Poor. Poor. Poor. It is any taste but not the taste of Kolkata. It was after quite a few years I visited this place, my 2nd visit and this time it was takeaway. I asked for Basanti Polao and Mutton Kosha, both not available, they suggested me Chicken Kosha and Vegetable Fried Rice. The representative even insisted that the fried rice is just like polao without the colour and has kaju, kishmish. I ordered that. And he insisted to taste the Kolkata Biriyani. So, we ordered that too. To be ready in 15 minutes, it was finally ready in 45 minutes. Now the dinner scene. The Food packets opened at home and we served ourselves. As we served, we were already in doubt as the color and texture of the both the rice didn't look encouraging. As we started having the food, we were utterly disappointed. The so called Kolkata Biriyani was far far far away from the original taste. The Vegetable Fried rice was vegetable fried rice and had absolutely nothing to do with Basanti Polao even without the Color. The chicken kosha was standard. Well, the dinner...
Read moreWe had visited this restaurant located in Thakur Village in Kandivli for dinner during Gathahari Special Time. This restaurant is popular for traditional Bengali cuisine though it also has Chinese dishes on the menu. The restaurant has only non AC section though seating options are limited. We sat in the Normal section which is No any Interior. We had ordered 3 pieces of egg devil, 3 pieces of fish cutlet, 1 mughlai paratha, 1 plate chicken kasha and 2 pieces of lacha paratha. Food was delicious but service was bit slow. Bill was only 2050 rupees which is really Tasty. This dhaba style restaurant is in thakur village kandivali east . amd serves bengali cuisine. it is a smaller cheap joint so not comparable with oh calcutta or bhojohori manna.Fish items are ok decent.Rest is all average Parking - No parking facilities , you have to park on the road opposite to the restaurant - 6 on 10...
Read moreJust took parceled chicken biryani from their stall in Durga Puja pandal in Kandivali, Thakur village and was very disappointed by the food. The rice was uncooked, they had not put Chicken in all the 5 parcels that I took and also the food seemed to be something that was returned from another customer and was given to me which is why it was not fresh and was not hot. Upon that when I asked the person giving the parcel that it did not seem hot, he bluntly lied that it was freshly made and that they keep parcels ready for customers. Very bad experience specially from a good brand like Taste of Kolkata. Hope the franchise owner as well as the founders take note of the same as well as to all you guys out reading this, be alert and careful...
