Really nice 'sushi'-tastic experience at this small/ cosy, offbeat sushi joint on Bondel Road. Went there for lunch with a friend last Sunday. For starters, we took 2 sushi dishes - the ebi/ prawn tempura roll with tanuki flakes and the samurai roll, which had squid and prawns/ shrimps. The samurai roll was a chew-ilicious revelation, thanks to the squid. It was an amazing medley of colours and flavour/ taste (see the attached pictures). While the ebi tempura roll was its usual crunchy delicious self. For the main course, we took the Japanese sticky rice (chicken) and the prawns with water chestnut and brocolli. Both were nice - especially the chicken sticky rice since it had actually had the sticky rice (typically used in sushi) and also had a shredded fried egg along with chicken pieces. Ironically the only dish that wasn't fantastic enough was the dessert - the (seasonal) mango praline tart. It was nice enough - but had a hard time living up to the sheer delicious-ness of its predecessors. In all, it was a really nice and peaceful sushi/ Japanese food experience at a small (it has only 5-6 tables), cosy and offbeat place (which was relatively empty even on a Sunday afternoon). It was pocket-friendly as well - since my friend had taken a brownie for dessert - and the total bill (for 2 sushi roll starters + 2 main course dishes + 2 desserts) came to approx. INR 2300 for the both of us. Am I going back for seconds? Ab-sushi-lutely.

The newest place in town located at Ballygunge, Snack on Sushi is an absolute wonder for all Sushi and Ramen lovers. With it's cosy interiors and overwhelming brightness, the place is absolutely instagram-worthy and sets the perfect tone to dive right into the menu. Specials from this place must include Chicken Katsu Roll (sushi), Samurai Roll (sushi), Avocado Roll (sushi), the Siyo Aromatic Seafood Ramen, Chicken Coriander dimsums, and the Thai Tom Yam Soup. This place does take it's food quite seriously and hence the choice of a precise and limited menu. One is sure to experience umpteen quality and exotic flavours as the portions are not just filling but quite nicely organised and presented. Special Recommendation: Thai Curry with Plain Rice. Visit this wonderful place at the soonest to meet all your Asian food cravings, and thank me for sure! đŸ€—đŸ’•

The ambience of this place (though small) is fantastic, and much influenced by Japanese culture. It has calm, cute, joyous vibes which'll definitely make your day. If you're a Japanese food enthusiast, a must go-to place!! I had a plate of sushi and a bowl of chicken ramen, which made me feel like heaven on Earth! The sushi was so soft, with apt amount of everything, literally, it's the best I ever had! And the ramen, oh boy, couldn't just stop myself from taking one after the another bite. The chicken was soft, the egg perfectly cooked, the broth was delicious, the veggies also tasted divine! In all, it was a fantabulous experience in this awesome café!

Veg Sushi Boat - The sushi was disappointing, they don't let you customise the boat which was quite unexpected and they just give you the cheapest ones from the menu. We only liked 1 out of the 4 which was probably their cheese roll, the rest were very disappointing and taste kinda lifeless (you get much better sushi at OneTon and that too for cheaper)

We hadn't heard good things about their ramen and udon so we ordered the: Chilli Garlic noodles - Quite balanced flavour with the right amount of garlic and spice. They use high quality noodles which is appreciated.

Mushroom and Waster chestnut in Hot Garlic Sauce - This is technically not a part of the menu but if you ask the chef they will be ready to prepare it and it is recommended as the sweetness and fruitiness of the chestnut really works well with the spicy garlic gravy and with the mushrooms and veggies it contains all the textures you can imagine.

They serve the 20rs cold drink for 40rs which is again unacceptable.

Final verdict - All the dishes that they advertise their brand on are very underwhelming and the basic stuff that they do well is available at much cheaper rates at a plethora of other places. So you can...
