If I may say, I would recommend their front staff to inform about the lack of items beforehand rather than dissappointing the customer after they take time in finalizing their choices. Or better yet, there's no harm in having daily printed menus highlighting their specials and other recommemdations as well.
Oh, and while getting feedback directly from customers are a great way to interact with them, it might be good not to overdo it by having everone asking for feedback often.
So there you go... Lantern Grove... A well deserved spot as a must go joint...

We had the pleasure of visiting Lantern Grove Restaurant for lunch today, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the stunning ambience. The décor strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, creating a welcoming atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The restaurant’s attention to detail in its design is commendable. The lighting was warm and inviting, and the seating arrangements were thoughtfully spaced, offering both privacy and comfort. Whether you’re dining with friends, family, or on a special occasion, Lantern Grove is a wonderful choice.
Now, let’s talk about the food—truly the highlight of our visit. We ordered a variety of dishes, and most of them were absolutely delightful! The Kanthari Fish (Sheri fish) was a standout, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavors. The spice blend was exceptional and elevated the dish to another level. The Chicken Steak was another favorite, tender and juicy, served with a rich, flavorful sauce that paired beautifully with the meat.
On the side, we had Buttered Veggies, which were fresh and cooked to perfection, adding a healthy yet delicious element to the meal. The Mashed Potatoes were creamy and comforting, a classic done right. We also tried the Garlic Bread, which, while decent, wasn’t as impressive compared to the rest of the meal—we’ve definitely had better ones elsewhere. However, the slight letdown in this dish was more than made up for by the overall quality of the rest of our order.
The Garlic Naan was soft, fluffy, and flavorful, a perfect accompaniment to the main dishes. For drinks, we opted for an Americano and Lime Tea, both of which were refreshing and hit the spot. The Lime Tea, in particular, was a refreshing end to the meal, balancing the richness of the dishes we had.
The service at Lantern Grove Restaurant was impeccable. The staff were attentive, polite, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. From helping us navigate the menu to promptly attending to our needs, their hospitality made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Pricing was reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food, service, and the overall ambience. It felt like an excellent value for money, and we left the restaurant feeling happy and satisfied.
Overall, Lantern Grove Restaurant is a gem that excels in providing a well-rounded dining experience. From the outstanding Kanthari Fish to the delightful Chicken Steak, the thoughtful service, and the beautiful setting, everything came together perfectly. While there’s some room for improvement with the garlic bread, this small detail hardly takes away from the overall experience.
If you’re looking for a place with great food, a fantastic atmosphere, and exceptional service, Lantern Grove Restaurant is highly recommended. We’ll definitely be back to try more dishes from their extensive menu. Five stars...
Read moreUnlike most of the reviews I saw about this restaurant, my experience is almost the opposite. Infact I visited there after seeing and hearing too many positive reviews.
Service : I visited the restaurant on 1st or 2nd March 2025 in the evening. The dishes I ordered were Egg Fried Rice, American Chopsy and Dragon Chicken. I waited for almost 45 minutes and the food was not served. Infact, the tables which were occupied much after my visit was already served food. Then I was forced to complain regarding the same to the waitress who took the order about the status of our order and her standard reply was we have ordered specialty dishes which needed more time to cook. I just told her politely to look at the tables which were occupied after we came and what type of dishes they have ordered. Then she immediately went to kitchen and in next 10 minutes first they served fried rice, then American chopsy after 10 minutes and Dragon chicken after 10 minutes . The person who served the food again came up with funny stories and I just kept quiet. The waitress who took the order and rectified the mistake atleast had 0the minimum decency to say sorry and kept quiet. I appreciate her for that maturity. That is one reason why I hold on from writing the negative review.
Food Quality - Fried rice was okay but the Dragon Chicken and American Chopsy were actually horrible .. May be because they stated preparing only after we rechecked the status of our order.
The reason for making this experience public - After this horrible service and food, once I was leaving another staff came there to collect phone number to be recorded in their register. I just asked her the reason for the same and the reply was just to maintain record (They had a physical register for that). An entity which have a process of maintaining records like this may have a feedback / complaint register also. So I requested for the feedback register and her reply was we dont have it. Collecting customers phone number is actually unnecesary (from customers point of view) for a restaurant business . Having a feedback / complaint register is a means of showing some sort of respect to customers (in my view). So I felt that a restaurant which is so eager to maintain a register to collect phone numbers and too arrogant not to share feedback register deserves a google review of my...
