Deshaj has always been one of my favourite places — I really love their store. However, I have several reservations when it comes to their cafe. The menu is far too heavy on fried food, with hardly any healthy options available. In today’s time, when a large number of people are allergic to milk, plant-based milk alternatives should definitely be offered.
Though there is a wide range of beverages, the overall food menu really needs improvement. They should consider offering a variety of bread options like multigrain, whole wheat, and sourdough, along with healthy spreads like guacamole and peanut butter. Simple, wholesome dishes like boiled eggs, guacamole and sourdough toast would be a great addition. Tea options could also be expanded to include Oolong, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey, served with honey or masala (something like Hajmola masala) in handmade ceramic tea sets to match the lovely ambiance.
Fresh fruit juices would also enhance the experience. Honestly, with such limited healthy choices, I struggled to figure out what to order. Service too leaves much to be desired.
Another major issue is their timing. The store opens at 11 am, which is far too late for anyone looking for a breakfast option. Breakfast should ideally start by 8 am.
Coming to their website — while it looks very impressive visually, the functionality is equally disappointing. I love shopping from Deshaj, but when I’m out of town or wish to order online, the experience is extremely frustrating. The website is not user-friendly at all.
Overall, while the store remains close to my heart, the cafe and online experience need serious work to match the brand’s otherwise...

Went here on Tues evening with my friend. The place looks like a boutique store cum cafe. A 10 seater cafe with a short menu. Had ordered a plain milk tea (Rs 89) and one Grilled Egg Chicken Sandwich (Rs 219). The tea was simple and decent. Now coming to the point, the sandwich came in 4 pieces with few French fries. What really did annoy us was the usage of "brown bread" in the Sandwich (nowhere mentioned in the menu) with excessive ketchup sauce inside the bread and outside too, don't know why making the whole dish really terrible. I mean why would someone payment 219 for a brown bread with only ketchup in and out with just a little stuffing of bit of chicken chunks, egg, raw onions and veggies with no Mayo sauce at all. Also, if they are even using ketchup sauce, atleast inform the costumers while we place the order. That's a basic sense. We immediately called one of the staffs and informed our entire concern and told her to exchange it. She even understood and told she will go into the kitchen and exchange. But after few mins, she comes back with inside discussion with her team saying they make sandwich using ketchup only and they won't be able to exchange it. I mean seriously?? I would pay 219 for a brown bread with tomato sauce which I can easily make at home that too even better than this. You guys should either change the chef or change the menu mentioning your own weird recipes. Spoiled our entire mood and total waste of money.
