After many years, I decided to attend Fete De La Musique at High Spirits to enjoy a Saturday filled with music, food, and drinks. I went in with an open mind and thought it might be helpful to share my experience for others planning a visit.
The overall atmosphere was decent—lively yet not overwhelming. That said, the main stage around 8 PM featured a reggae act whose sound unfortunately wasn’t quite audible. It may have been a technical glitch, but I hope future performers take a note in that regard.
The bartenders were visibly under pressure, which is understandable during a packed event. If you like your drink with less ice, it’s best to remind them more than once—things weren't quite fast-paced.
We ordered three dishes: fries, nachos, and a truffle mushroom pizza. The fries were definitely the highlight—cheesy and well-seasoned. The nachos leaned towards the spicier side, so pairing them with the white dip helped balance the flavor. The pizza had an interesting spinach topping, which I personally enjoyed more than the rest of the pie.
Surprisingly, the indoor section (reserved for couples and ladies) had a much better music vibe. That space truly elevated our evening. However, I did notice there wasn’t table service—you had to place and collect your own order from the bar. While it wasn’t a deal breaker, I’m hoping this feedback might help improve hospitality in the future.
Overall, it was a night of good moments and a few misses. Still worth checking out, especially if you're going for the vibe more than the...
Read moreBizarre incident on the part of the event management team today when it comes to the hosting of a concert - my son and his partner arrived for a first-time live music experience, and valet parking attendants chose to send both of them off because of their footwear or attire. Attempts to show the concert ticket were lost in the insistent cries for attention coming from cars seeking to part in a parking lot separated from the main venue due to the interminable roadworks currently underway. Initially, likely due to the size of the concert crowd, calls and messages to the host went unanswered, which surprised me since I'd been to this venue on a scooter seven years back, and felt very welcome then.
It is probable that those hired for valet parking need to be trained to ask for tickets rather than making snap judgements. It is also likely that there was some other event hosted earlier in the day, which may have required more formal clothing than that which concerts would have, and it is crucial that valet parking personnel make a note of the difference. It's all very well to proactively reach out to the disappointed concert patrons so that they can attend at least half of the concert, and to look after them after an incident like this is reported, but it is first and foremost the management's responsibility to ensure that no one else has to experience such appalling behaviour...
Read moreHigh Spirits cafe is easily my most favourite place on the planet for multiple reasons. It is super organised in terms of what happens on Monday, Tuesday and so on. My favourite day is definitely the Baraoke Tuesdays where you get to sing karaoke with your friends while the vibes are absolutely immaculate and get alcohol at vintage rates. It literally is the perfect place for everyone- if you’re into live music, High is the place for you. If you’re into taking one day out to just de stress from your corporate life, high sunday cookout is the right choice for you. If you want to go for a fun hiphop gig or play bingo, High is the best place for you. You name it, High does it. It has the best best staff and crew members. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. They make sure to welcome you and take care of you and give you the best experience possible when you’re visiting. The crew members are very responsible and manage the place so well and the staff is super friendly and help you whenever you need it. The ambience is amazing and so is the food. My favourite dish is the butter chicken samosas followed by my second favourite grilled chicken breast with veggies.
The food’s quality and quantity is top notch and this is also easily the most pocket friendly and fun place to be at. A 10000%...
