||Kasturi - Real Taste of East Bengal||
Kasturi is one of the reowned brand name for serving authentic dhakai dishes & putting smile on the face with their food. Bengali cuisine is such a cuisine which require variety in every dish from beginning to end of meal.
It is located in ballygunge near Patha Bhavan Montessori Section/ Ballygunge Durga Bari. It's on the main road only, paid car/bike parking available on the road.
Ambience is very cozy. Tables are placed very close to each other & they put steel sofas in place of chair which are too much uncomfortable. During rush hours you can't move properly. Cutlery used are of very cheap quality. Bengali restaurant atleast serve in brass utensils but they used cheap quality steel utensils & spoon are not there on table. Hygiene issue is there due to lack of proper cleaning.
Staff behaviour is pathetic. They are more busy to serve online orders rather than walkin customers like we are not going to pay. When we enter & asked a waiter to take our order the rough reply from his side was we will take order when we will get time. After that we wait for more than 40mins still then no one came but after shouting atlast one came & take our order. After ordering they take more 30 mins to serve & attitute of them you can't tolerate. Everytime they are coming with wrong items & again going back to take what we actually ordered.
I have moderate experience with food. Somd items are really good but all the fish items uwful. Bengalis have different emotion with fish & they can't serve not a proper fish preparation.
In food we have -
Sukto Sona Moong Dal Jhuri Aloo Bhaja Kochu Pata BataChingri Bhapa Ruhi Kalia Bhetki Kalia Bhetki Paturi Ilish Bhapa Mutton Duk Bunglow Chutney Steam Rice
All the fish portions are not good. Even the fish pieces are not good. Most of the items served cold. Ilish was just Hilsa in name there is no taste. They actually don't know the meaning of kalia they were serving fish curry & named it kalia. Not at all satisfied. Not...
Read moreKasturi is a Bengali restaurant that specializes in serving authentic Bengali dishes. Located in the Ballygunge , Kasturi is a popular spot for those looking to indulge in some traditional Bengali cuisine. I recently had the opportunity to dine at Kasturi and here is my review of the restaurant.
The menu at Kasturi is impressive, featuring a wide range of Bengali dishes, from seafood to meat to vegetarian options. I was particularly excited to try their famous fish curry, which is a must-try dish for anyone visiting the restaurant. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the dishes and was happy to recommend some of their popular dishes.
As soon as my food arrived, I was immediately impressed by the presentation. The food looked fresh and vibrant, and the aroma was enough to make my mouth water. I dug in and was blown away by the flavors. Each dish was prepared with authentic Bengali spices and herbs, and the taste was simply out of this world. The fish curry was the highlight of the meal, with the fish being perfectly cooked and the curry being spicy and tangy at the same time.
However, there was one downside to my dining experience at Kasturi - the portion sizes were quite small. While the quality of the food was excellent, I found that I was left wanting more. This was particularly disappointing given the relatively high prices of the dishes. Nonetheless, the taste of the food was so good that I couldn't help but order more dishes to satisfy my cravings.
Overall, I would highly recommend Kasturi to anyone looking to try authentic Bengali cuisine. The taste of the food is outstanding, and the ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for a cozy dinner with friends or family. While the portion sizes may be on the smaller side, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. So, if you are in the mood for some delicious Bengali food, head on over to Kasturi - you...
Read moreI wanted to try some bengali food and somehow after some google as well as soul searching reached Fish Fish a restaurant which I discovered had closed down. The Guard of Kasturi told me Khaye nin enhancing.. Please eat here where else would you go. Dreading at not having read any reviews I went in. The restaurant was partially occupied where patrons knew exactly what to order. Being as clueless as I am about anything in life I asked the waiter to help me out. He explained each dish with patience. He explained the species Fish for me. A true bengali guy at heart. I ended up ordering rice and aar fish which was so subtle in its flavours that my vocabulary will be inept to describe. Then as suggested I went with the eternal favourite Chingri Malai curry which is prawns cooked in cocky milk. I am typing this review a good 3 hours after having the meal so in full senses I say. Kasturi is the best when it comes to bengali food. No fuss no nonsense like ballygunge place or other exorbitant but distasteful restaurants. After meal I made a friend with the guy who served me. And while coming out the guard salaamed me and smiled as if to say " See I told you to eat here"...... Hands down the best bengali food experience for a non bengali guy... Kasturi you deserve more than the five...
