Matunga gymkhana has been there for quite some time. There are many sports facilities available here such as tennis, squash, table tennis, snooker and pool, cards, swimming and badminton. It also has a great gymnasium. Apart from sports the gymkhana also boasts of a great restaurant and a good cafeteria which is located on the ground floor. It is very beneficial for a member as it's economical, although a non member would have to pay a huge amount just to enter the building. There are various events held by the gymkhana during various festivals such diwali, holi , Christmas , new year etc. There is parking available to members which is great. If you are a non member, you may face difficulty in finding parking outside. The restaurant has recently been renovated. It is the home to clubs like New Hind Sporting Club where the youngsters can enroll for a cricket course and hone their skills.
It is also known as the Major Ramesh Dadkar Maidan and also houses the Zoroastrian Cricket Club.
It is located in Central Mumbai, opposite to Ruia college and is close to Matunga Central Railway station, around a five minute walk. The Dadar station is not too far and is under 10 minutes by cab.

Being a railway gymkhana we expect the security there to be good. I and my friend lost our mobile phones and wallet there and no one knew about it and when we went to the police station to complain we came to know that such instances take place there very frequently and i am surprised that this hasn't been taken care of. This is really sad in a country where we are trying to bring an end to such practices. Kindly look into this matter and do something with this or else i would be forced to take this matter with the higher authority( Mr Suresh Prabhu and Railway ministry) Hope i get a reply from some reliable source...
