Thakali refers to the cuisine of an ethnic group from Nepal. However, in Bengal, the term "Thakali" is often associated with the act of fooling or cheating people, which is exactly what I felt happened here.
Like many so-called "authentic" places, this one is also run by Biharis, so don’t expect Tibetan people, food, or service.
Green Apple Boma Can @ Rs.189 (1/5) Passion Fruit Boma Can @ Rs.189 (1/5) I tried the BOMA drinks, and they sell these canned drinks for Rs. 189+ GST. It feels like daylight robbery for a can of colored water packed with excessive sugar and little flavor. Not only does it taste bad, but it’s also extremely unhealthy.
Chilli Pork Dry @ Rs.360 (2/5) Chilli Butter Wings @ Rs.370 (4/5) Pork Steamed Momo @ Rs.190 (2/5) Mutton Steamed Momo @ Rs.440 (5/5) Chilli Pork dry was below average but Butter Wings were impressive. The Mutton Momo was surprisingly good, even better than their Pork Momos. However, charging Rs. 470 + service charge for a plate of 10 momos is excessive. Each momo had less than 5g of meat, and the price doesn’t justify the portion size or quality.
Chicken Fried Rice @ Rs.330 (2/5) Hot Garlic Chicken @ Rs.280 (1/5) The Chicken Fried Rice was basic, with a very small portion for the price. The Hot Garlic Chicken tasted like Sweet and Sour Chicken and was the worst I’ve had at any restaurant. It was essentially chicken pakoras tossed in ketchup, and it was hilariously bad. Honestly, even a street food vendor could make this dish 1000 times better.
If you're planning a gathering here, I’d recommend spending a few thousand more and booking a trip to Darjeeling or Gangtok. You’ll get much better food directly from authentic sources.
I had visited this place a while ago, and it was great value for money, which is why I decided to return. However, recently, prices have shot up by 5-6 times.
They completely ruined our Puja lunch, and no one was happy with the food or the prices. We could have easily opted for a much better buffet at this price. I now regret suggesting this place...

The food of this place touched the soul and when I'm saying this I mean it. The ambience was not an extraordinary one but the quality of the food served were truely and genuinely extraordinary and worth the money. This place has both chair-table sitting arrangements plus sitting in the floor arrangements.
The dishes ordered were - •STEAMED CHICKEN MOMOS- It was damm good, all juicy and the stuffings were great. ❤They served 10pcs and it was lovely.
•MIXED FRIED RICE AND PORK SHAPTE -What to say about this dishes. Never tried such fried rice before. It was so damm tasty. Perfectly cooked. And the showstopper was the PORK SHAPTE, while trying it I almost forgot that it's not chicken but pork. Not at all over sipcy , truely amazed to taste this. It's a must try from this place. We ordered two bowls of fried rice and a single bowl of shapte. It was enough for 2person.
•KATHAE- It's basically a paratha stuffed with chicken keemas and a single paratha cut into 4pieces. I tried it at last so couldn't enjoyed it wholly, but it was also a great one . Each plates consists of 4pieces.
Loved all the items. Quantities were also great. And nothing to talk about the qualities. Totally amazed to visit this place. ❤ As a Chinese food lover, it is now my favourite place to go whenever I crave...
Read moreIt's a shame that I've to update my review after my latest vist after 1 year. Straight 1 star from 5. We ordered 4 dishes and all of them are bad in taste. The pork in starter smels like raw meet. The garlic fried rice has no garlicky taste to it. The American Chopsuey was the worst, it was so sweet and feels like the cook dumped a bottle of sweet ketchup. The Tibetan chicken was a bit decent but tastes like dhanya chicken. I'm not going back to the restaurant I once love. It was a huge disappointment. And the prices were also hiked a lot.
I'm keeping my older review as well just for the retrospect. One of the best Chinese food ever. Everything was good the momos were awesome, the pork dish was too good. Must try for everyone. They have a great ambiance as well. Two different dine in section, one like a modern restaurant and one like a traditional table. Unfortunately we couldn't experience the traditional section, but will go again soon. Even the beverages were good. The options of condiments on the table were also multiple with all high quality products. They have changed their menu to digital as well where you need to order from your table through scaning...
