Manas, Satara

If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Satara’s rich and flavorful cuisine, Manas is a must-visit. Known for its traditional Maharashtrian flavors and expertly spiced dishes, this restaurant delivers a homely yet unforgettable dining experience.

Food & Taste: Manas specializes in a variety of dishes that showcase Satara’s signature spice blends. Their mutton and chicken preparations are rich, aromatic, and cooked to perfection. Whether you prefer the deep, slow-cooked flavors of traditional curries or something grilled and smoky, you won’t be disappointed.

For those who love authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, they offer dishes like Pithal (spiced gram flour curry), Methi Besan (fenugreek and gram flour mix), and many more, all served with your choice of roti, chapati, bhakari, or soft Indrayani rice. These traditional pairings enhance the taste and make the meal feel like a home-cooked delight.

If you crave Punjabi flavors, Manas also serves a variety of creamy, spicy, and buttery gravies that pair perfectly with naan or tandoori roti.

Ambience & Service: The restaurant has a welcoming and comfortable ambiance, making it perfect for families, friends, and food lovers who enjoy authentic regional flavors. The service is warm and efficient, with staff members happy to suggest dishes based on your preferences.

Verdict: For anyone visiting or living in Pune, Manas is a must-visit for an authentic, spice-rich, and fulfilling meal. Whether you’re a fan of traditional Maharashtrian dishes, spicy non-veg curries, or classic Punjabi flavors, this place offers a memorable taste of real, rustic flavors. Highly...

Last night was a disaster due to the food provided here. Food - We were two of us, and we thought to check for thali , cause we were expecting it to be unlimited. We were been told as it's a sharing bit that we will be doing so it will be limited. Which we understood and came to the terms of eating it as a limited thali itself. Food presentation was not good and the soup was not good either. Rice given to us was a biryani mixture which was very less. Then we had not been given the lemon either initially. We had to ask for it. Later, the food which was provided had spills all over the plate. There was too much of pickle even more than the chicken kheema. Jowar roti was soft and good. The entire thali had only two things which were good chicken kheema and jowar roti which were given in least. In the other part of chicken sukkha only the neck pieces were given and only one single piece which was worth eating

Service - the manager didnt have the patience at all for waiting on the table. He had a running nose and didn't bother to wear a mask. He was showing very little interest in waiting for us to order. The waiters were not ready to give basic things like water(refilling of water) or lemons or even rice until asked for. Also unless asked for an extra plate or cutlery they didn't proactively provide it.

Ambience- unclean and almost every person seemed like they didn't't clean up properly. When I went to the washroom as well it was unclean and unhygienic. The glass in which they served water was not cleaned properly.

The person in the parking was also clumsy and didn't bother to tell initially that the parking is available.

Not a place to go...

It was a long time bucket list place for me. I always visited the outlet near Satara while going to Kolhapur, Mahabaleshwar, goa.

We had reserved table for an odd figure 11 and still they arranged place for us with ease.

We majorly ordered for mutton thali which comprises of Mutton Fry Tambda (red masala curry) Pandhra Rassa (white curry, coconut milk base) Mutton kheema Boiled egg Option for Chapati/bhakari/ Tandoori roti Option for rice was Biryani/ indrayani plain rice/ jeera rice.... Few of us were disappointed with the the taste as we had been to the Satara outlet and it did not carry our expectations.

We also order for:-

Mutton kharda We expected a bit spicy as the Name describes KHARDA, but it was not at all spicy. Tasted good.

Chicken fry:- For kids actually and the spice was well balanced

Chicken Malai kebab:- Again for kids and they loved it.

Solkadi:- Tasted good with perfect sweet and tangy taste.

They had recently introduces Alni Bhath, which is a combination of Mutton stock and indrayani rices cooked together with soft pieces of Mutton like liver. They offered us a complimentary portion to taste and it tasted really good. We wished to have more but we were already full and could not find more space for it.

This place offered a slightly better than average experience overall. We only tried their non-vegetarian food, specifically chicken dishes and bhakari, which turned out to be quite satisfying. The chicken was flavorful and cooked well, while the bhakari was fresh and complemented the meal nicely. However, the biryani was underwhelming—it lacked flavor depth and didn’t quite match the quality of the other dishes. There’s definite room for improvement there. The ambience was bright, cozy, and comfortable, giving the place a welcoming vibe for casual dining. Parking was convenient for two-wheelers, but four-wheelers might face some difficulty, especially if it’s crowded. Toilets were just average—usable if needed, but nothing to praise. Ratings: • Food: 3.8/5 • Ambience: 4.2/5 • Staff & Service: 4/5 • Toilets: 3.2/5 • Parking: 3.5/5 • Value for Money: 4/5 Overall: A decent option in Pune for local-style non-veg food—especially chicken and bhakari. Skip the biryani if you’re picky about it. With a cozy atmosphere and decent pricing, Manas Satara is worth trying once if you’re nearby and in the mood for regional flavors. Recommended for a simple and filling meal.
