Take a moment to be thankful for such a exquisite place to open up in our Pune which holds a pride to be largest beer brewery of Maharashtra and second largest beer brewery of India producing about 30000 liters of beer!
Babylon Brewery is newbie in the town and new venture by the successful owners of Level 5 Bistro and Bar and Kalinga Veg Gourmet Kitchen. Babylon completely meets the standard set by Level 5 and Kalinga. Parking can never be issue here. They have huge parking and valet parking is available.
Speaking of the place, The whole set up is made of wood, super classy and hygge. Ceiling made from thousands of bulbs! So creative and artistic. Walls with quotes, beer facts and cutouts. Lovely songs playing in the background. They also have a DJ in the evening.
Staff is well trained, knowledgeable and courteous. Owners are lovely! They personally try to attain all the customers and help you in selecting dishes. Hygiene is given upmost importance here.
Coming to what I had ▪Beer Its a beer brewery and how could we not have a beer. They brew about 30000 liters of beer! And are serving 5 flavours in brew beet for now namely Belgian Wit, IPA, Apple Cider, Hefizen and Oatmeal Stout. My personal favourite is Oatmeal Stout. Made from oatmeals and having balanced flavourof coffee and dark chocolate. I'm thinking of replacing my coffee with Stout once in a while!
▪MASALA MARKE CHAKNA PLATTER The platter consisted of variety bolied chana , roasted peanuts, with spices, onions- tomatoes, etc we had in our childhood giving you that nostalgia. And attention you people you just cannot miss on Chutney Peanut from the platter! It is so simple and basic combination we never thought of can taste so good. You definitely will not find chutney peanuts anywhere out. Goes great with beer.
▪BACON BEER SOUP Soup is served in sphere shaped bread bowl. The whole idea behind this is that bread soaks moisture and flavours from the soup making it more substantial and fulfilling. Beautifully made ,thick consistency and creamy! Soup has so balanced flavours not at all bland leaving an after taste of beer .
▪POT ROAST PORK IN BLACK BEAN SAUCE Tender perfectly cooked pork in black bean sauce with a glass of beer is just perfect! The meat used here is fresh, you can literally feel the freshness in your first bite. Pork is cooked to the perfection and tossed with bell peppers, onion greens and Black bean sauce. Finally satisfied with good Pork dish in Pune.
▪BANANA LEAF FISH The fish is wrapped in Banana Leaf and cooked. It has thai flavours. The lemon grass flavour is prominent in the dish. It is different fish dish and you guys have to give it a try.
▪PRAWN CIGAR Nicely Marinated Prawns that are rolled into cigar sheets and deep fried. Another favourite from here. Prawns used are fresh and tender. It is in the form of finger food. The sweet chilli sauce served with cigar compliments well.
▪BUTTER CHICKEN FRANKIE Frankie has big paratha stuffed with chunks of chicken and dripping butter served with potato chips, tomato ketchup and green chutney. The Butter Chicken is delicious. Frankie is fulfilling.
▪VILAYATI SABZI TIFFIN The tiffin has four compartments consisting of the Sabzi, Dal Makhani, Rice and Paratha respectively. Vilayati Sabzi is basically exotic veggies such as zucchini, broccoli cooked in onion tomatoes gravy and Indian spices. Dal makhani is one of the best I had, very delicious and soul satisfying. Rice was perfectly cooked and yes the Paratha, it had perfect layers to go with the sabzi. The tiffins can be customized.
▪KHEEMA KALEJI PAV Mutton Kheema and Kaleji served with pav is everyones favourite and most iconic combination ever. The kheema has kaleji pieces and loaded with spices and flavours. The pav used are so cute and fresh!Again you wont find these type of pav outside as Babylon bakes bakery products in-house.
▪POPCORN SHAKE This shake is literally like drinking popcorn in liquid form. The blend of popcorn in form of shake is innovative and has turn out beautifully. Recommending this to...
Read moreSo many people have said so many things about this place, have described it so well that definitely I'm short of words to describe it further. But, I can add my bit by saying this old school kinda look gets me into my comfort zone like #home. Where I can enjoy with my friends, family or sometimes just be on my own. Few corner tables make me want to be there more. The wooden finish, few high chairs, the bulb ceiling, everything seems just perfect to compliment each other's existence. Rest, about what Babylon, where it's originated, or any other details, many have already written a lot and is heavily available on Google, as I can't add anything new avoiding to write about it and unnecessarily lengthen the review 😊
Amrita & team like always are on their toes to make an another perfect spot for hangout in K Town, with lip-smacking food, good music & comforting amibence. Thanks Maanas & Aaditya (VMad) for having us on this tasting.
The freshly brewed beers are totally a hit, my personally favorite where,
Oatmeal Shout, a dark colored beer, having evident flavors of coffee and chocolate. This oatmeal beer was similar to Guinness beer I had a year back. As rightly said for Guinness Beer Co, it takes bold brewer to brew bold beers, happy Babylon is bold enough to brew this lightly bitter beer.
Hefeweizen, I liked this highly carbonated beer with a hint of fruity flavour. It was light in color and my new favorite.
I liked their not so sweet version of apple cider beer too.
So, below is the yummy stuff we had during the visit -
#Beer Bacon Soup, a smooth soup. Why smooth? As it just disappears in your mouth. It gives your taste buds attention of each ingredient used in making the soup. The evidence of bacon seasoning and beer will make you feel in love with the soup. It was creamy, semi thick and mildly spicy. Loved the concept of it being served in a hard bun, with the top of bun loaded with melted cheddar. That goes well with the soup.
