Jugheads The Unrestaurant — Restaurant in Mumbai

A recent experience that I wish to share about this place....

It was a meeting that each one of us yearned for. A bond so strong that eventhough one of us being in a different country,the distance just couldn't separate the three childhood bffs.

A meeting after two years, two whole years, more than 730 days. The protagonist, let's call him Mr. USA had come home - his friends, family, relatives, loved ones, all his near and dear ones lived here. How could he not love this place? After all, he was meeting his two long lost friends after ages.

He had arrived a week ago, but was too busy to even call us. It's understood, family and relatives come first, the friends come later! Subject to the availability of each one of us,after endless days of permutations and combinations, finally all of us were on the same page, we agreed upon a specific date and time- 19.11.2018, in the afternoon at 2pm, lunch and drinks, just like the old college days, where we sang songs after getting drunk and made all sorts of promises to each other, that none of us remembered the next day!!!!

The day finally came after waiting for 2 long years, I just couldn't wait for the three musketeers to be reunited. However, due to Mr. USA's airtight schedule, our meeting was delayed by a full 3.5 hours. I had eaten lunch by then, but just a little bit so that I keep my tummy a half empty for the tasty beer.

Nevertheless, he came. At once both of our faces lit up in joy and my heart almost skipped a beat when I saw him after sooooo long. He hadn't changed one bit.All of us wanted to walk down the old memory lane, we wasted no time in catching an auto rickshaw to this new place that we found online. A place that serves alcohol at straight 50% during 12pm to 8pm, aka the "happy hours".

We immediately fell in love with the place as we stepped in. There Was a small TV on which a football match was being broadcasted, soothing music in the background, the perfect dim lighting, relaxing for the eyes, the paintings on the wall, the comfortable chairs, the epic backdrop where we could see the sunset live and the best part was , the bar was empty!!!!!!...We had the whole place to ourselves to sing, dance, make merry and make those lofty promises once again to each other. It was a fairytale come true, everything so perfect. No further words to describe it.

We started bickering again, on which drink to order like the good old days. I always used to love the way we would fight, but somehow find common ground,on which the three of us would agree upon. We called for the waiter, to take our order and were still haggling on what to order.

Promptly,a middle aged smiling man, sharply dressed,wearing a blue shirt, and a crisp checked tie, hair perfectly cut, clean shaven, armed with his notepad and his golden pen approached us. He heard our order multiple times as we ourselves were still debating. He took notes carefully, he scribbled multiple times, as we cancelled and reordered one drink after another. After listening to us blabber for close to 5 minutes, he leant forward and politely said " Sir, aaj ekadashi hai, aaaj dry...

Extremely unhappy the way this particular outlet serves and treat their customers. They are CHEATERS and a serous blotch in the name of jugheads chain of restaurants.

They bill u for additional drinks which u don't even realise if u don't bother to check the bills. We realised it the next day. It has happened with the other customer next to our table but the ladies were smart enough to check the bills to point out their malpractice. Next day when we questioned them for the wrong billing the manager claim that they don't do such things here without any proof. That means their customers that too a regular one is wrong and a lier but only these thieves are entitled for a clean character. They show us the cam recording which doesn't have the recording of our table which was also allotted by them. So they have absolutely no proof of their honesty whereas we clearly remember how much we drank and what was the amount served to us..

In addition to they being dishonest, there is a serious lack of quality in the food they serve. Makke ki roti is mixed with maida (refined flour) and sarson saag has no sarson but palak (spinach) only with absolutely no taste even near to what the real sarson saag taste like. Singapore noodles served was cold and never had the same kind of dish ever in my life. I use to frequent them before covid due to acceptable standard in food options but after covid this was my first visit and it seems that the resturant really lack any standard in its food quality along with the intentions of its staff...covid can not be the reason for detiroration in service when u still charge the same or higher . Horrible, thakur Village doesn't deserve such shabby people running such kind of resturant here... There are many other options in the vicinity offering value for money in terms of quality in service and satisfaction out of it.... Absolute disgrace.... Never in my life i will ever visit any jug head restaurant or even recommend it to anyone...

The higher management responsible in running the brand is requested to contact me if they aren't also the part of such malpractice being carried out in their outlet. This needs a thorough investigation and action needs to be taken on staff(managers)...

When you want to unwind after a hard day at work, meet up with your friends and share a laugh. Then this is the place to be ☺️

FOOD

Spicy Chicken Wings : This one was absolutely worth the tears… the wings were perfectly cooked & crisp from the outside. The sauce in which the wings were tossed was sweet & spicy both.

Chilli Garlic Fish : Basa fish stir fried in Chilli Garlic Sauce. This one was just okie. And it was salty.

Chicken Chilly : Traditional chicken chilly garnished with Spring onions. Was good.

Chicken Tandoori Half : The tandoori was well cooked and the masala was lip smacking. It was serviced along with a salad & green chutney. The quantity was quite good for a half portion of Tandoori. Had 4 Big pieces.

Schizuan Paneer : Paneer tossed in a red sauce. It was good but was a bit too greasy.

Garlic Bread Cheese : Will not recommend this one. The Bread was soft and wasn’t toasted enough. The texture of cheese was chewy & it lacked the flavor of Garlic.

Cheese Chilli Balls : Another disappointing dish. The cheese balls had no flavor. The cheese they use for their dishes is not really great.

Stuffed Cottage Cheese Steak Sizzler : Paneer was stuffed with Mushroom, Gherkins & Cheese. Was very bland and it was merely a Big Paneer ball. Not very appetizing. Served along with fries, white sauce sweet corn, veggies, Mashed potato in green capsicum along with rice. Apart from the stuffed Paneer, rest was good. The sizzler was served along with a Mushroom Sauce. But the quantity of the sauce was less and it just had more of the mushrooms pieces into it.

Sizzling Brownie : Will not recommend this one. The brownie was just so dry and not flavorful at all. The Chocolate sauce was ok. Served along with Vanilla Ice cream.

FINAL VERDICT

The vibe of this place is really good which appeals you to visit it. But the food is just average and...
