Read moreGood food, great vibes, our visit to Asia Kitchen was quite memorable. We decided to try the widespread buffet here that brings the streets of Asia to your plate!
Started off with a warm bowl of comfort — Manchow Veg Soup as well as the rich and hearty Eight Treasure Chicken Soup.
For dumplings there were two options, Chicken and Straw Mushroom Siu Mai Dumplings and Vegetable Basil dumpling with both steamed to perfection. We loved the non vegetarian option more and ended up ordering it twice.
The Prawns Tempura Sushi was also quite devouring and had the perfect balance.
There were two types in chilli appetizers, Jiang’s Chilli Cottage Cheese and Sriracha Chilli Chicken, bringing bold spices to every bite. We enjoyed the Cottage Cheese more here.
Crispy on the outside, tender within, the Salt & Pepper Turnip Cakes were also quite yum.
Fish in Soy Chilli Garlic, this was really delectable and enjoyable till the very last bite.
For mains, we had Chicken Hakka Noodles, Chicken Burnt Garlic Rice, Spicy Clay Pot Chicken, Fish in Hot Basil Sauce & Japanese Yellow Curry with shrimp. Both the rice and noodles were fine with spicy clay pot chicken being the pick.
For desserts, we had Daarsan with almond flakes, Hot Chocolate Rolls, Brownies and Ice Cream.
We also tried their add on mocktails such as Bali's Tropical, Peach Blossom and the classic Mojito.
So much flavour. So many favourites. This was a all in one buffet and we loved everything we had here. The staff was also quite courteous and helpful. The perfect place to hangout for your big family dinner or even with friends. Can't wait to...
Read moreComing from the house of Anjan Chatterjee, the expectations run high. But it was quite ordinary in Asia Kitchen.
We went for the buffet. The lemon coriander soup was good. There were 7 starters but only two were good - the chicken in brown spicy sauce and the prawn.
The main dishes were just about okay - included fish, chicken and crab. All fish preparations were in Basa, which tasted like boiled sponge, irrespective of preparation! One of the chicken main dishes could have been spicy - but there was no such surprise. Desserts included custard caramel, ice creams, jalebi (jilipi) - these somehow saved the day.
When starters were being served, the waiters were hurrying as if somebody else will snatch the food if we didn't eat quickly! Unbelievable in a fine dining place. They slowed down only when we told them twice. The staff looked exceptionally young, possibly new recruits or interns.
The ambience is very good and that includes the furnishings, table get-up and serving line. The serving bowls, however, should have locking lids (hydraulic or spring fittings) - because otherwise the customer cannot hold his plate, keep the lid from closing and serve himself, all at the same time.
In all, you can bring your guests here for a memorable lunch or dinner. But there is much room for improvement in Asia Kitchen. Somebody has to think the way Mr Chatterjee used to think in his haydays. Somebody has to think Indo-Chinese, which means there should be influence of Nepali, Bhutanese and Thai cuisine in the Chinese that is served. Standard or 100% authentic Chinese doesn't...
