Shisha Jazz Café !
Shisha Jazz Café is one of the well known places in Pune serving Iranian, Continental and North Indian Cuisine. The Restaurant has a very rustic and impressive ambience and feels cosy. I have visited this place in past but never tried the Irani cuisine which I do regret after my recent visit at Shisha. I recently got an opportunity to try their Iranian Cuisine which is prepared at the home of the owner, then transported daily at the restaurant and sevred as per portion size. We were welcomed by the owner Mr. Mehdi Niroomand who is one of the most humble, energetic and amazing persons I have met in my life. #Foodtasting
Ash Reshteh: A thick and rich veg soup prepared with noodles, herbs and beans was excellent in taste. It was served along with a portion of irani bread which was extremely crunchy. #Recommended
Salad: Chicken salad prepared along with tomato cucumber was superb in taste, it was slightly tangy in taste. lt was so good that I had more than my share of this delicious salad. #Musthave
Kukah Sabzi: An omelette prepared with finely chopped assorted leafy vegetables and eggs was something which I had never seen. The egg portion was used in minimal quanity only to bind the leafy vegetables, it was mild on flavors yet it impressed me a lot. It was cut into small triangle shaped portion and was moist and very soft. #highlyrecommended
Chello Kebab: Chicken Seekh kebab served on a bed of plain rice which was drizzled with sumac and served along with grilled tomato portion, butter, onions and a secret in house prepared tomato sauce, it was tangy and superb in taste. The chicken kebab was extremely juicy and soft even after 15-20 mins after its arrival. It was indeed one of the best kebabs preparations which I have seen. #Musthave
Berry Pulao: This was the first time when I tried this delicacy and it was brilliant in taste. It was prepared which shredded chicken pieces and dried cranberries and well cooked long grain rice. Truly a delight to my taste buds. #Recommended
Desserts
Rangineh Ice Cream: Regular Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Ragineh powder prepared from wheat atta, dates and cinnamon which is roasted on slow flame for around 2-3 hours, it was heavenly in taste. I was really impressed and couldn’t believe that such simple ingredients can enhance the taste of an ice cream to such an extent. #Musthave
Baklava: An Irani verison of the popular Baklava was also extreme ly well done. It was not like the Baklava versions which I have tasted before which are flaky, this one was small diamond shaped cuts and was served warm and had thick filo sheets stuffed with nuts stuffing and was topped with coconut #Highlyrecommended
Irani Tea – Our meal ended with hot tea which was served along with excellent quality dates. Indeed a perfect ending to a memorable meal.
Overall: Service was exceptional; the lunch became more memorable with travel experience stories and some insights about Irani Food Culture by the owner Mr. Mehdi Niroomand. Thanks a lot Team Shisha Jazz Café for hosting us and Sasha Anand for the Invite.
Location: ABC Farms, Near Westin, KP Annexe,...
Read moreGo here if you want to get beaten up by the owners and their staff.
They give you incorrect invoices, start shouting at you and threaten you saying they shall “break your legs” when you ask for clarifications regarding the same and Throw you down from the 1st floor and then gang up to beat you up when you ask for the correct invoices.
I am writing this after a few days because my body was swollen and my spirit is still broken after the physical assault from the owners of Shisha. I had the following experience at Shisha on 15th November 2018.
I used Zomato Gold here and they gave me an invoice with discrepancies regarding the offer and a handwritten amount which they told me was an entry charge. (This entry charge wasn’t mentioned anywhere nor was I told about it anytime during the visit before they gave us the invoice).
Since the invoice did not reflect the offer as I expected it to be and they were charging me a handwritten additional Rs. 900/- I went up to the person who generates the invoices.
At the counter, when I was explaining this to the person generating the invoices, the Young owner joined us and started shouting at me. When I raised my voice as well, the elderly (senior citizen) owner joined us and asked the young owner to move aside.
I explained what I felt was the discrepancy. The person generating the invoices agreed with what I said. However, the elder owner disagreed and told me that the offer is up to the restaurant and not Zomato.
Since, the situation was getting ugly, I told the elderly owner that I did not want to argue about this and that they should give me the invoice as per whatever they felt was right. However, while doing so, they should give me a correct invoice without anything hand written and everything printed on the invoice.
When I asked for this, the elder owner started threatening me saying that they shall break my legs and that they do not need my 3,000 rupees and that I should leave the place.
I asked them to just give me the proper invoice so that we could pay and leave. While this was happening, both the owners gradually moved me away from the counter towards the exit on the first floor.
The moment we reached the staircase, AND WERE OUT OF SIGHT OF THE OTHER CUSTOMERS, both of them pushed me from top of the stairs. I came down rolling form the 1st floor to the ground floor.
I landed on the ground on my back on the ground floor where both the owners and their staff beat me up.
They then slapped my friend, dragged him upstairs and made him pay as per the incorrect invoice.
I don’t know really how to process this. I think I am just glad that they didn’t kill me to extort money against the...

I recently decided to revisit Sheesha Cafe after a long time, curious to see if anything had changed since my previous visit. I couldn't help but notice that the ambiance and overall vibe of the place was still reminiscent of the popular ABC Farms. However, when it came to the food and the sheesha, I must confess that my experience left much to be desired.
Let's start with the positive aspects. The ambiance of Sheesha Cafe remains its strongest selling point. The cozy and comfortable seating arrangements, along with the soft lighting and Middle Eastern-inspired decor, create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The place is still perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or a romantic night out.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the food. While I had hoped to be pleasantly surprised by improvements in the culinary offerings, I found that the quality of the dishes fell short of my expectations. The menu lacked variety, and the execution of several dishes was lacking. Some were underseasoned, while others were overcooked or overly greasy. Although there were a few decent options, the overall dining experience was far from memorable.
As for the sheesha, it left much to be desired as well. I expected a wider range of flavors and a smoother smoking experience, but what I received was average at best. The selection of sheesha flavors was limited, and the quality of the tobacco used didn't quite reach the level of excellence I had anticipated. It's an area that could certainly be improved upon to enhance the overall experience.
Despite my disappointment with the food and sheesha, I must admit that the service at Sheesha Cafe was satisfactory. The staff was attentive and friendly, making an effort to accommodate our requests whenever possible. I appreciated their timely attentiveness without it being overly intrusive.
In conclusion, my recent visit to Sheesha Cafe left me with mixed feelings. While the ambiance continues to impress, the food and sheesha fell short of my expectations. With more attention given to improving the culinary offerings and expanding the sheesha selection, Sheesha Cafe could regain its former glory. For now, it remains an average choice for those seeking a relaxing evening, but discerning patrons may find themselves yearning for a more exceptional...
