Alright... It might take a while to actually express this place. Not a big fan of sushies 🍣, hence we didnot try any. It could be possible that the sushies here are really good. However, my personal opinion about this place's food is not very high. We ordered a Korean Fried Chicken, Chicken yakitori, Miso Ramen, Prawn Hargau(crystal dumplings) and Milk Chocolate Eclair. The best dish here and I have every tried would be the Milk Chocolate Eclair. I am pretty sure this is the best dessert I have ever had. It was just perfect. The choux pastry had a bit of crunch and the filling inside was so fluffy, decadent and light. It was a perfect symphony in my mouth. The second dish I would recommend is the Prawn Hargau. it tasted really good. The Prawn inside was perfectly cooked. It felt like a warm hug from within. From this I think we can derive that dimsums at this place will be one of the best dimsums we have had. However, prawn crystal dumplings from Fatty Bao would still be the best crystal dumpling I have ever tasted. This would be second in rank.
Coming to the other 3 dishes. It was not very nice. The korean fried chicken felt very floury. It had an after taste of flour, that is not a good thing about fried chicken. It's a 5 for me. Miso Ramen: Subjective. Depends on taste buds. The broth had a fishy smell. The sea weed didnot taste good to me. The sesame paste from the broth left an after taste of bitterness. I didnot like this at all, but I would not rate this. The reason being, I am not sure how actual miso ramen tastes. It might as well be how actual Japanese miso ramen tastes and it could be the best in town. Personally for me it will be not be a dish i will try at soy yum again. Chicken yakitori: It was nice but nothing wow'y about this. It was alright. 7 out of 10.
The ambience is alright some seats are really aesthetic and that perticular mirror thing in the stairwell is a pretty lil' place.
To sum up. It didnot meet the expectations I had developed reading the existing reviews about this restaurant. However, I would visit this place for dimsums and desserts over...
Read moreThis is a must visit place for any Japanese and Korean food lovers. Situated in Southern Avenue near Nazrul Manch this place offers a wide range of Japanese and Korean cuisine, amazing beverages and some exquisite dessert options. The ambience would take you to Japan and every corner is Instagram worthy. Coming to the food, from their drinks menu we tried their Strawberry Matcha Iced Latte. Honestly, I wasn’t a big fan of the taste. The picture in the menu looked really nice so we ordered it but since my palette doesn’t agree with either the strawberry or matcha flavour it was like a 6.5/10 for me. We then ordered Kimochi which was like a small bao burger with a crunchy fish fillet from the breakfast menu and it completely turned the tables. The bao bun was soft and the fish was succulent. The garlic aioli provided a different depth of flavour while the lettuce and fried onions provided the crunch. It was served with fries on the side. Honestly a 10/10. From the appetizer menu we tried the takoyaki which was honestly 11/10. Soft octopus balls with their in house sauce and bonito flakes on top was a delightful bite to have. From their sushi menu we tried their Osaka Maki. Prawn tempura with salmon avocado and truffle mayo served with wasabi and soy sauce. I would recommend this for anyone trying Sushi for the first time. The meaty salmon with the crunchy prawn tempura mixed with the earthy truffle mayo and saltiness of the soy sauce with the pungent spice of the wasabi, having all that was like a burst of flavours in your mouth. Ended on a sweet note with their fluffy Japanese Souffle Pancakes. It was like having a sweet pillow in your mouth. They serve it with cream cheese, whipped cream, ice cream and blueberry compote on top. Overall Ambience: 💯 Service: 💯 Food: 💯 This place must be on your...
Read moreSome places don’t just serve food—they serve memories. And this restaurant? It strikes the perfect harmony between flavour, service, and soul. Everything here was chef’s kiss—from the first bite to the last lingering sip. We had such a good time that we ended up staying longer than planned, nursing our coffee and matcha lattes until we couldn’t finish them, eventually asking our ever-patient server to pack them up for us.
As for what graced our table—two hearty bowls of ramen, sushi that tasted like a quiet symphony, one iced americano, and a strawberry matcha latte that looked almost too pretty to drink. The portion sizes were generous, as they often are in Japanese-Korean fusion spots, and the pricing felt more than fair for the quality and care in each dish. What makes the experience even better is the staff. They’re attentive without being overbearing, happy to walk you through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, answering every question with a smile.
The atmosphere? It’s a tapestry of warmth and nostalgia. A cozy yet refined space where vintage Japanese posters and playful art pieces line the walls—each telling its own story—while rustic wooden tables and soft lighting create the kind of space that makes you want to stay. There’s a plant in the corner soaking in the sun like an old friend, and a soft, nostalgic charm in the way the space is arranged, like a hidden pocket of calm in a loud city.
If I had one wish, it would’ve been for rain that day. A soft drizzle tapping against the windowpane would’ve wrapped the whole experience in a warm, cinematic kind of magic. But maybe that’s what the 0.1 is for.
All in all? A glowing 4.9 out of 5. I’m saving that last fraction for the next visit—one where I’ll be sitting by the window, sipping something warm, while the rain finally...
