We stayed at the Aruna Hotel for two nights, since we were travelling at low budget and simply needed a cheap room. The staff is extremely unfriendly and was not even willing to help when we had a medical emergency, although they proclaimed to have a doctor available on request. The non a/c double room was 600 rupees w/o breakfast, no mosquito nets, dirty bedsheets, a dirty bathroom with a window going straight into our neighbour's bathroom (nice sound and smell). They wanted to charge us a ridiculous amount of money for an extra bed. For 600 rupees you can definitely get a good room in India, so keep on searching when you are in Pondicherry and put Aruna at the bottom...
