Recently renovated. 💁SERVICE = ⭐⭐⭐1/2 Mr John was quite kind in explaining the history behind the names and dishes and his wait staff were quite efficient. No complaints ➡️OFFERS : ☕ From 4pm to 6 pm they have unlimited snacks and tea at only Rs 125. A limited time offering . Make the most of it while it's there😊 #hightea ➡️PRICING ⭐⭐⭐🌟 Rs 250 - 350 per person depending on what you eat. ➡️QUANTITY ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent servings like any South Indian restaurant ➡️WHAT I DRANK🍷🍸🥂🥛 🥭AAM PANNA 🙅Avoidable🙅 It is a syrup drink what more can I say 🍼SOL KADHI (Interesting) MIlk based drink with spices in it really refreshing. One normally recommends to have this drink after a heavy meal ↪️WHAT I ATE 🍜 1️⃣ PANIYARAM ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2 ✔️MUST HAVE✔️ This was simply outstanding. The Paniyaram is made of dal, rice, coconut and some chillis Tip : Have the Paniyaram with the orange tomato chutney. 2️⃣ GOLE BHAJE⭐⭐⭐1/2 A very traditional dish. More like fried bhajiyas made of rice, coconut and a pinch of sugar. 3️⃣ MANGALORE BUNS ⭐⭐⭐🌟 ✔️MUST HAVE✔️ Looks like a puri💭 looks like a kachori 💭 no it's a breakfast bun😛. Tasted on the similar lines of pancake with a slight amount of bannana in the bread batter. Light soft and perfect. #desipancake Tip : Don't have it with the coconut chutney spoils the taste 4️⃣ Mixed Uruval ⭐🌟 🙅Avoidable🙅 Babycorn, mushrooms and a few bell peppers wok tossed In the famous mulgapodi powder was not upto the mark. The dish lacked taste and was very powdery. 5️⃣ NEER DOSA⭐⭐⭐🌟🌟 ✔️MUST HAVE✔️ A True delight. Soft, fluffy with the right texture. It literally melts in your mouth . Tip : Have it with some nice gravy dish. 6️⃣ MUSHROOM GHEE ROAST⭐⭐⭐🌟 ✔️MUST HAVE✔️ This dish is actually a starter but I had it with the neer dosa. The mushroom ghee roast was top notch with the mushrooms being soft and full of flavour from the semi dry tomato coconut sauce. 7️⃣ PANEER GHASSI ⭐⭐⭐1/2 A Coconut gravy based paneer dish. Simple dish with fresh paneer. Good dish to have with the neer dosa 8️⃣ 🌾TEMPLE PULIYODHARAI 🌟🌟🌟🌟 ✔️MUST HAVE ✔️ A sweet and sour tamarind rice with peanuts, cashewnuts and coconut shavings . A true delight 9️⃣ MOONG DAL PAYASAM 🌟 🙅Avoidable🙅 Was very watery and the texture was also grainy and a total disappointment on the palate 🔟 ROASTED ALMOND 🍦 This ice cream tasted really different then its peers. It was light fresh and not too sweet. Worth trying to see if I was accurate in my judgement 😛 WILL I VISIT AGAIN : ✔️ ➡️CANNY'S RECOMMENDATION : If you are in this area and are looking for a quick cheap and tasty meal then this is the place to be. For special recommendations ask for Mr John or Mr Selvam to help you out.

I hope everyone is doing well. I recently visited Sri Krishna Restaurant located at Grant Road and would like to share my experience with you all. Sri Krishna has a relaxed ambience, wonderful furnished interiors with bright lights & a great atmosphere with sweet music in the background which gives you a typical down South feeling. I just felt like I was in South India after seeing their menu which is full of varieties and famous South Indian dishes. Their staff is extremely good and their explaination towards each dish was mind blowing. They explained very well about every dish which is served there which was very helpful for me to understand and order accordingly. Lets begin with the delicious food which I had: •Mangalore Buns: 5/5 These were fluffy thick buns made with wheat flour, banana, jeera & sugar. It was sweet and fried to perfection. Tasted amazingly well with Nariyal chutney. •Gole Bhaje: 5/5 Gole Bhaje are bhajiya’s made with wheat flour, green chillies and curry leaves. Aroma of the curry leaves to the deep fried bhajiya’s were such a delight to my taste buds. •Paneer Uruval: 5/5 Paneer coated with gram flour fried in home made pure cow’s ghee which is imported from Kerala. Topped with spicy masala. A delicious and filling appetizer I must say. •Paniyaram: 5/5 Paniyarams are crunchy balls made with Urad Dal and Rice. These were cooked in pure ghee. Its was crispy from the outside and soft from inside. •Paneer Ghassi & Neer Dosa: 5/5 Paneer Ghassi is a paneer gravy which was sweet and had lots of minced veggies in it. The best part about this dish was it was not too oily and was cooked to perfection. Neer Dosa is made with the liquid batter. It was so fluffy and thin. I was amazed after I had Neer Dosa with Paneer Ghassi. Never had such delicious South Indian food in Mumbai. •Veg Malabar Biryani: 5/5 Cooked in pure ghee with the best Basmati Rice loaded with coconut milk, veggies, cashew nuts and topped with fried onions. Taste of the biryani was extremely good and quantity wise maximum three people can have it. •Idiyappam & Ishtew: 5/5 Idiyappam is a thin noodles made with rice flour. It was served with Veg Ishtew which is a vegetable gravy made green peas, drum stick and other vegetables. It was warm, sweet and tasty. •Real hand churned ice creams: 5/5 Their very own hand made ice creams which had real fruitful flavors. I had Paan Ice Cream which had minced paan, gulkhand, other paan ingredients and flavors to it. I would highly recommend people visiting here to try Paan Ice Cream. Other 3 flavors which I had are Roasted Almond Ice Cream which had lots of crunchy roasted almond to the Vanilla Ice Cream. It was thick, creamy and delicious. Rose Almond Ice Cream which had real rose pellets to it and the last one was Anjeer flavored Ice Cream which had real Anjeer to the cream. This place is a pure heaven for South Indian Food in Mumbai with too many varieties to try and serving real South Indian Zaika to it. I’d recommend people visiting here to try Mangalore Buns, Paneer Ghassi, Idiyappam Ishtew, Gole Bhaje, Paneer Uruval, Paniyaram, Veg Malabar Biryani and their own hand made ice creams which are full of real fruits and flavors.

