Temple City — Restaurant in Madurai

Was searching for some Veg hotel who provides Meals between 11:30 - 12 noon. Found this hotel with good feedback & rating. Also provides lunch from 11:30 am. So went there which is on the main road in between Madurai Railway Station and Bus Terminus. Normal middle class hotel. One restroom was there. We were the only couples for lunch around 11:45 am. Service was slow and lethargic. Only one type of meal was there as Elai South Indian sapadu so we ordered. Banana leaf in round Steel plate with all dishes in cups (payasam, sambar, Rasam, 2 poriyal, vatta kolumbu, kootu, Curd + appalam) were given. Unlimited rice. Extra dishes if required are given. Buttermilk is additional. No chapati / pori, raita, ice cream or beeda in our plate meals as shown in photos of other customers. Average taste of all the dishes. Sambar was watery. Rest of the dishes was okayish. Bill Rs. 200 for 2 people meals. We ate in 3 different veg hotels during our stay. I would rate this hotel in 3rd place. Their seating place was good but near hand wash it was untidy. Water on floor and lots of used tissue papers were on floor with over flowing dustbin. Beedi shop next to this hotel had good...

Good food at worst atmosphere.

Had pongal + vada + coffee = 110Rs + 10 Rupees tips.

Pongal is good meets my expectation. Vada as well is good but not hot.

Coffee decoction is good but milk is mediocore that spoiled the coffee taste. Don't use mediocore milk brand milk pockets and use milk from paal pannai as used by hotels nearby for good taste.

Service is good - very fast. Though not professional service, it is ok.

The main negative is their maintenance of the hotel. It was too dirty and not even in clean shape. They should have provided closed AC dining for this price (its not cheap) but chose to keep the entire hotel front (30 feet) kept OPEN in front of main road - all the dust from buses/auto/biktes are happily entering into our food. More over the sofas/chairs are very old / pathetic and we could see very mediocore.

Even small restaurants keep their hotel environment nice now a days, not expecting this from...

Food was quite good but the owner was rude with me. First i was taking my time reading the menu, and he took it out of my hand to give it to another customer. Then he kicked me out of The restaurant because i stayed for a long phone call, even if the restaurant was empty and still opened. I didn't feel welcome at all, almost as if they don't want strangers to go and eat there. That was my impression. The woman waiter was quite nice but didn't really speak english.
