Hopscotch - Bar And Kitchen — Restaurant in Mumbai

Today its 19th Feb., 2018. Google Maps sez that I visited this place 6 months back (since the day of me writing this review).....Hmmmm....for a pub that's a stone's throw away from my residence...and for a guy like me who visits a pub every 2-3 days and can definetly afford this place...i STILL choose to avoid it for 6 months...why so ?

Maybe because the service ain't upto mark in terms of delayed orders...

Mebbe because they are unreasonably touchy about patrons sitting at the bar clicking photos of their "patented drinks & decor" that may get "leaked & later, imitated by competition" if posted online (SERIOUSLY ??? U r a public place...if the drinks n decor were really a piece of art that can be "imitated" why display it publicly at all??)......

Mebbe because ,when pointed out that patrons sitting on proper tables were nicely taking shots of their food n drinks and immediately posting them online without caring two hoots about asking anyone while I wasn't being allowed to despite having the decency to ask their permission...[something that wasn't even required of me, technically since that's not the norm and no signage of any sorts too, for me to request permission]...I was given the shockingly ridiculous response that while it was allowed for ppl sitting on the tables, it wasn't allowed for patrons like me sitting at the bar !!!

Mebbe because while the owner of this establishment is sitting inside wining and dining with his friends, he doesn't bother to come and hv a word with a patron when requested to, whose money btw is giving the owner the opportunity to treat his friends in the first place....and actually tell the bartender and manager to tell the patron that "he's not available" and "not present" (unfortunately for the owner, the same bartender had earlier pointed him out to me...so I could actually see him hobnobbing with his guests as the poor manager was at pains to explain to me that he wasn't physically present !)....

Mebbe because they don't respect my hard-earned money and are not ready to provide the service that is expected out of a hospitality outlet...

Mebbe because they are unnecessarily snobbish and place unreasonable demands of customers while remaining totally aloof of their customers' plight.....

In all fairness, the name of this outlet was different when I visited it 6 months back. I again visited it 10 days back. Dunno wedr the establishment's management etc. has changed or not...didn't even bother to enquire since I'm not gonna patronize this place. Far too many other outlets in the surrounding areas to even bother visiting them again.

But for those who still wanna visit,few pointers true even as of Feb. 2018:

1. Overly priced drinks and quantity less

2. Same with food.

3. Too loud music....one has to actually go out of the establishment to have a proper phone conversation.

4. Crowd was young ...but it wore too much of a deserted look for a Saturday evening.

5. No offers 24 X 7 X 365 on drinks.

6. Staff was courteous and decent.

7. I don't know whether the stuff that I mentioned about my experience 6 months back above (like taking permission of the bartender to take snaps of ur own drink, purchased with ur own hard-earned money, and post them online) is still valid or not.

8. Strictly avoidable. Better to visit other establishments nearby. U'd hv tons of options to suit your wallet, crowd,atmosphere,etc., near Khar road station, which is a 5 minute auto ride from this...

An average place with decent cocktails but really below average food. Actually if I think about it I think it was very bad. The only reason that we went over here was Zomato. Zomato gold provided us with a one plus one or two plus two offer on food and drinks. the cocktails like Jager bomb were really good. The washrooms were pretty clean. Service was a bit slow. The good mood that was made because of the cocktails was ruined by the food and the service. The Ambience was decent and so was the music which was being played by the DJ. He had all the latest tracks and by virtue of being the only group which was in the restaurant we were the ones who are requesting and the DJ was playing all the songs for us. I wouldn't really recommend this place if you have any other options but if you don't then it is good enough to use your...

Music was fine, food was mediocre but this place is toooo pricey! Additionally they charge a service tax of 10% which inspite of my constant persuasion - it is at discretion of customer to pay, they made me pay stating it's mentioned in menu. Also, we went at around 7 30-8 pm so we had an encounter with rat which came from kitchen. So I went and checked the kitchen to see the cleanliness, it was clean but then overall not a place I would recommend...
