๐ Good Food, Poor Ambience ๐
We recently visited this restaurant in Oshiwara, for Lunch. We had heard about this brand name since a long time, so decided to give it a try!
When we asked for the menu, they gave us a laminated piece of paper, which was dirty and wasn't in the best of conditions. Definitely NOT a good first impression.
We ordered their 'Yoko Special Veg Sizzler'.
While we waited, we realised that they have kept 2 papers and pencils on the table, which had some Word games. ๐๐ป Good idea, to keep the customers engaged, so that they don't get restless while waiting for their food to arrive. Have seen this in Cream Centre's Restaurants as well!
So, while we got busy trying those word games, we realised that there was a lot of smoke (which comes out of sizzlers usually) in the entire place. At times, it looks and feels uncomfortable. We do realise that this place is famous for sizzlers, and almost every table will have a sizzler being ordered and eaten, but the management can tackle this situation by installing sufficient number of exhaust systems which throw out this smoke from the room. This will enhance the experience of customers.
One more thing which we noticed was, that there was a constant foul smell inside the restaurant. It wasn't coming from anyone's food dish, for sure. But, it was very irritating to say the least. The management should install sufficient number of air fresheners in the premises.
Also, there was no music or any sort of entertainment. All you can hear is cluttering sound of plates and spoons and sounds of people talking. This can be made so much better, by just playing some background music. Because of these reasons, we will give this restaurant a low rating for the ambience, as we feel there is a huge scope for them to improve in this area.
๐ฒ Now coming to the main aspect: FOOD!!
Finally, the order arrived on our table.
Firstly, the quantity looked sufficient for 2 people. They also incorporated our cooking requests and made the food accordingly.
The taste and quality were good too!
Coming to pricing, we paid โน970/- for the Yoko Special Veg Sizzler, which comes to about โน485/- per person, which is quite ok (not too expensive, not too cheap either).
The staff is quite polite and friendly. While you're having your food, they do make it a point to come and ask you whether the food is good or not.
Service Charges are NOT compulsory, they are 'optional', you can pay whatever amount you like that too ONLY IF you would...
ย ย ย Read moreVisited this place twice. First time around, the service was so horrible, we had to call the waiter 5 times before they even got a drink order from us, and this after waiting 20 mins at the table! The floor was so horribly dirty that i literally lost my appetite. Despite all this, the sizzler was good. But if y'all think that patrons are going to go through hell to eat your food, think again. You have so many competitors that i would never even think twice now before saying no to your place.
My best visit was today, the second time. Which decent restaurant in the entire world doesn't take reservations? Even though i called up before showing up there, no one had the courtesy to tell us that there is an hour long wait. On top of that regulations require you guys to shut down at 4pm. And this, despite being located right next to Oshiwara Police station! But families were standing in line waiting in the heat even till 3.45pm, with not a single staff having the courtesy to tell them to go leave as they wouldn't get a chance to eat. You lost business from 4 families today. Ohh and thank you for ruining my Saturday!
PS: If you're wondering where we ended up spending our worthwhile money and time, it was at Alibaba cafรฉ in Jogeshwari. The food was divine! Their seekh kebabs and lamb chops...
ย ย ย Read moreI have been frequenting Yoko's for more than a decade, initially it used to be the one at Fort and then numerous times at R-City and last Saturday on 23rd Oct. we went to this location and due to traffic I was late but it was nice of Yoko's to still hold the table for 5 of us. We settled at the table right next after you enter. Food was fine as always maybe just maybe the portion size has reduced. I like long dinners and as usual it went for 2 hours as it was almost a year since I had met my friends. But it seems that their is a change in policy of this location or Yoko's in general as we were informed that 3 people ate and left on the next table and we were still around. I was never asked to leave like this in my 30 years of dining out so it came as a surprise. I would request if this could be informed at the start that the table has a limited time like 30/45 mins considering ordering, the food being prepared, served and consumed. this way we could have decided to leave or dinein but eat fast and hangout somewhere else after that. Later we were not billed and informed that Fresh Lime Soda and I guess Iced Tea were on the house. A slightly weird evening but the food was fine and...
