Status Fort – A Vegetarian Delight Near CSMT, Mumbai

If you’re near Fort, Mumbai, and craving a wholesome vegetarian meal with family or friends, Status Fort is a must-visit place. Located close to CST (CSMT), this restaurant has long held its reputation as a reliable, clean, and comforting place to enjoy Indian food—with a touch of elegance.

Classic Vibes – Now Getting a Fresh Look

Status Fort is currently undergoing renovation, which speaks volumes about their dedication to upgrading the space while maintaining their legacy. Even amid the work, the atmosphere remains pleasant, and the service continues to be as attentive and warm as ever.

Great Staff, Even Better Food

The staff here is genuinely courteous—quick to recommend dishes, adjust spice levels, and make you feel right at home. And when it comes to food, they truly deliver on flavor.

We started off with the Green Kebab—a soft, flavorful starter that’s just the right kind of spicy and served piping hot. It set the tone for what was to come.

Next came the Cheese Garlic Naan paired with Mutter Paneer—a creamy, mildly sweet sabji with perfectly cooked paneer. The naan was rich, crispy on the edges, and wonderfully garlicky.

And then came the real test: the Veg Thali.

It was generous, to say the least—an unlimited thali that just kept on giving! From dal and sabjis to sweets, rice, chapatis, and more, this thali could easily feed two hungry people. We ended up completely full and satisfied—maybe a little too full!

A Place for All Occasions

Whether you're out with family for a Sunday lunch or catching up with friends over dinner, Status Fort fits the bill. It has that comforting vibe of an old favorite, yet it continues to stay relevant and fresh.

⭐ Verdict:

Cuisine: Pure Vegetarian

Must-Try: Green Kebab, Cheese Garlic Naan, Mutter Paneer, Unlimited Veg Thali

Ambience: Family-friendly, clean, and currently getting a makeover

Service: Polite and efficient

Location: Near CSMT, Fort, Nariman point, Mumbai

If you’re in the area, Status Fort is worth your time (and your appetite). Come hungry—you’ll leave...

Visited during lunch time. Had Gujarati thali. Very ordinary food. This restaurant serves a lot of items viz idli, vada, pav bhaji etc and gujarati thali happens to be one of the many things served. Therefore, to be fair to them, the thali served here cannot be compared with rajdhani, thackers, chetana, thaker bhojanalay Or even golden star thali. However, if you cannot be authentic atleast make sure whatever you serve is well cooked and fresh. Bhindi was raw, moong dal kachori was stale and it looked like they had sourced it from nearby farsan shop. Kadhi did not have uniform taste. Each spoon of kadhi tasted different. Palak paneer had a weird taste and smell. The only good item in the thali was khichdi with ghee. Kadhi khichdi tasted great and helped to end the meal on a happy note. However, gujarati thali contains food which is fit for kings & emperors. No one orders this thali with the objective of enjoying kadhi khichdi. Disappointed. Waste of time and money. Staff asked for tip while making payment. The other positive thing about this place is that it is somewhat better that samrat which is located few kms away. The restaurant was packed during lunch time which means hopefully their ala carte must be exceptional. It is surprising that Nariman Point despite being a huge, crowded and affluent area does not have many places where people can sit down and have a meal. There is no Gaylords, Copper Chimney, Kailash Parbat and similar iconic So Bo...

Recently, our office group of 12 friends decided to have a team lunch at Status Restaurant in Nariman Point, and the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Located in a prime business area, the restaurant offers a comfortable, spacious, and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for group gatherings.

We started with a round of soups and paneer tikka, which were served hot and full of flavor — the paneer was soft, well-marinated, and grilled to perfection. The real highlight for most of us was the Gujarati Thali — a delicious spread of traditional items including kachori, dal, kadhi, vegetables, rotis, puris, rice, and sweet dishes. The aam ras was pure bliss — thick, chilled, and just the right sweetness, instantly taking us to mango season vibes.

We also ordered a variety of kebabs, which were juicy and well-spiced, and ended the meal with a round of coffee and chocolate ice cream. The service was quick despite our large group, and the staff was courteous and attentive throughout.

What really stood out was the authenticity of flavors, the variety on the menu, and the ability of the restaurant to cater to both traditional and North Indian palates with equal finesse. The ambience was calm despite being busy, and it was easy to converse and relax.

Overall, it was a memorable lunch experience, and I’d highly recommend Status Restaurant for anyone looking for a well-balanced vegetarian meal in South Mumbai — especially in a...

So, we travelled all the way from Malad to Sobo to have dinner at Status, the very famous eating joint at the Southern end of the city. 17 hungry souls including adults and kids reached this very crowded place for a scrumptious and much wanted meal. We started off with 4 different varieties of starters. Go pay attention to the assorted chutneys and sliced onions and 'Chundo' kept on the table. Try the Chundo, you'll love it. 1. Mini Pav Bhaji: Bite sized pav stuff with bhaji were yummy in the tummy. 2. Papad Lifafa: The server convinced us to go for this instead of Masala Papad. It's good, but I'll stick to the latter. 3. Paneer Kurkure: Paneer coated with a crunchy batter. Good stuff. 4. Mini Samosa: Bite sized samosa stuffed with masala and cashews. Tasty. I think we should have stopped at this. But we decided to order main course. And it led to Status losing 2 stars on this review. The sabzis were very very average and so were the assorted breads/ rotis. I've had better mains at half the price from a local eatery in my area. We ordered 2 Cokes but they only serve cans which were not at all chilled. There's a table at the end with mukhwas on it. Please don't risk it. You don't know where all those hands have been. It is worth a visit and if they improve their mains, they get the additional ⭐. We went on a weekday and it was packed. Kindly go with enough time. I've heard it gets mad rush on weekends.
