The Bodhisattva Restaurant and German Bakery, has a prime location, right next to the Buddhist Gonpa doors in Leh's Main Market, but it's easy to miss it, as the facade doesn't stand out against the competing facades of nearby shops and eateries. The cake counter faces the street, so it does attract some attention, as it did mine. I ventured inside to a cozy space, designed like a traditional Tibetan/Chinese restaurant with red spherical Chinese paper lanterns, dragons painted in blue and gold, walls the colour of saffron-yellow, and Tibetan motifs and designs everywhere, including golden-yellow, pleated cloth, fringing the ceiling, just as they do in temples. The menu is a bakery-cum-momos affair, coffees, lassis and shakes. I ordered a cappuccino and a piece of chocolate walnut cake. The cappuccino was extra hot just as I like it. The cake, on the other hand, was bland and abysmal. I guessed, it was eggless, something the restaurant confirmed later. After finishing the nice, hot cappuccino, I sat in the café checking my email and browsing the net for global news. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, the colours inside warm and comforting. I'll certainly be returning to check out their momos.

One of the worst cafe and bakery experiences I've had. Went there with high expectations as we had heard quite good reviews about the place. In fact, the first time we went, we were asked to come after 20 mins as the place was packed full. Speaking about the place, the inside of the cafe isn't very spacious, and it has a very limited seating capacity of around 10-12 people. Coming to the food, we ordered cheesecakes, pies, and even pastries. The cheesecakes disappointed the most, with both the apricot and the lemon cheesecake having a sour aftertaste indicating a stale feel. The chocolate cake was quite dense, and not very good to eat. The pie and the crumble were not very good either, with too much stuffing and not very delicious either. The cappuccino was okayish, and that was probably the only item which was kinda edible. The staff were quite rude as well, with one of them literally throwing down the plates at our table, and not attending to our requests of just an additional spoon even after asking multiple times. All in all, it was a very bad experience for us, both in terms of taste as well as customer satisfaction.

Hidden Gem in Leh Market I recently visited Bodhisattva - German Bakery & Restaurant in Leh Market, and it exceeded all expectations. The five-star rating is well-deserved for its delectable bakery goods and diverse menu. The ambience creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The owner's hospitality adds a personal touch to the dining experience, enhancing the overall enjoyment. I highly recommend this cafe to everyone, urging them to visit, particularly during winters. Supporting such local gems during low tourist turnouts is crucial, and Bodhisattva is definitely worth the visit.

Quite disappointed with the cafe In ordered some chocolate walnut cake and cappuccino both were not upto the mark. The cake was full of some sand or dust kind of things which made that unbeatable and coffee was not really hot. On complaining they didn't do anything and charged the full amount but that's ok but at least a small apology could have been better. Pricing was on the higher side. The 4 staff were constantly chitchating on loud volume and was totally not bothered about customer seating and eating inside. And all of a sudden they started brooming the place while I was having my coffee and cake. Overall a very poor experience. Hope they change their service quality and attitude otherwise there are many decent cafes in the...
