Had good reviews about this restaurant which is located at Yanaikal silai in Madurai, we went there to taste their food, we were able to locate it easily following Google maps,
We bought chicken biryani, Parota, Chicken Chukka & Kolumbu Kalaki, Yo be very honest I can't believe the 5 Star reviews given for the taste, Taste of all that we bought other than the Parota was hugely disappointing,
Biryani was bland and didn't taste even closer to Muslim Biryani(Mughal Biryani), chicken Chukka is supposed to be dry but what we received was something like chicken korma which tasted very ordinary, Kolumbu Kalaki was filled with onion and was too bad, the only saving grace was their Parota which was far better compared to other items we ordered.
2 chicken Biryanis, 2 chicken Chukka, 5 Parotas & 6 Kolumbu Kalakis billed to 545.00
The owner bhai seems to be a friendly person on seeing us get off from Ola (though we came to madurai by car, we never use our car locally since Parking is hell in most of madurai) enquired if we took Ola for his hotel,
He informed us they have a branch somewhere near Matuthavani itself which we were not aware of,
It is a small restaurant with 6 to 7 tables, They have an AC family hall as well which is next to this, I would prefer takeaway from here rather than dining here, Their menu is a limited one for lunch, They have Chicken Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Chicken Chops, Naatukoli (Country chicken) chops, chicken chukka, Malabar Parota (which they are famous for) and meals.
Check my photographs I have uploaded their Menu list, I am not sure about the taste of their other items but biryani was very ordinary including the Chicken chill & Gravey given for Parota.
The only advantage is they have takeaway even at late night. I would certainly skip...
Read moreI recently visited Sulthan Non Veg Family Restaurant and had a pretty good experience overall. If you're looking for a budget-friendly place that still delivers on taste and quality, this spot is worth checking out. Not every outing needs to be at a high-end restaurant, and Sulthan offers a great alternative for a satisfying, pocket-friendly meal.
The quantity of food served was generous, which is always a plus, especially when dining with family or a group. The quality was decent, and most of the dishes we tried were flavorful and well-prepared. The non-veg options were especially good — cooked just right and nicely spiced.
The only minor issue I had was with the salt level in the food — it was slightly low for my taste. However, this is a personal preference and didn’t significantly impact the overall enjoyment of the meal.
The restaurant has a family-friendly vibe and feels welcoming. It’s not overly fancy, but it's clean and comfortable, which is what really matters when you're there to enjoy good food.
Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a satisfying non-veg meal without burning a hole...
Read moreLooks were always deceptive. Proved in the case of Sultan hotel.
Initially I was worried about the outer look of the hotel since we are going to hotel along with the hotel. Then we came to know there is a AC hall to accommodate the family.
To start with the highlights!
Briyani: one of the top notch briyani I have ever tasted. Being a fan of seeraga samba rice, I loved the taste. Since the quantity was very less, it forced me to get another plate of briyani. Just yummy it was.
Then come the side dish. I got the chicken chops. Then I found the chops is of country chicken. Very tender the gravy is not much spicy. Gives a subtle taste. Rightly cooked.
Then comes the serva kalaki. The kalaki was a bit over cooked. Except that, the taste was too good.
Chilli chicken is as normal as other hotels. Nothing to make a big write up.
The disappointment is the quantity of briyani and side dish is very less and unavailability of parota broke my heart. Overall, a good experience with...
