Food is hygienic and very tasty with authentic Andhra taste. Must try the gun powder with ghee, papad and fresh Paan after meals.
A very noticeable thing to watch is management of crowd by one gentleman whose voice is very authoritative and he single handedly manage the crowd so efficiently that even management students can take a lesson from him. He is aware of all the tables, collect the tokens and then allocate seats at first come first serve basis. He also watches thali at each table and instructs the staff to fill the items they may be waiting. A big salute to him for working tirelessly and doing his job very efficiently. Other staff is also very helpful and efficient.
When you come out of canteen there are 2 shops set up which are run by cooperative societies and sells authentic Andhra items like coffee, spices, pickles, sambhar powder etc. milk products. Coffee is cheap and good, available as beans and powder.
Overall a very good experience and food. I wish other state bhavans can follow so that people can taste authentic food...
Read moreFirst things first the food was decent and average and the price was costly.(Don't be received by the menu photos which are mostly are old-5 years or 8 years. Search for newest menu pictures from others latest review)
Me and my friend went there to have dinner. The canteen has strict rules that 2 persons cannot buy 1 thali which costs around ₹200.
So, it is compulsory for each person to order something from menu. We ordered chicken curry, veg thali and Hyderabadi Biryani. Taste wise nothing was extraordinary about veg thali or chicken kasa. Hyderabadi Biryani was decent but costs ₹300 (which is exorbitant given it is a canteen, you get authentic Kerala style biryani at Kerala House for ₹150)
For veg thali unlimited rice or roti is available. Sweet is limited. For papad you have to pay ₹10 extra each time you want extra.
QUANTITY- of veg thali was decent but for chicken kasa was very less according to price of around ₹300 and Hyderabadi Biryani's quantity was decent.
SITTING SPACE AND AMBIENCE- sitting space is decent. Huge no. of chairs and tables. But it's just like a canteen not as restaurant. Ambience was noisy. If you want peaceful sitting ambience then forget about it. AC is available.
STAFF- mostly are cooperative and nice.
ONLINE PAYMENT is avaibale
Additionally- you can also buy Mitha PAAN from the counter which is ₹20 as far as I remember.
We spent around ₹700-₹800 for only 2 persons! There are far better places to get same quantity and taste of food for less price.
Final Verdict- it is very costly as per the services they provide. It's better to go to a good south Indian restaurant and spend same amount of money to get better quantity and taste.
Alternatively, you can visit Kerala House which is more affordable and taste is more authentic.(This is not a...
Read moreI heard a lot about Andhra Bhawan. So, I finally made a visit. And I must thank myself for visiting this place. A must visit place if you want to have a south India experience in Delhi. Firstly, you will get the environment of south India there with all the people and shops selling from Andhra Pradesh specialities in the shops build in open space. Be prepared to wait for your turn though, this place is crowded for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Food is delicious and it gets crowded during lunchtime. Affordable price and good quality. Not just Andhra people, people from all the states come there to have the food. Then this canteen of Sai caterers will fill your appetite with their delicious Thali. They feed you so much love and then you really have to tell them to stop. Had the unlimited veg thali which cost 140 bucks and it was value for money. The thali consisted of dal, aloo gravy, South Indian mix veg ( cooked in a very different style and it did taste amazing, curd, papad, rasam, sambhar, rice and dessert. Loved each and every item. The curries were tangy and sour. The dessert (halwa) tasted like a mashed gulab jamun. Left the place with a heavy stomach and a great taste on the tongue. It's a simple place where you will get an amazing taste of south Indian food and price are really good and cheap. Staff and services are also good and the service you food in very less time.
