Recently went to YouMee, the Asian restaurant located inside Forum Mall, Kochi, and it was quite an enjoyable dining experience. Tried their Char Siu Pork Belly, Katsu Chicken Ramen and YouMee Goreng.
The Katsu Chicken Ramen was the absolute star of the meal. The coconut milk-based broth was rich, creamy, and incredibly comforting. It had just the right balance of flavors, and the crispy fried chicken on top added great texture and taste while the caramelized mushrooms were amazing. A bowl of this is a must-try if you're visiting.
Char Siu Pork Belly is a fantastic appetizer. The pork was tender and truly melt-in-the-mouth. The glaze was spot-on: slightly sweet, savory, and beautifully caramelized.
The YouMee Goreng, even though it is visually appealing and well-portioned, the flavors didn’t quite match up to the ramen and pork belly. It wasn’t bad by any means, just a bit underwhelming compared to the rest. I've definitely had better versions elsewhere.
The restaurant has a quirky and fun decor, with bright colors and playful design elements that reflect a vibrant Asian street-food vibe. The seating is comfortable, though not luxurious.
Service was friendly and efficient. The staff were attentive and helpful, but only had generic knowledge of the menu and recommendations. While not every dish blew me away, the highlights, especially the Katsu Ramen and Char Siu Pork Belly were exceptional. Combined with a lively atmosphere and decent comfort, it’s a great spot for anyone looking to explore quality Asian...

Dropped 4000 bucks on a "course meal" at YouMee, and I think I now understand the name. It's probably short for "You... me... and a bunch of confused chefs."
We started with something called sushi chicken katsu, which tasted like an identity crisis on a plate. It’s not sushi. It’s not katsu. It's just... there. My family enjoyed it though, so maybe it’s just me. (Or YouMee? See what I did there?)
Then came the Korean fried chicken, which smelled a little too fermented. One bite and we sent it back before it turned into a science experiment. Bonus points for the waiter not arguing, probably because even he looked concerned.
Just as we were considering making a run for it, the bao pork arrived like a tiny, fluffy hero. Juicy, tasty, and the only reason this review isn't a 1-star roast.
The miso pork ramen was okay-ish. You know the kind of average that makes you go “eh”? That.
Dessert actually surprised us—the Thai water chestnut was light, refreshing, and briefly made us forget about everything that came before. We were almost happy... until the bubble tea rolled in after dessert like it forgot it was invited. Pearls were so chewy, I considered checking if I’d accidentally ordered boba chewing gum.
For ₹4000? Let’s just say I’ve had better meals and fewer emotional roller coasters at mall food courts.
Rating: 2 stars if I'm being generous. YouMee has potential, but right now it’s more...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to try Japanese cuisine for the first time, and it turned out to be a vivid and memorable experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and welcoming, perfectly setting the mood for an authentic culinary journey. The service was excellent—staff were attentive and polite, contributing to an overall smooth dining experience.
One of the highlights of the meal was the pork ramen, which was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The portion size was generous, easily enough to be shared between two people, making it a great value in terms of quantity. The broth was rich and aromatic, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the pork slices were tender and well-seasoned. It truly set the bar high for any future ramen experiences I might have.
However, one aspect that caught me off guard was the 10% service charge added to the bill. While the service was undoubtedly good, it would have been better if this charge was communicated clearly upfront. The overall pricing leans toward the expensive side, especially for a casual dining experience.
That said, for those planning to visit, I highly recommend using the Swiggy Dineout offer, which helped soften the blow on the final bill. It’s a great way to enjoy quality food without stretching your budget too far.
In conclusion, if you’re curious about Japanese cuisine and don’t mind spending a little extra, this place is definitely worth a try—especially for the ramen...
