Highly Disappointed – Not at all Worth the Hype or the Price

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant, which clearly rests on its past reputation rather than maintaining current service standards.

To begin with, the menu was shockingly underwhelming. Basic components of a traditional thali—such as dal and kadhi—were completely missing, replaced instead by three varieties of sweets, which felt excessive and unnecessary. There was no sprout curry, and the overall balance of the meal was completely off. For a place that claims authenticity, this was a letdown.

The crowd management was chaotic and handled arrogantly. Given the restaurant's consistent footfall and established name, one would expect a system in place—but there was no order, courtesy, or hospitality in managing guests.

We visited with a toddler—my friend’s recently turned two-year-old daughter—and were appalled to find that there was no provision of a high chair for young children. Instead, we were told to seat the child on two stacked chairs, an incredibly unsafe and thoughtless suggestion. When we requested a small empty plate for the child to eat with, even that was blatantly denied.

This kind of insensitive and inflexible service is simply unacceptable, especially in a family-oriented dining setting.

Lastly, the parking was disgustingly mismanaged. The approach and exit were chaotic, with no one to guide, and no proper space demarcated. It was a complete mess.

It is evident that the management has become complacent, taking customer footfall for granted due to their monopoly in the area and past credibility. There is no visible effort to evolve or improve the dining experience.

In conclusion, the visit was absolutely not worth the price paid—neither in terms of food, service, nor the overall experience. I would strongly urge the management to introspect and bring serious improvements before they completely lose the trust of...

I recently had the pleasure of indulging in the Durvankar Thali, an exquisite culinary journey that transported my taste buds across the diverse and flavorful landscape of Indian cuisine. This traditional Indian thali experience at Durvankar left me both satisfied and impressed.

Presentation: The Durvankar Thali is a visual delight. Served on a gleaming stainless steel platter, it features an array of small dishes, each showcasing a different aspect of Indian cooking. The presentation is vibrant, with an assortment of colors, textures, and aromas that instantly stimulate the appetite.

Variety: One of the highlights of the Durvankar Thali is its variety. You'll find staples like rice, roti (flatbread), daal (lentils), vegetables, curries, pickles, and a delightful selection of desserts.

Portion Size: The portion sizes in the Durvankar Thali are generous, making it a fantastic option for those with hearty appetites. However, it might be a bit overwhelming for those looking for a lighter meal.

Service: The service at Durvankar is not that attentive, and the staff is a bit sluggish.

Price: Considering the variety and quality of dishes included in the Durvankar Thali, the price is reasonable. It's an excellent way to explore a wide range of Indian flavors without breaking the bank.

Conclusion: Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian food or new to its flavors, this thali provides a satisfying and authentic introduction to the rich tapestry of Maharashtrian gastronomy. While the portion size may be a bit much for some, it's a perfect choice for those looking to embark on a flavorful journey of culinary heritage. My visit to Durvankar was a gastronomic adventure that left me with a deeper appreciation for the diversity and complexity of...

I didn't absolutely understand why they are charging 450/- per plate, I went there as it's a very old and famous establishment, i thought I have to try it as m missing out on something, the place was very clean with around 40 tables and plastic chairs and table cloth on each table, very tidy but chairs looked odd and not up to the mark. You go inside and take ur coupon after the payment on the basis of per person costing 450/- each. It was not a well ventilated place with so many ppl inside, u can smell the sweat of the ppl when u inside, I don't know if there was any air conditioning or not but it was not running at that time with only few windows open, I also started sweating while eating the food. Now let's come to the food. In one word it was nothing exceptional or worth the price that's why one star. There were 3-4 bhajis, pooris, chapati, few papad options one raita, dahi bhalla, gulab jamun and few fried pakoras kind of thing which I can't figure out what exactly and there was varan bhaat and khichadi with desi ghee. From my perspective food shouldn't have cost more than 250/-. When I entered there in my mind I started comparing it sukanta, shreyas and many other famous veg thali only restaurants in pune, but this was a total disappointment, they didn't even have a salad with the thali or a second sweet option let alone the few cold dishes. i don't know how it's such jam packed and ppl r paying that much cost for this food with so many options nearby, i still think there must be something I m missing, i still do. Wish them all the luck and cheers to the quick and excellent service. Go there if u r a fan varan bhaat...

I have always been a great fan of restaurants serving thalis /all-you-can-eat in house ; given they serve some really exciting food from menu. No one including me , wish to see some bland or any regular day-to-day servings in the menu. Coming to this respective restaurant- visited them for Sunday lunch, within no time I can see restaurant getting closely packed. I can definitely sense some proud feeling among them, just because they got a seat. Till, food got served I wasn’t aware that they strictly avoid onion and garlic in their preparation of food which made me quite skeptical but nevertheless items were tasting good. They served Dhokla , Dahi-Vada, Dal fritters, sprouts curry, Shrikhand ( Yogurt based dessert ), Sitafal Kheer (Custard Apple Pudding) , Aloo matar ( Potato-green peas curry), Masala mashed potatoes, Poori, Chapattis, Masala Rice, Dal-Rice and regular other sides on thalis like buttermilk, salad, fried chilies etc. Special mention: 1. They serve the rice first , drizzle melting ghee on top, and garnish with grated coconut and coriander on your plate. 2. Chapattis and Aloo fry. 3. They give you 10% discount-as on 1th October 2017 –if you aren’t wasting any food. 4. Mouth fresheners in the end – sugar coated anise, is what you find everywhere but along with that, they keep roasted anise and toasted coconut crumble.

We visited this place for lunch on a weekday. It was at less than half occupancy at the moment. It draws a diverse and mixed crowd, which is quite reassuring. It's on the first floor, but they have an elevator so it's not a problem for the elderly people. Also they have a limited number of parking slots available. Might be a good idea to call before hand if you need car parking. As there is no parking available in the vicinity as it is located on a busy main street. Once you enter you need to pay first and get the coupon. The unlimited thali is 450 Rs. Per person. Yes the price is a little high. They also provide a parcel option. Once you are seated at your table they will bring the thalis. Which is followed by a small water bottle. The menu items are displayed at the entrance so you can decide if you like it and want to proceed or leave. The service was simply great. They have a steady stream of waiters who were very good. The food is very good overall except for 3-4 items in the thali which were not up to the mark. We loved the sweet dishes. Both the rabdi and the dudhi halwa were superb. It's definitely worth visiting as you can see in the endorsement this restaurant has received in all reviews.
