Sudama - All Veg, a well known name in and around that vicinity. In fact Many People From SOBO opt for this restaurant ( Semi Fine Dine , Pure Veg , No Alcohol ) decent in pricing - Hygiene level good , nice portion , Vast yet conceived menu. Overall Caters to the Gujarati and the Marwari community. Been there last night - packed with Locals Post 8 pm.
To Start with had 2 Mocktail - Yuzu Treat (Yuzu Puree/Apple juice and black salt) fresh and tasted good. Pink lemonade (nice refreshing Drink) fizzy lemonade refreshing pomegranate and cranberry balanced the drink.
Starters and mains - This Place Serves Pizzas/South Indian/Mumbai All time favourites/Chaat/Soups/Indian/Gujarati/Marwari and some Chinese. Though the menu looks vast - it's conceived if one sees the Dishes in each section.
Soup - Oriental (Chinese) Chefs signature and hot seller. It's all about tangy spicy taste. Tomato Soup with red chilli paste and vegetables. A bit of of corn flour to get the thickness. Overall nice.
Pav Bhaji - with bread (buttery) onions (diced) and Lemon. Better than what I have had. Nice balanced spices - Not overpowering. Loaded with butter (Bhaji and Bread) taste wise - a great dish for the Locals.
Paan Chaat - We have heard of Spinach Chaat. Here the Chef has experimented using Kolkata Paan. Besan and fried it. Crispy. Topped with Sev/Tomato/Onion - tanginess from the Tamarind chutney. Would have loved had they been some curd. Overall different yet good.
Dakshin Paneer Tikka - Another signature dish of Sudama. Tandoored Paneer (soft) marinated using Dakshin taste (a mix of Tamil Nadu and Kerala) had that tangy touch to it with mustard. Liked the texture at the same time the taste. Balance was good. Do try this. Priced at INR 275/+ (for 2)
Rawa Mysore - This came as a surprise. A bit crunchy in some parts and soft in some (is this how it's supposed to be?) Filling of Mysore paste/Cashews, overall a nice south Indian dish served with Sambhar and chutney. Texture was just amazing. Try it. Nice portion.
Hara Bhara kebab - Found it a bit dry. Bread Crumbs pan seared. A bit crunchy. Could have been softer from the outside (but this is sudama's Preparation) Stuffed with spinach / herbs / cheese. Ok to good - Nothing wow about the dish.
Birbal Paneer - had a chance to have this dish at flute a year back. Same taste. Richness at its Best. Their signature dish and perfect for the Locals. Nice portion. Tomato/Cream/Cashew/Onion based thick rich gravy with cubes of Malai Paneer (overall the dish was amazing) served with 3 types of bread. Garnish of cheese at the top. Trust me this is a heavy dish. Meal by itself (INR 310/+) do try if you like Paneer. Not spicy, subtle in taste.
Dal and rice - always a good combination.
Desserts - Strawberry with cream and ice cream (takes you to Mahableshwar) amazing. Presented well. Tasted good. Perfect dessert. Rich Creamy at the same time yummy. Gulab Jamun - They make in house - fresh, served hot stuffed with pistachio. Aromatic, full of Mawa rich again.
Overall - Sudama is a safe bet if one wants to try Vegetarain. VFM compared to the price and portion. Spices are not over powering. These guys have studied the market hence this place has local and loyal customers. Go for...
Read moreSudama is one of the well known Pure Vegetarian restaurant in & around Grant Road. It has been around for almost 15 years & more and a testimony to its popularity is the long queue & waiting which one encounters here on a weekend.
We were welcomed warmly by the waiting staff and attended to quite well. The service standards are quite good and most of the times they were very prompt as well..
Detailed below is the dishes I have had here:
BROCCOLI SOUP: Broccoli Soup is a mostly a bland preparation, usually infused with almonds. But here Chef Santosh Patil used Broccoli as a base and prepared a wonderful oriental soup which also had carrots, French beans, broccoli & finely chopped onions. The sourness was derived from vinegar. The soup was mild pungent in flavour. RECOMMENDED
MASALA KHAKRA EXOTIC VEGGIES ORIENTAL STYLE
DAKSHINI PANEER: A lovely preparation made using Southern spices. The spices like dry coconut powder, dry chillies, dry mango powder and some black pepper were roasted till they were almost burnt. It was then applied on soft & big chunks of Paneer and grilled on a skewer. RECOMMENDED
RAJASTHANI MIX VEG: This vegetable is one of the best selling dishes of this restaurant and has been developed keeping in mind the preferences of the local customers. A dry vegetable preparation made some spices which are used in Rajasthani cuisine and some local spices.
PANEER MOILEE: The base was made on onion paste and coconut milk. The onion lent its sweetness and pungency to the base. The vegetable added to it were green peas, French beans and Paneer cubes. The quantity of coconut milk was measured one so as to keep the gravy thick. The flavour was just amazing and one has to taste it to believe it. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED
PALAK RICE BERRY BLAST: This “Berry” “Berry” good mocktail made from a combination of all known berries like strawberry, raspberry, blueberry made me “Berry” “Berry” happy. A tinge of rock / black salt was added to the slush to give the slightly sour slush of berries a tingling flavour. RECOMMENDED PINK LEMONADE KULFI FALOODA RABDI
Sudama has stood the test of time and has evolved as per the needs of the customers. Some of their offerings are very nice and some need some tinkering but overall it was wonderful experience dining here. They serving quantity is good enough for 3 persons with a normal eating capacity.

Read moreThis is a Pure Veg Restaurant which is going towards Grant Road railway station and I can bet this is the best restaurant in the vicinity. They have North Indian, Chinese, South Indian and Gujarati food available.
This was an impromptu visit as my friend and got a new job near grant road station and just walking down and ask her to throw me a treat and we decided to go to this place “Sudama”
The ambience is perfect, the restaurant is clean and hygienic and staff polite and friendly.
The presentation of the food is very nice and also the taste of the food is quite good.
We ordered Chole Bhature which as was mildly spiced but tasty. Paneer Tikkas were up to the mark. This was enough to fill us for 2 hence we were unable to explore more.
In spite of being a Pure Veg Restaurant I wish to come back to this place again to explore more.
