With so many pizza options, it can often be a gamble to choose a particular place. My decision to go to 1 Tablespoon Pizza Kitchen, thankfully, turned out to be an excellent one!
Location They have outlets in Lower Parel and Matunga with the latter serving pure vegetarian items (I visited this one).
Seating and Ambiance The Matunga outlet is pretty small with seating for around 10 people (maybe their focus is on delivery?), but the space has been done up with a very soothing vibe - my meal was a comfortable and peaceful one.
Service The staff was very courteous and knew the menu well enough to offer suggestions based on personal preference.
Food My friend and I started with GARLIC BREAD WITH MOZZARELLA paired with CHEESE DIP and THOUSAND ISLAND DIP. The garlic bread had a bun-muska vibe (see picture for reference) which was something different for us. However, the bread was fresh and the flavour was great! The dips were off-the-shelf products (and were good).
Next, we ordered the BLOWING FIRE pizza which came loaded with toppings and had a burst of crunch and flavour with every bite.
Next, we got a Half-n-half pizza (it's off the menu but we asked REALLY nicely and they obliged 😁) with ROSA MEXICANA on one side and BIANCA on the other. The former had a light Mexican Masala touch to the sauce while the latter had onion cream sauce - both, I'm happy to write, were absolutely scrumptious!
Note : They have 2 crusts - Artisan (hand-tossed) and Italian (thin). Both our pizzas were thin crust and had a satisfying crunch to them.
Note : The bases are made fresh and their toppings are of excellent quality!
To supplement our food, we ordered the following beverages :
Pink Lemonade - Lemon Ice Tea - Gianduja Shake (Chocolate & Hazelnut) - Caramel Peanut Butter Shake
All the beverages were served in rectangular plastic bottles. The water based drinks were good, but the shakes stole the show! Thick and bursting with flavour, they were some of the best shakes I've had!
Finally, we finished our meal with 3 ice cream scoops :
- Gianduja - Caramel Peanut Butter - Red Velvet Cheesecake
The first two were obvious choices because we were so in love with the shakes while the third was a suggestion by the staff. How were they? Heavenly.
Note : The ice creams are in-house ♥.
Conclusion : If you live within their delivery radius or are in the locality, 1 Tablespoon Pizza Kitchen is an...
Read moreThis is my kinda place.......calm , serene , away from blaring loud music , away from the crowd , away from the monotonous dim light scenes , away from quirky drama . Tucked in one of the bylanes right behind Donbosco school Matunga ; 1tablespoon is a lilliputian Italian joint where I would simply love to go again & again .
Yes this is located in the compound of a building but it has a charm of its own .With only 4 tables , this is one unique place which is ideal for a cosy romantic undisturbed date with your loved one , or a serious meeting where you just want to spend enough time with your colleague in the company of soul comforting food or simply spend some relaxing time all alone with some thriller novel & warm cheesy delights .
The interiors are basic but classic in their own way as its more of a delivery outlet .
We tried the dark belgian chocolate milkshake & the hazelnut milkshake . Both get full marks as they were served chilled in plastic bottles with quantity sufficient for one person .The shakes were flavourful , filling & delicious & felt as if you are drinking liquid icecream . Loved them both .
The garlic bread with mozzarella along with assorted dips was a total delight .The bread was super soft , spongy & stretchy which simply dissolved in the mouth .Must Try.
Next we tried the Pasta Al Arrabiata .The quantity is sufficient for 2 people if you plan to try more items . The pasta is well cooked & the basil leaves impart aroma & freshness to the dish along with fresh veggies .
Blowing Fire caught our attention while browsing through the menu so we ordered it & were very happy with what landed on our table . Freshly made pizza dough from scratch topped with tomato pizza sauce , mozzarella cheese , mushrooms , capsicum , jalapenos , tandoori paneer & onions . I just wanted to sink my teeth into this beauty & forget the world for those moments . Chilli oil is provided along with chilli flakes & oregano as add ons .The portion is sufficient for 2 people which we devoured slowly relishing & simply enjoying every bite during dinner time with the cool winter breeze of Mumbai .That feeling of sheer bliss needs to be experienced & cannot be explained in words. This small place is tucked away in the by-lanes close to Don Bosco school and exactly opposite Sahakari Bhandar store. We could easily locate it tonight because it was lit up for the New Year celebrations, otherwise I guess it is pretty easy to miss out.
It operates out of a quiet residential building with only 3 tables put up in the compound for people to sit. The kitchen is facing the dining area i.e the compound. The orders are passed through a big window. One can also see the ovens from dining area.
Well, we visited here @ around 8 pm on December 31st hence it was a bit windy and pleasantly cold. They have taken care to clear up the dining area and do some decent gardening / landscaping to trim the plants, put some decorative pieces etc, gives a good look to the dining area.
When we arrived here, there were no dine-in customers but they had their hand full with delivery orders.
We ordered for the following: 1] Rosa Mexicana Pizza - We ordered it in Italian crust. The pizza was crispy as promised. I was a bit apprehensive that the pizza would be very spicy but I was told that I would be mild spicy and if required can be made spicy. Loved the pizza, the cruch of the crust and it was over in minutes.
2] Penne Arrabiata - Perfect sauce made from tangy tomatoes with right amount of garlic, topped with black olives. But the pasta was a bit over cooked as it was breaking up linearly while I was picking it up with the fork. Apart from that, it was yummy.
3] Tomato & Basil Panini - Nicely toasted and crispy bread with sliced tomatoes, basil leaves and cheese [mozzarella, if I'm not wrong].
The service is nice, warm and efficient. They are more into home delivery than into dine-in. They also had many customers waiting to take away their food maybe because of the New Years party etc.
Overall, time well spent with nice conversations over some really good food!
The bill came to Rs.700 for 2 persons, very VFM.
I would rather come here than eat an industrial pizza at the 2 big brothers of the Pizza industry.
Kudos guys! Love the...
