A Horrible Experience at janjira Restaurant
Today, I visited Genjira Restaurant with my friends, and it turned out to be a truly horrible experience. I feel itâs my responsibility to share this so others donât waste their hard-earned money here.
Poor Food Quality: The food quality was absolutely terrible. We ordered Fish Tikka, which was nothing more than fried fish drenched in oil â no proper seasoning or taste. We also tried Konkani Chicken and Malvani Chicken, but the Malvani Chicken was especially horrible in taste. Being known as a seafood-special restaurant, we expected fresh and flavorful fish dishes, but what we got instead was old fish, likely Basa, with an awful taste.
Terrible Service: The service was one of the worst I have experienced. Although they had around three to four waiters, only one was actively attending to customers, while the rest were just roaming around. We had to ask multiple times (at least five times!) just to get spoons, which shows how unprofessional and inattentive the staff is.
Biased Focus on Drinkers: Another major issue was their biased focus on customers who were drinking at the bar. Since itâs a restaurant and bar, their entire attention was on people consuming alcohol, while those who came for dinner were completely neglected. This made us feel unwelcome and unimportant as customers.
Lack of Fresh Fish Variety: For a restaurant famous for seafood, it was shocking that they didnât have a good variety of fresh fish available. The fish they served tasted stale, and the overall quality was far below expectations.
Poor Hygiene Standards: Even the plates werenât properly cleaned, which added to the bad experience. Such poor hygiene is unacceptable in any restaurant, let alone one with a big name like Genjira.
Final Verdict: Despite its fame, Genjira Restaurant has the worst food quality, terrible service, and misplaced priorities. If youâre thinking about visiting, I strongly urge you to reconsider. Save your money and choose a place that values its customers and offers a decent dining...

After a long time, we visited Janzira (Navi Peth Branch), touted as the first seafood restaurant of Pune. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the expectations.
Ambience: Below Average Service: Below Average Food Quality: Below Average Pricing: Very High considering the quality provided Attention: Below Average & ignorant
Our Order:
Butter Garlic Prawns: We received nine very tiny prawns with no extraordinary taste. The prawns were not juicy and weren't well-marinated with the butter. There was no garlic taste. These were probably the smallest prawns I've ever had in any restaurant.
Bombil Thecha Fry: The fish was not well-marinated in the green masala (thecha) and lacked flavor. I've had much better versions in other restaurants.
Pinacolada: We ordered one Pinacolada cocktail but received two. We accepted the extra drink to avoid causing a loss for the captain, as sometimes these things happen.
Crab Soup: This was good in taste. However, the quantity was initially noted incorrectly by the captain, which we had to correct.
Aflatun Kombdi Fry: This dish was good but overpriced for what was provided.
Chicken Dum Biryani: This was below average. It cannot be called Dum Biryani as it was not properly marinated, and the masala was not mixed well with the rice. It was anything but not a Dum Biryani.
We also received one complimentary mocktail upon giving a review on Google, which I now feel was unnecessary and offered as a lure.
In the end, we had a hefty bill of Rs. 3863 for four people. It was not at all a reasonable treat. Donât waste your time and money here; there are many other restaurants offering better quality at lower prices. Not...
Read moreI had been searching for a good sea food resto in Pune for a while and I feel Janjira meets the requirements for being into that category. Though it cannot compete with the fish food you get in Goa but Janjira is good for Pune ! I have visited this more than 5 times and Everytime I was served fish that was fresh and cooked perfectly! I normally go alone to have fish and I found this place completely safe and comfortable even when there were not-so-many customers around. Service is friendly and polite ! If enquired then they take the extra effort to explain you the cooking style. They also suggest the best combinations possible. Slightly high on the price scale but totally worth it ! Also, I don't think good fresh fish would be cheap in Pune so the price is justified. Conclusion, I Would definitely recommend visiting this place if you want to try fish in Pune! On weekends there is waiting period...
