I have always liked the food at Gonzo but yesterday for a birthday lunch, I was massively disappointed by the service. We had a 2pm lunch booking, we reached on time. Upon being seated, we had to wait and remind the server to give us water in the sweltering heat. I placed my order and asked for the drinks, I was told, not available. The bartender is not in. So no drinks, could have been communicated earlier. By drinks, I mean a refresher/mocktail to go along with the food. Once the bartender came in, no one informed knowing very well, we were keenly interested in ordering and had made a request earlier. One time, we called the server, and she showed us the finger to wait but never returned. In the end, it was a terrible dining experience. When we asked the food to be packed, it was being shoved into boxes right infront of us, on a small table infront of the bar, where papers etc were lying around. I was shocked at the dissonance, casualness of the place. I have been to smaller cafes/restaurants who have shown such massive respect in service. This is not a dining place, should be delivery only. Or they need massive work on their dining experience, even the basic bare minimum would do. I regret choosing Gonzo, especially for a...
Read moreI happened to come across this place while walking through the Basant Lok Market a few days ago. The place looked very interesting so I decided to have lunch here.
Entering the restaurant, I was transported to a very Asian style eatery, that you only get to see in Youtube vlogs or in movies like Rush Hour. The place has that kind of a vibe. The menu has some very interesting things on offer.
My meal consisted of the Fried Chicken Money Bags which was fried chicken dimsums (you can choose your portion of 4 or 8 pieces. Along with this I ordered the Chicken Padkrapow which was a minced chicken stir fry, served with jasmine rice and topped with a fried egg. This made for a perfect one bowl meal. To wash this down, I had the Poky Lemonade which turned out to be quite refreshing.
For a place that serves Asian street-style food, it is slightly pricy, but you do get your money's value.
I'm definitely looking forward to visiting this place again and try some other items...
Read moreWe had not heard of this place earlier but made a reservation through Zomato and walked it to try it out for a lunch session. The ambience is good and a little rustic but that’s the theme! The toilet is all out red in colour and lighting! They have a bar area but are waiting for an alcohol license. A separate smoking area exists. We ordered various items from the menu which has a good collection of dim sums, baos, rice bowls, noodles, tempura, sushi etc. The food is excellent and superb in taste. We had jasmine rice with chilli garlic sauce, Thai red curry, udon noodles and a 3-piece round sushi item. They were all awesome! Great food, good D’Maitre and a great dining experience. A bit overpriced though. A 10% service charge is levied with consent. That’s somehow...
