I disovered this place out of nowhere when me and my friend were searching for a 'non veg thali with tambda pandhra'. Tucked in the bylanes of Sadashiv Peth, this place really delivered on its name. Don't go in hoping for a world-class ambiance or service, its a very khanaval store experience. And it only adds to the whole thing. The place has only 4 tables, which are cramped together. The food comes out of a small window behind the kitchen and you constantly hear the rattle from the kitchen mixed with the Marathi serial on the little TV above.
Coming to the food, since we dropped in a little early, just short of 12, the kheema wasn't ready, so we had to settle for thalis that did not have kheema. Mine had chicken masala, chicken fry, anda masala and the usual periphery. The chicken was beautifully cooked, tender, well marinated and perfectly coated in the masala. The fry chicken was delicious and appropriately spicy. The tambda pandhra rassas played perfect yin and yang to each other, while the chapatis were soft and fresh. The rice too was well cooked. The only part Indid not like was the dahi kanda. There was next to no dahi in it. It had been stored in the freezer, probably, so numbed my teeth on the first few bites. And the onions were probably run through a chopper instead of cut by hand, which gave it a bitter taste. We asked for normal sliced onions as an alternative and were provided which was certainly a whole lot better.
The kaka on the counter, who also takes your order and serves you is extremely courteous and polite.
To sum up, I am going back whenever I am having a friendly. Its yummy, homely, and...
Read moreI discovered this place by chance while searching for a 'non-veg thali with tambda pandhra' in Sadashiv Peth with a friend. This is also famous for their kolhapuri taste. This spot truly lives up to its reputation. Don’t expect a world-class ambiance or service; it’s a typical khanaval (eating house) experience, which adds to its charm. With only four cramped tables, the food comes out of a small window behind the kitchen, accompanied by the kitchen’s rattles and a Marathi serial on a tiny TV.
We arrived just before 12, so the kheema wasn’t ready. Instead, we had thalis with chicken masala, chicken fry, anda masala, and the usual sides. The chicken was beautifully cooked, tender, and well-marinated. The fry chicken was delicious and appropriately spicy. The tambda and pandhra rassas were perfect complements, while the chapatis were soft and fresh. The rice was well-cooked too. However, the dahi kanda was disappointing—barely any dahi and likely stored in the freezer, which numbed my teeth. The onions tasted bitter, probably due to being machine-chopped. We requested normal sliced onions, which were much better. Overall, I’ll definitely return for its yummy, homely, and pocket-friendly food. Don't expect fancy things here it is simple and pocket friendly khanawal but...
Read moreGot to know that this place has amazing chicken thali at a very affordable price range . So decided to visit it. Maratha Darbar serves both veg and non-vegetarian thalis . Their basic thali is ₹170 which has a chicken curry , egg curry , roti or bhakri, two types of gravies and rice . They also have a special thali which includes everything in normal thali and an extra chicken kheema and a different type of rice. If you have a big appetite you can finish the special thali easily. But the regular thali is enough for a person. If you visit this place you must try their chicken Biryani. It is mouth watering. They also serve mutton thali at same pricing range . The service is fast . But you have to wait for a while because it's mostly crowded. Definitely visit this place or add it to your...
