The summer sun beat down on Pune as I made my way to Rajpurush Pure Veg, the aroma of spices wafting through the air. My stomach rumbled in anticipation – today was the day I'd try their special Aamras Thali.
Inside, the restaurant buzzed with lunchtime energy. I snagged a table and eagerly awaited my thali. Moments later, a waiter arrived bearing a giant silver platter, a symphony of vibrant colors and enticing smells. Steaming rice, glistening dal tadka, and a rainbow of curries – each looked more delicious than the last.
But the star of the show was undoubtedly the aamras, a bright yellow mango puree nestled in a small bowl. The first dip of roti into the aamras was a revelation. The sweet, tangy mango flavor exploded in my mouth, perfectly complementing the savory curries. It was a delightful push and pull between sweet and spicy, a true celebration of summer.
As I savored each bite, the curries offered a delightful mix of textures and flavors. A creamy palak paneer offered a cool contrast to the fiery aloo matar. Each element on the thali seemed thoughtfully chosen to create a harmonious symphony of taste.
Of course, no thali is complete without accompaniments. Papads provided a satisfying crunch, while dollops of chilled raita offered a cooling respite. The accompaniments weren't just afterthoughts; they elevated the entire dining experience.
By the time I reached the aamras again, I was pleasantly full, but the lure of that sweet, seasonal treat was too strong to resist. A final dip of roti, this time savored slowly, brought a smile to my face.
Dining on the special Aamras Thali at Rajpurush Pure Veg was more than just a meal; it was a celebration of summer's bounty. It was a testament to the power of simple ingredients, skillfully combined to create a taste explosion. As I left the restaurant, the sweet aftertaste of mango lingered on my tongue, a reminder of a truly delightful...
Read moreParampara Dining Hall: A Disappointing Experience
Parampara Dining Hall offers a blend of Maharashtrian and Rajasthani cuisine but unfortunately, it fails to meet expectations in several key aspects.
Parking: The restaurant lacks dedicated parking, though valet service is available to park vehicles on the roadside. This setup might not be ideal for those expecting convenience.
Ambiance: The ambiance felt dull and uninspiring during our evening visit. While this is a personal preference, it didn’t create a welcoming or lively atmosphere.
Service: The service was one of the few positives, with polite and attentive staff ensuring a smooth dining experience. However, good service alone could not make up for other shortcomings.
Food: The food quality was deeply disappointing, especially after a tiring day when we were looking forward to a good meal.
Although there were numerous dishes, blending Maharashtrian and Rajasthani flavors, none stood out for the right reasons.
The puranpoli lacked taste and authenticity.
The sabji was utterly flavorless.
The pandhara rassa was excessively spicy and poorly balanced.
The dum biryani was the worst dish of the lot, leaving us unsatisfied. The only redeeming items were the mini samosas and fruit salad, which were decent at best.
Cost: The prices were too high for the quality and experience offered, making it an unworthy value for money.
Overall: Parampara Dining Hall doesn’t live up to its promise of a delightful dining experience. Poor food quality, dull ambiance, and high prices outweigh the good service. If dissatisfaction is what you seek, this might be the place; otherwise, explore other options. Not...
Read moreRecently, we visited this hotel, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience.
To begin with, the price of ₹419 per thali felt unjustified given the overall quality. The food did not match the expectations set by such pricing. Among the entire spread, only the aamras and white dhokla were enjoyable. The welcome drink felt cheap, the buttermilk was tasteless, and the kadhi and dal were excessively sweet. The chaat was poorly prepared—no papdis, only potatoes. In terms of bread, they offered only chapati and puri, and both the badam halwa and jalebi failed to impress.
Moreover, while they charge ₹419, the quantity served was inadequate. The serving bowls were too small, and to make matters worse, the waiters didn’t even fill them properly. Most of the time, the bowls were only half-filled.
The service was shocking. The waitstaff appeared unprofessional and inattentive. They wouldn't serve food unless specifically called to the table and often ignored guests. Many items listed in the thali weren’t served unless asked for directly. The staff also made no effort to check if we needed anything else during the meal.
For the price they charge, the service and food quality were unacceptable. This turned out to be a very disappointing experience.
The only highlight of the day was the delicious aamras, which was truly soul-satisfying.
I would not recommend visiting this hotel. It was a complete waste of...