If you are looking for the authentic south Indian food restaurants, this is really a good option for you!!! A pocket friendly and amazing flavored cuisine with really amazing restaurant staff. The sri krishna is located near Grant road railway station, Mumbai. The small restaurant recently got a new look. And has created very cosy atmosphere for food lovers. The restaurant can be easily located on Google maps, and its 5 min Walking from grant road railway station. The place has really nice sitting arrangements, around 50-60 people can accommodate easily. The menu has really a wide range of cuisine, along with south Indian food, they also serve Chinese and north Indian cuisine. Their most of the dishes are not really spicy so you will get proper flavors of the dishes. Being south Indian restaurant, we wated to try their amazingly named dishes. & we tried, Gole bhaje: A beautiful textured and Crispy balls were really amazing. The little sweet cruncy balls was soft from inside. And goin well with the coconut chutney. Crispy masala dal vada: One of my personal favorites, the crisp and crunchy traditional wada made from the chana daal and really amazing in taste. Paneer tikka: A traditional North Indian cuisine. The soft paneer was prepared in rich red gravy in tandoor style. The flavors was amazing. A must try dish here. Crispy cheese corn balls: they got really nice Chinese starters as well. The corn balls were really crunchy and cheesy. The mint chutney was going well with the balls. Paneer chilli: The best starter from the Chinese menu. The little spicy and soft paneer was really amazing. The coating of paneer was really thin and the assorted veggies were good and crunchy. The sauce was little sweet and tangy, balancing the flavors of dish. Avial malbari paratha: In main course we had the south Indians signature dish, AVIAL. The veggies prepared in coconut gravy. The curd in the gravy was really enhancing the taste. And was going well with the malbari paratha (layered paratha). Neer dosa paneer ghassi: The soft paneer was presented in a red gravy with all southindian spices. The soft paneer was just fabulous along with neer dosa( the softest and thinnest dosa). The portion size was really sufficient. Veg Biryani: The Punjabi style biryani had a long rice, also the dry fruits and all Indian spices was really amazing. Along with the biryani, the raita and red gravy was just amazing. A must try biryani. Along with the meal we had fresh juices and soda. Do check with the staff for their amazing fresh juice available. We tried mosabi and watermelon juice. The restaurant has their own created range of ice creams along with the different amazing indian desserts. The flavors of the ice-creams were really amazing, was original. And the taste was really good. Also we tried their dry fruit Falooda, was really satisfied with the quantity and quality of the falooda. A must try their various falooda. Overall had a great time with friends. Big thanks to the Management for amazing hospitality and mouthwatering food.

↪️WHAT I ATE 🍜

1️⃣ PANIYARAM ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

✔️MUST HAVE✔️

This was simply outstanding.

The Paniyaram is made of dal, rice, coconut and some chillis

Tip : Have the Paniyaram with the orange tomato chutney.

2️⃣ GOLE BHAJE⭐⭐⭐1/2

A very traditional dish. More like fried bhajiyas made of rice, coconut and a pinch of sugar.

3️⃣ MANGALORE BUNS ⭐⭐⭐🌟

✔️MUST HAVE✔️

Looks like a puri💭 looks like a kachori 💭 no it's a breakfast bun😛. Tasted on the similar lines of pancake with a slight amount of bannana in the bread batter. Light soft and perfect.

#desipancake

Tip : Don't have it with the coconut chutney spoils the taste

4️⃣ Mixed Uruval ⭐🌟

🙅Avoidable🙅

Babycorn, mushrooms and a few bell peppers wok tossed In the famous mulgapodi powder was not upto the mark. The dish lacked taste and was very powdery.

