PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Mumbai

One more visit to my one of the most favorite restaurants in the town...... The Pizza Express......one of the few chains who have kept the authentic pizza alive. It's always lovely to visit their outlets, the ambience is so nice and warm, moreover the waiters and waitress's treat you so well with a nice welcoming smile, that it hardly takes time to actually settle in, this is one key thing I have noticed, it is that they have been really consistent with their service and the way their staff treats it's customers...

Coming to the food.... This time I went for the Meal for 2, a four course meal. The dishes that I ordered are as follows:- 1.Sunrise iced tea and berry fresca- The mocktails were really amazing, refreshing and satisfying.. seems like our lady waitress had put in loads of love and affection in it..... It was just the way we wanted.... Doppio Dough balls.- this was a mandatory order, I just love the simplicity of this dish, and the rich flavours of the sauces provided, the textures are really appealing to the eye and the stomach equally. They taste amazing, I surely recommend it to every one who heads to Pizza Express. Penne con Peppedew- Well, surprisingly this time the pasta didn't fair really well. They had never disappointed me in this department, but today it felt really average. It was a lil. Less creamy and just lacked the 'wow factor'. It looked like it Wasn't your day my friend. Romana polo forza- a really splendid recommendation by our server, it actually comes under the non veg category, but she made it specially veg for us, by replacing chicken with olives. (Told you they are really customer friendly) The taste was mesmerising, it was a thin crust pizza with nice and crisp ends..... Cooked evenly with veggies so fresh and juicy.....my fellow friend had just a minor complaint that the cheese was a lil less and the toppings too..... But, as per me more topping and cheese tend to over power the flavours of your pizza, so the components should always be limited and balanced..... So as per me it was just right!

Cheesecake with ice cream- the desserts are a must try out here! Never leave your table without having your desserts.... The cheesecake normally is the centre of attraction out here, but today it was a bit too hard! Seemed like it just got a lil. Over-refrigerated ;p But, the dessert was balanced by it's side kicks... That is the chocolate ice cream and the raspberry sauce which just kicked in with it's flavours to save the day...!!

All in all, it was a really wonderful day again at Pizza Express, trust me customer satisfaction is guaranteed out here . I walk out again as a happy customer. Definitely, compliments to the chef, All thanks to the cordial and courteous staff. I take away .5 from the rating, coz I will be back for my perfect pasta and...

Pizza Express is, in my opinion, the most underrated and easily the best restaurant in all of Powai. It does tend to get busy at times, but that just reflects how good it truly is. The food, the atmosphere and above all, the service make it stand out every single time.

The staff deserve special mention. Pablo is always warm, welcoming and incredibly attentive. His attention to detail never goes unnoticed. He makes sure we feel at home the moment we step in. Arun is equally wonderful. He’s quick to notice when a table needs clearing or when we might want to order something more. Together, they really elevate the experience and make every visit memorable.

The food is consistently excellent. The Calabrese Pizza is our all-time favourite. It is full of flavour, deeply satisfying and honestly one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The Arabbiata pasta is phenomenal too. A little spicy, just the way we like it. And the coffee-flavoured drinks are also absolutely worth trying.

What makes Pizza Express even more special is how reliable it is. Whether we book a table through Zomato or walk in directly, we are always seated quickly and treated with care. This is a huge contrast to our recent experience at Bayroute in Powai. We had a confirmed reservation there, but were still asked to wait outside for 30 minutes with no explanation or apology. Eventually, we walked out and headed straight to Pizza Express. The difference in hospitality was night and day. At Pizza Express, we were seated promptly and greeted with kindness, like we always are.

It is the kind of place that you grow attached to. A restaurant that feels like a part of your own story. And even if someone else has a rare off experience, we’d honestly say, give it another chance. Under the care of Pablo, Arun and the rest of the team, you are bound to have a lovely time.

I visited Pizza Express in Powai on the evening of September 19, 2024, around 8:40 PM. Upon arrival, the lady at the entrance informed us that they were short-staffed and that some sections were closed. We were asked to wait and were seated at a table temporarily, being told it would take 10-15 minutes to get a proper table. In the meantime, we were encouraged to place our order.

After browsing the menu, we placed our order. During this time, we noticed that a few other customers who arrived after us went directly to available tables. After about half an hour, the same lady brought our order and served it at the same table where we had been told to wait. When we inquired why we hadn't been assigned a proper table while others were seated promptly, she responded that she hadn’t assigned the other tables; those customers had seated themselves. She also mentioned that the table we were waiting at was the one we were going to be served at, despite initially telling us to wait due to a shortage of tables.

Additionally, we noticed an empty section available, but she claimed it had been given to other customers. At this point, we decided to leave without having our food, as this kind of service and hospitality is not what one would expect from a brand like Pizza Express. The manager did come over and offered to assign us a proper table, but this would have required more waiting. After such a long wait and the poor service we experienced, we decided it was best to leave. Dint tried the food so...