#Pear & Feta Salad, pear & feta both are my favorites. And to add more and more taste to it had iceberg lettuce, pumpkin seeds, caramelized walnuts, dehydrated cherries and a brandy dressing. All this healthy masala in a salad took this to a different level for me. With each bite it will make you fall for it even more. #healthyfood yet #tasty.
Teekha #Chicken Baida Roti, baida roti wrapped over boneless small chicken chunks cooked in spicy semi dry red base. This got me back to the stuff I miss to eat at bademiya, Mumbai. This rich red spicy base of chicken was mouthwatering. The roti and chicken combo can make you feel full, it's kinda a wholesome meal.
Oye Kakke #Kheema Samosa, delicious mutton kheema stuff in patti samosa and deep fried. Again, wasn't much oily, which means you definitely won't stop after one. The cover was crunchy and minced mutton was tossed and cooked well in spices.
Chef ming's #Paneer Tikka, paneer grilled to perfection with a marination of sriracha and schezwan sauce. You can't guess what's actually this, unless u try it 😅😅 The soft, fresh paneer marinated in this sauce is quite unique & this new mix one which I loved it the most. #Recommended
Banana leaf #Fish, basa cooked in banana leaf with some aromatic herbs like kafir lime leaves, lemon grass, galangal and a hint of jaggery and soya sauce. It was the #sneakthief, the show stealer for me. I don't like non indianized, not fried fish and this is definitely an exception for this dislike. It was as soft as tender coconut, coconut flesh which just melts in your mouth. The combination of herbs and sauce gets out some exquisite aroma, taste out of the dish. #mustmusttry
Barbeque Chicken #Pizza, a thin crust pizza topped with barbecue sauce marinated chicken, cheese and finalized with barbecue sauce drizzle. The base was super crisp and was baked to perfection. The chicken was skewed well and use of generous amount of cheese made this version a yummiest pizza.
Overall, Friday evening spent with best food, good company & nice music. I'm in love with their food and ambience....
Read moreBabylon brewery is a new addition to the ever-growing list of breweries in Pune. What's so special about this brewery you ask? Might I add, it's the first one to open up in the area of Erandwane so people don't have to run to KP every time they are thirsty for a craft beer. Secondly, they got you sorted with fantastic beers, excellent food, rocking ambiance and most importantly, valet parking!
Coming to their craft beers, we got to taste the first five that they have come up with. There will be more additions soon.
BEERS:
STOUT: Oat meal stout has notes of coffee and dark chocolate adding to it's complexity. My personal favorite, it's not a just any beer, it's the best one! The lacing on the glass itself proves what a good beer it is. Not for the faint-hearted!
HEFEWEIZER: A pale, refreshing German wheat beer which is the most known and loved beer in the world. It has a distinctive fruity and bubblegum flavor.
BELGIAN WIT: Belgian Witbier is an unfiltered ale which is pale and cloudy. Refreshing and fruity, with flavors of lemon and orange. This beer is for those who like to keep it light.
APPLE CIDER: Well, this is not exactly a beer but I am sure most of us love to drink this when we want something fruity and light. It's made using 100% German apples. Has a slightly sweet taste with the aroma of apples.
IPA: Moderately strong, bitter, yet balanced. Has notes of grapefruit and tropical fruits.
FOOD: You will be spoilt for options because everything on their menu is delicious.
BEER AND BACON SOUP: We started with this soup which is served in a bread container so that you can scrape off the bottom of this edible bowl and relish your hot, steaming, creamy soup. The bacon lovers will keep coming back for this homely bowl of sheer bliss.
PRAWN CIGARS: Deep fried cigars with prawns stuffing served with a spicy, tangy sauce which is so drool-worthy! Crispy, spicy and irresistible.
OYE KAKKE KHEEMA SAMOSA: Tiny samosas stuffed with the perfect kheema ever! These are served with a mint chutney and ketchup. Perfect snack for people in groups.
SHOESTRING ONIONS: The best chakhna one can find! Onions are deeply fried and seasoned with the most amazing spices. Oh that crunch!
CHICKEN DUMPLINGS: These weren't like any of the dumplings I have had before. Babylon serves these dumplings in the bamboo steamers but each dumpling is kept in separate shells which has bird-eye chili and spiced broth underneath. The idea is to present it like an oyster which really is a fantastic idea because it refrains the dumplings from getting dry. Nailed it! Beware of the chili though, I loved it, but it broke me into sweat.
KHEEMA KALEJI PAV: Ah! Brilliant! Who doesn't want kheema pav after getting drunk? Kheema is perfectly cooked and seasoned. But the show-stoppers were the cute bunny pavs served alongside. I think I need to stop writing and go back to eat some more.
AMMA'S AMUL CHEESE PIJJA: Maa ki yaad ayegi zaroor! Every one of us must have had home-made pizzas by our mothers. I am talking about getting ready-made buns and garnishing it with ketchup, veggies, cheese and butter. This is exactly what you get when you order this pijja and they make it taste so good!
PORK MINI HOT DOGS: Pork sausages tucked between bread, with mustard, ketchup, sweet onions and garnish. The addition of sweet onions is a game-changer which brings all the flavors together.
BUTTER CHICKEN TIFFIN WITH DAL MAKHANI: This is their masterpiece! They serve you an entire dabba with roti, indrayani rice, dal makhani and butter chicken. The chicken chunks are huge and the curry is to die for! Smoked dal makhani is a star! Don't miss it.
CHOCOLATE CHIMICHANGA: Weird? Nah! Delicious. Crunchy pockets filled with oozing melted chocolate, with raspberry coulis and a sweet-spicy mango salsa. Your sweet tooth will bless you!
I can't wait to go back. Although this might mean a lot of planning and dieting for days, I know it will be worth all the calories! A huge thank you to @vmadmedia and Team Babylon for extending the invitation. I had...
