I visited Mohan Bhojanalaya for dinner, which serves Marwadi and North Indian food. The food was good, with authentic flavors and decent quality. However, the service could definitely be faster. It seemed that the staff, all of whom appeared to be family members, were not very organized, which contributed to the slower service.
The restaurant itself was quite cramped, with little space to move around comfortably. It felt a bit unclean and messy, as the staff members were constantly roaming around, making it difficult to navigate through the space. At times, the lack of coordination made the experience feel a little chaotic. It might help if the restaurant could assign specific table numbers to each staff member, which would streamline the service and reduce confusion.
Though the food was average, the long wait for the dishes to arrive was a bit disappointing. It could have been much more enjoyable if the service had been quicker and the space better managed.
Overall, Mohan Bhojanalaya has potential, but improvements in cleanliness, staff organization, and service speed would make a big difference. It’s a decent place if you’re craving North Indian or Marwadi food, but don’t expect the fastest or most comfortable...
Read moreAfter visiting Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, one person gave us a card for Mohan Bhojnaalaya, which mentioned they serve North Indian food. Based on that, we went there and ordered 4 thalis, each costing ₹130, and were told that roti is unlimited.
When the thali was served, we received only 3 rotis each. Later, we asked for 5 extra rotis, and they served them without saying anything about extra charges. After finishing our dinner, we paid the full amount — ₹520 for 4 thalis — and left.
But after we exited, one staff member called us back, and the owner started shouting at my father, demanding ₹100 more (₹20 per extra roti). He was very rude and aggressive, even though they never informed us earlier that extra rotis would be charged. Just to avoid further drama, we paid the ₹100.
This kind of behavior is disrespectful and feels like a scam, especially for North Indian tourists. The food is just average, definitely not worth the treatment we received.

Read moreI discovered Mohan Bhojanalaya during my visit to Madurai, and it quickly became my favorite North Indian restaurant. Being a vegetarian, I was thrilled to find a place that offers authentic veg Jain food. The dal makhni was a symphony of flavors, and the aloo paratha and plain paratha were reminiscent of homemade goodness. However, what truly impressed me was the attention to detail and the warm service provided by the staff. They made me feel like a valued guest throughout my dining experience. To complete the meal, I indulged in their heavenly lassi, which was the perfect blend of sweetness and tanginess. Mohan Bhojanalaya is a true...