5️⃣ NEER DOSA⭐⭐⭐🌟🌟

✔️MUST HAVE✔️

A True delight. Soft, fluffy with the right texture. It literally melts in your mouth .

Tip : Have it with some nice gravy dish.

6️⃣ MUSHROOM GHEE ROAST⭐⭐⭐🌟

✔️MUST HAVE✔️

This dish is actually a starter but I had it with the neer dosa. The mushroom ghee roast was top notch with the mushrooms being soft and full of flavour from the semi dry tomato coconut sauce.

7️⃣ PANEER GHASSI ⭐⭐⭐1/2

A Coconut gravy based paneer dish. Simple dish with fresh paneer. Good dish to have with the neer dosa

8️⃣ 🌾TEMPLE PULIYODHARAI 🌟🌟🌟🌟

✔️MUST HAVE ✔️

A sweet and sour tamarind rice with peanuts, cashewnuts and coconut shavings . A true delight

9️⃣ MOONG DAL PAYASAM 🌟

🙅Avoidable🙅

Was very watery and the texture was also grainy and a total disappointment on the palate

🔟 ROASTED ALMOND 🍦

This ice cream tasted really different then its peers. It was light fresh and not too sweet. Worth trying to see if I was accurate in my judgement 😛

WILL I VISIT AGAIN : ✔️

A 43-year-old family-run restaurant, Sri Krishna is a gem of a place and a paradise for South Indian food. Located a few minutes away from the station at Nana Chowk, this restaurant has revamped its interiors and menu to include authentic and creative South Indian delicacies. The interiors of this restaurant has hints of a traditional South Indian home – Cane chairs, intricately designed wooden panels and doors etc. The staff members were extremely courteous, polite, helpful and helped us decide on some really delicious South Indian delicacies.

Here’s how our meal went:

  1. Ananas Rasam – Chilled rassam with hints of pineapple in every sip. This drink is not sweet nor spicy, but has a nice tartness from the pineapple and rassam. It was beautifully balanced! Loved it! Highly recommended.

  2. Sol Kadhi – We love sol kadhi, and we absolutely had to try it out at this place. Sol Kadhi is a drink made from a fusion of coconut milk and kokum. One sip, and we were in love with this drink! Love the fact that the coconut milk was subtle and did not overpower this drink. Would be a crime to miss! Highly recommended.

  3. Malgapodi Tossed Idli – Steamed idlis tossed in ghee with podi (South Indian gunpowder), golden cashew nuts and crisp curry leaves. Hands down, this was our ALL-TIME-FAVOURITE! The idlis were soft and just melted in the mouth, and the podi was so well prepared. The addition of golden cashew nuts and curry leaves really added another dimension to this appetizer. LOVED it. A MUST, MUST TRY! Highly recommended.

  4. Paneer Ghassi – A Manglorean gravy of paneer simmered with spices and coconut milk. The addition of coconut milk balanced out the spiciness from the chillis and other spices. The curry had a bold, complex flavour and the paneer just melted in the mouth. We paired this with a Neer Dosa which is a paper-thin rice dosa which was super soft. A great combination for sure!

  5. Veg Ishtew with Idiyappam – A delicate and aromatic stew with mixed vegetables. The curry was smooth, silky and had that lovely subtleness of coconut milk. The mixed veggies gave the curry a nice contrast in texture. We enjoyed this DELICIOUS curry with Idiyappam which is a rice noodle dish. The rice noodles were soft, had a unique flavour and just melted in the mouth. We couldn’t stop ourselves from going back for more! It was authentic and yum! Highly recommended.

  6. Veg Malabar Biryani – A biryani made with coconut milk, cashews, raisins, paneer and wholesome veggies tossed in a green masala. The biryani had a nice thick green masala. Overall, it tasted good.

  7. Rose Almond, Malai and Paan Ice Cream – Hand-churned, silky smooth, creamy and rice ice creams that we tried in rose almond, malai and paan flavours. The rose almond has pieces of dried rose petals and a generous amount of almond slivers in it. LOVED it. WOW! The malai was subtle, and we would have preferred if there were pieces of malai in it. And finally, the paan ice cream was refreshing and DELICIOUS! The rose almond and the paan ice creams are A MUST HAVE here! Highly recommended.

  8. Chikmanglur Filter Coffee – There’s nothing like ending a meal with a traditional Filter coffee. The coffee was really strong, aromatic and surely one of the BEST we’ve tried so far! Highly recommended.

On the whole, we had an amazing dining experience here and we were well taken care of by the staff members. The menu is vast and diverse and we were literally spoilt for choice as it includes a number of great South-Indian delicacies. A visit to this famous restaurant at Grant Road is an...

Lets begin with the delicious food which I had:

•Mangalore Buns: 5/5 These were fluffy thick buns made with wheat flour, banana, jeera & sugar.

I’d recommend people visiting here to try Mangalore Buns, Paneer Ghassi, Idiyappam Ishtew, Gole Bhaje, Paneer Uruval, Paniyaram, Veg Malabar Biryani and their own hand made ice creams which are full of real fruits...
