We come from a well-respected family background being a successful entrepreneurs and always make it a point to speak respectfully and politely, especially with the staff and the ladies at the venue. However, that basic courtesy was not returned at Bastian. Just because someone is in a position of authority—or in this case, a woman at the gate—does not give them the right to be abusive or disrespectful toward others, especially when we’ve made no provocation.
I’ve raised multiple complaints to Bastian management in person as well specifically to their managers Ritesh & Akshay about the behavior of their gate staff, particularly Abha, but unfortunately, no action has been taken so far. Abha has consistently been rude and disrespectful—her behavior is far from professional. She acts as if she owns the place, forgetting that doing a job doesn’t mean you have the right to be abusive or dismissive toward guests. Gender doesn’t excuse such conduct, and her treatment towards guests was completely unacceptable.
There used to be a girl in a black blazer who wears glasses stationed at the gate who once refused us entry, but she handled the situation with dignity and politeness—never rude, never disrespectful she handled things firmly but respectfully. That’s the kind of staff Bastian should be retaining. There’s a way to do your job without degrading others. Even the North Indian girl, though blunt and short-tempered at times, but was at least not abusive. Should I be thanking Bastian management just for that basic decency?
If such behavior continues unchecked, it won’t be long before Bastian loses its place in Pune’s hospitality scene. No one wants to visit a place where they’re treated like they don’t belong. It’s disappointing that a place trying to attract a “elite crowd” can’t ensure their own staff reflects that standard and not just their appearance. If you want to create a premium experience, start by hiring and training staff who understand professionalism and basic manners. I would never recommend you to go to bastian for their bar nights as you’ll just get abusive behaviour by Abha who apparently thinks she owns the place and nothing would run without her presence.

I’ve been a regular at most clubs in Pune for years, and I’ve never been treated badly. All the other clubs I visit treat me so well, but Bastian, in particular, has some of the rudest and most unprofessional staff I’ve ever encountered. The guy with plaits at the entry, Aakash, overcharged me double the usual entry fee. When I mentioned that a friend of mine worked there, he snapped at me, saying my friend had left and the rate was fixed. I was about to pay when Aakash said, “If you can’t pay, don’t come in.” The disrespect was unbelievable!! I was shocked! When I responded, he had the female bouncer ask me to leave. The male bouncers, who know me from Blak, were just as confused as I was, but I still had to leave.
Fast forward to Friday – my friends insisted we go back, and before I could even speak, they told me I was banned. – for what? Because I argued with some rude guy once? Is he the owner? No! When I asked why, the staff started arguing with me instead of explaining anything. When I tried recording the incident for proof, the North Eastern lady at the entry not only refused to apologize but also arrogantly started recording me and my friend too and became even more rude. They then tell another friend he is banned too. This behavior is absolutely terrible. It’s completely unprofessional to record a customer, and it reflects how little they actually care about their customers. It’s clear they don’t give a shit about the people who actually support their business.
This is really unacceptable and not expected at such an apparently huge place. It’s not just me – quite a few of my friends and acquaintances have had similar experiences with the staff here, and it’s clear they’re ruining the reputation of Bastian. They act like the place belongs to them and treat customers like dirt. It’s honestly shocking, especially when I’ve supported this place so many times and gone there so many times in the past. Read moreWent for birthday Celebration for my Wife, overall okay, some issues were there Pre-booking - I reserved the table from their website and got message on Whatsapp, asking to pay 1,000 rupees per head ( for 4,000 rupees for 4 people ) to confirm the reservation. After paying, I got confirmation on Whatsapp, still the next day I got call asking if the reservation is confirmed and telling me to be on time as they hold the reservation for 20 minutes only. Reaching Bastian Empire Pune - This place is inside Westin Hotel in Mundwa Pune, on right hand side on Ground Floor, I reached early by 20 minutes, the restaurant was CLOSED ( Opens at 7:00 pm ) and there is no waiting area, had to just stand outside the restaurant, they did not allow to go inside and sit at a place before 7:00 pm. If they are so strict about reservation and holding for 20 minutes, they should invest in some sort of waiting area. So if you are going at a time in evening when restaurant opens, do not reach ONE minute earlier, later is fine. Restaurant ambience and service - In general, the restaurant has lot of sitting space and it was not till 8:00 pm most of the people starting coming in, to my surprise, we were asked to sit near the bar, inspite of having kids, I refused to sit near the bar and got a place other side. Service - Overall Good, but we asked for a bottle of prosecco, most of them on the menu were not available, then they got one of their choice, whatever was available. We ordered one sea food with rice, that was not good and when Chef came, we told him and he said that the particular dish is on house as we did not like it, but the billing people did not cancel that in the final bill.
