This 80 years old Delhi based brand needs no introduction. They've proved themselves many times by getting multiple certificates and prizes all these years, also own the title King of Naan for serving best naans and now they're in Kolkata.
They've made a very nice family restaurant type comfortable ambiance, very well maintained, neat and clean, ample available tables and more than enough staffs to assist. But service is bit slow. I ordered their Chef's special and best seller items.
Soya Malai Chaap - 6pcs @ Rs.385 (2/5) This Delhi specialty starter in general tastes wonderful and its replacement of Afghani Chicken for vegetarians. But they somehow weren’t able to achieve the taste.
Chaap pieces were too small and the taste of the malai didn't went through. Malai taste could've been better and the veggies could've been little more roasted. I'll say Veerji Malai Chaap wale make way better chap for cheaper. For almost Rs.400 it really hurt my pocket.
Paneer Butter Masala - Half @ Rs.385 (5/5) The texture of the gravy with the perfect blend spices, it was one of the best Paneer Butter Masala I've ever tried. Although there weren’t many paneer pieces but they were fresh and in triangular shape. Gravy tasted amazing and portion was good too. Undoubtedly it’s a special and highly recommended item.
Cheese Garlic Butter Naan - Baby size @ Rs.365 (4/5) I went there empty stomach for lunch by skipping the breakfast to try their special Kake size naan but by seeing the crazy around Rs.500 price tag I ordered the smaller one.
So they're known for their naan and I must say their naan tastes and feels completely different than any other restaurant in Kolkata. It wasn't too thick, neither too thin like a papad. Just the perfect naan with ample butter and garlic but very less cheese that wasn't overpowering, still tasted very good.
Pricing Total bill for just 3 items for 2 people was Rs.1300. Considering this is a pure veg restaurant the prices are quite high. Actually, they've increased the prices to double since its launch in just 2 years. Big brands in our city offer veg food way cheaper. They also added service charge so I asked their staff to justify the high prices but he didn't respond.
Conclusion Mr Rohit Bhoot the owner of Kolkata franchise has clearly targeted to loot Kolkata people. The Cheese Kake naan that costs Rs.225 in Delhi and Rs.185 in Siliguri costs Rs.425 in Kolkata. The same Rs.200-300 increased price is applicable to all other dishes. Example. Paneer Butter Masala costs Rs.245 in Delhi compared to Rs.525 here.
Why so DISCREPANCY to Kolkata people?
The brand Kake Di Hatti is obviously running all these years because they've that magic in their food. Unfortunately, in Kolkata the owner is trying to compete with 5 stars in prices, so I'll not contribute to his dreams next time, but if you have money...

Read moreKake Di Hatti - Since 1942 - Kolkata Chandni Chowk's Kake Di Hatti since 1942 is now in Kolkata! All the way from the heart of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk, to Kolkata, the iconic north Indian vegetarian eatery Kake Di Hatti since 1942 has opened doors in Bhowanipore. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and warm. The friendly staff is always ready to assist you with your order and suggest the best dishes. The best part about my visit was the lightning-fast service. On a busy Sunday, the waiters were bringing out the dishes in no time, be it the starters or the main course.
One of the unique offerings of the restaurant is the Biggest Naan in India. The naan is so large that it is served on a table-like platter and can easily feed a group of 4. It is freshly baked and comes with a lot of options. The naan is soft and fluffy, and the perfect accompaniment to any of the delicious curries on the menu. Kake Di Hatti is a must-visit restaurant for those who love traditional Punjabi food, and the Biggest Naan in India is definitely a highlight of the menu. Moreover, we ordered Paneer Butter Masala and Dal Makhani. Both of them came in a clay pot, or a Handi, and tasted divine.
