A Disappointing Experience at Mirai, Bandra Our recent visit to Mirai for a Sunday brunch was anything but pleasant. Having made a prior reservation, we expected a well-managed dining experience. However, upon arrival, we noticed a large group of expatriates mostly company executives who were speaking loudly. Initially, we assumed it was just casual conversation, but as our drinks and starters arrived, their laughter and voices escalated to an almost deafening level. Concerned, we asked our server if this was typical, and she casually responded that it was “normal.” Shortly after, the situation took an even more disruptive turn. The group began delivering speeches in the restaurant, with their colleagues loudly cheering after every sentence. At this point, it felt more like an office gathering than a dining space. When I raised my concerns with the manager, his response was disappointing. Instead of addressing the issue or offering a solution, he remained indifferent. I asked him a simple question: “Had this been a group of Indians being this loud, would you have allowed it?” He had no answer. It was evident that the restaurant had no intention of maintaining an environment that respects all guests equally. What was even more disheartening was the fact that, despite our complaints, some members of the group mockingly laughed and clapped as if amused by our frustration. The restaurant not only failed to inform us in advance about such a gathering but also showed no effort in maintaining a balanced dining atmosphere. To add insult to injury, we were still charged the full amount, including service charges despite the fact that there was little to no service when it came to ensuring a comfortable experience for all diners. I paid the bill in full but I refused to pay the service charge, as it was undeserved. If that wasn’t enough, another serious concern arose after our visit. Since last night, my wife and two friends who dined with us have been experiencing severe food poisoning. Along with loose motions, they have been suffering from constant nausea and vomiting. This raises serious questions about the restaurant’s hygiene and food safety standards. Mirai, unfortunately, prioritizes its profits over guest experience. The restaurant’s acoustics amplify noise significantly, making it unbearable when large, unruly groups are present. And now, with this food poisoning incident, it’s clear that their lack of concern extends beyond just the ambiance. If you are considering visiting, I strongly recommend calling ahead to check if there are any group bookings and thinking twice about the food hygiene before dining here. A restaurant should treat all its patrons with the same level of consideration and ensure a safe dining experience. Sadly, Mirai failed to do so on both counts.

Located in the heart of Bandra, Mumbai, MIRAI Japanese and Korean Dining offers a curated culinary experience that seamlessly merges the nuanced profiles of Japanese and Korean cuisines. The ambiance is a studied blend of modern minimalism and traditional accents—featuring warm wooden tones, ambient lighting, and thoughtfully arranged seating that promotes both intimacy and visual appeal. MIRAI delivers on every promise through a multi-sensory, elevated experience. The ambiance strikes a refined balance between modern minimalism and traditional Asian aesthetics, marked by warm lighting, clean design, and subtle cultural accents. Whether you're here for a quiet dinner or a spirited evening of karaoke and BBQ, the space accommodates it all seamlessly. Service throughout the evening was exemplary. The staff demonstrated a thorough understanding of the menu and provided insightful recommendations tailored to our preferences, enhancing the overall dining experience with attentive yet unobtrusive hospitality. We started our meal with a lineup of beautifully presented appetizers. The Prawns Tempura were airy, crisp, and fresh, with a delicate dipping sauce that let the seafood shine. The Gyoza had a perfectly seared base and a juicy filling, while the Kimbap was neat, flavourful, and offered refreshing balance. Korean favorites like the Tteokbokki—spicy, chewy rice cakes bathed in a rich gochujang sauce—and Rabboki, a hybrid of ramen and tteokbokki, delivered bold flavors and textural depth. The Oh My God Roll was a showstopper—visually stunning and layered with contrasting textures, umami, and just the right hint of spice. To pair with the meal, we explored two of their signature cocktails. The Nippon Margarita was zesty with an umami twist and a salted rim that elevated every sip. The Ancient Spiceroad was bolder—aromatic, deep, and surprisingly smooth—ideal for those who enjoy spice-forward blends with a twist of intrigue. For dessert, we shared the Ice Cream Platter, featuring a strawberry-flavoured mochi alongside scoops of matcha and black sesame ice cream. The dessert was elegant and restrained, closing the meal on a refreshing and authentic note. MIRAI isn't just another fusion concept—it’s a thoughtfully crafted destination where Omakase tastings, interactive Korean BBQ, and private karaoke rooms come together in a cohesive and stylish setting. A must-visit for anyone seeking a refined yet vibrant take on Japanese and Korean cuisine in Mumbai. In conclusion, MIRAI stands out as a destination in Mumbai for authentic, well-executed Japanese and Korean fare. The meticulous attention to detail in both service and culinary execution positions it as a recommended choice for discerning diners seeking a culturally immersive experience.

After getting to sit only for a little while in Kuuraku, we ended up going up by one floor to this amazing restaurant. Since we waltzed in at the very last minute without any reservation, we ended up having to eat at the bar which gave us like an omakase experience. Side note: they do have an omakase experience here. The food is good. We went for a prawns tempura sushi which was well seasoned, prawns tempura, very well prepared, and drizzled with the right amount of sauce. We also had a plate Spicy Stir Fry Chicken to sample their Korean offerings. This dish was decent and could do better with some more tteokbokis in it. We ended our evening with their Bean Jam Pancake with ice cream and I believe it could be better. The beans needed to be creamy and not chewy. That thing alone couldn’t help tie it all together. For those who want to drink Asian drinks, I actually recommend this place because a lot of Sakes are reasonably priced. I didn’t check out the sojus unfortunately. The place has a good vibe. It has a bar sitting area, a dining table area and private booths where you sit to dine traditionally with your shoes outside the booth. The booth area could be well equipped to keep the shoes stacked somewhere in order to avoid stumbling over other people’s shoes. Service was what I loved here. The attendants proactively came to understand what customers need and they gave enough space as well. Just the right sweet spot when it comes to serving customers. Looking forward to getting a proper seat for my next time.
