Decided to come here because of the 4.9, it must be good right? I would say the mocktails were good, the sea bass(from robatayaki) was good, but everything else was average. We asked the waiter what they’re known for, and they said sushi and robatayaki. The sushi was okay, but expected better for that price point. I’ve had sushi all over the world and this was just average. We ordered the coconut crab salad, it was terrible and not what we expected. We barely touched it and the waiter did not even care to ask about it. Truly astonishing for a high end restaurant at a high end hotel to provide that level of service. This place is definitely overhyped, the 4.9 rating is underwhelming. The expensive price is not worth the taste at all. For that same price elsewhere, I would have gotten a great experience, and trust me when I say that because I’ve been to a lot of high end restaurants. Maybe the Indian food would have been better, but don’t recommend sushi if that’s not what you’re best at. I would say the food did come out fast though, so that’s a plus I guess. UPDATE: the next morning my partner vomited 4 times, and got food poisoning. Trident hotel has done nothing about it too.

We enjoyed a quiet dinner at this wonderful restaurant on a day which happened to be our engagement anniversary. The quality of food, ambience & decors along with the hospitable staff is simply way beyond words. They will take every care to ensure you have a great culinary experience. The enchiladas, paneer chilly & Mexican tarts were superb. While tipping the staff I just happened to mention that we had a wonderful 'we time' on this ocassion. Mr. Vishwajit took great care of us & played the perfect host with other staff, of course ! To this they actually took our celebration to whole new level by offering us a special dessert tiramisu cake on the house !!! Thank you Fenix, thank you Oberoi for making our visit special 🙏👍🌹

29 yrs ago (Jan 1995) I proposed my wife at The Oberoi while I visited 🇮🇳 returning 1st time after coming to NY as student in 1991. I took her to the restaurant where it all started and requested a corner table so we could have our own moment. Chef Richard gave us a big surprise after our lunch. He was so pleased that he got this opportunity to prepare meal for us and to know about our great little story. Hospitality at Oberoi is at different level and I tell you specially after traveling extensively around the 🌎 to 75+ countries. 😀 🍷 #oberoibombay

My most recent dining encounter at Mumbai's Fenix Restaurant was simply fantastic. I was taken aback by the restaurant's classy atmosphere, professional service, and mouthwatering menu the moment I walked in. At Fenix, the service was first-rate. The service was excellent, and the personnel went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed every element of our dining experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were able to easily accommodate dietary restrictions while also making recommendations. Visiting Mumbai from CA after a long time and looking forward to eating at Ziya Oberoi. Sadly it's still undergoing renovation and hotel invited us to eat at Fenix, which was serving some Ziya dishes.

This was our experience on Oct 21.

From the Ziya page, we ordered the Nawab Chicken starter, which turned out to be quite bland but inoffensive.

Mains were Tadka Dahi Baigan and Ghee Roast Lamb. I suppose if you like your dish drowning and overpowered by dahi, then you'll like the baigan. I must say it was disappointing for us so we ate around the sauce. The lamb was rich and flavorful so 1 out of 3 could be called success!

The reason for the low score on service was entirely due to this. I always have a blended whisky on ice with Indian food. It complements the flavors and doesn't bloat you like beer does. No need to waste a single malt if you're going to dump ice into it. So imagine my surprise when the bill arrived and I was charged for a Glenlivet 12 instead of Chivas 12, which is what I asked for. This was INR 300 more expensive per shot and I had 2 doubles. When I asked if they had made a mistake, I was told that they accidentally served me the Glenlivet and the bill would remain unchanged. I'm only thankful they didnt "accidentally" serve and charge me for Johnny W Blue!!

At the end of the day, it's only INR 1200 ($14) more but the least I would expected is for Fenix to just charge me for what I ordered rather than what they served! Total bill for 2 was nearly INR 16 000 and we came away thinking maybe fine Indian dining in India is not worth it. Best to eat where the locals do.

My advice, if you want top and Indian cuisine, then...
